(Spoilers)
After you rescue the children while playing as a Hunter and kill the big bad demon, it says you have no hunters in your group to tell if they're possessed or not. Is that intentional?

I think that you might be confused on a certain point: MC is Hunter-raised, but is not a Hunter themselves. :) Please check out #this tag and the FAQ!

Okay, just to be sure, The MC is not full-blooded of whatever race we choose, right? If not, will we find out what they're mixed with at some point? I'm only on chapter 4-5, I think. I feel like his mom had been brought up at the beginning, but then at one point in the story there was a set of options, that included a choice that made me feel like there's a chance MC doesn't really know where he came from. So, now i'm a tad bit confused.

Also, what exactly does the term Brightburner mean? Is there even an actual meaning? Lol, I've seen it used in other IF's, in Movies and in Books(usually in a negative connotation) but when I tried to do a Lore search on what they were; there's literally nothing. Only the brightburn movie comes up. It has me going crazy 😭

Hi, yes, as noted in the FAQ and in the game, you are a Mage, which is its own physical race in the world of Blest, not a class! You may have 1% of the DNA of whoever adopted you (Hunter, Ket, Elf, or Norm blood), though this only results in a cosmetic difference and doesn’t affect anything else. So what you’re “mixed” with isn’t actually a mystery: you’re 99% Mage and maybe 1% whoever you were adopted by, if at all! But the game also notes that you are adopted, which is why your MC doesn’t know who or where they truly came from (as in who their true biological parents are). These mysteries (like MC’s parentage and heritage) do get addressed in the game and have already been revealed in the alpha build, so if you have access to that, keep playing to learn more!

Brightburner doesn’t exactly have a specific meaning in the way that you’re asking: I chose it because it fit and for story reasons, which you’ll find out as you read on, but I’m curious to hear what other IFs, movies, or books you’ve seen it in, because other than the superhero/horror movie you’ve mentioned (which came out after I’d already started using the term), I’ve never really seen it used, let alone in a negative context! Hope that all makes sense, though!

sooo there’s something I’ve been a bit confused about for a while and i know you’ve addressed this before but I’m still a little lost. so even if you merely send me in the right direction to an already existing post that’d be great and I’m sorry for asking again but: does mc have any biological heritage from any of the options at the beginning? (ket, elf, hunter, norm). i know you said they are adopted and at first I just accepted that since it seemed to answer everything but then I played with a hunter mc for the first time and they have a streak of random white hair? so does that allude to some hunter genetics in their family tree somewhere? anyway, sorry again if you’ve answered this a million times, I’ve just always wondered….

Hi there, if you think I’ve answered a common question before, your best bet is always to check the frequently-asked questions, which is where the answer to your question lies, along with here, here, and here!

Do you play as a half Elf

You can’t play as a half-Elf in this game, only as a Mage (which is its own biological race and culture in the world of Blest) who was raised by Elves and shares distant ancestry with them! You can read more in the FAQ and here!

Heyyy so I love the game and have been following the blog for more than a year! But does being a hunter help in banishing the demons?

Hi there, thanks for following the game’s development and supporting for so long! This is a frequently-asked question, and I suggest you check out the DNA tag for an understanding of this as well!

Because this is so frequently asked, I’m going to copy-paste a tutorial I’m adding into the game that addresses exactly this question! I hope that helps!

is there any particular reason why Ket!MC may not be Ket-blooded? It seems like a strange choice considering the choice of background doesn't make much difference

I don’t think it’s that strange! Unlike with the Elf or Hunter backgrounds, which give you tangible evidence of Elfish or Hunter DNA, there is no verifiable proof that MC has Ket blood: they don’t possess any arma or superstrength, and their cosmetic appearance isn’t altered in the same way that an Elf or Hunter!raised MC’s is. So I’m not going to assert they definitively have Ket blood when they themselves have no reason to believe or think they do; it would seem strange for them to randomly think that with no other proof, the same as a Norm!raised MC!

So, we know that being elf, ket, and hunter raised gives you a small percentage of that ethnic group's DNA, is this the same for being norm-raised? Or are you just a full-blooded mage?

The game deliberately leaves it ambiguous, but in my personal author canon, Elf and Hunter!raised MCs have a tiny bit of that DNA, and Norm and Ket!raised MCs don’t (since the Ket!raised MC only gets a tattoo, no actual confirmation that they have any Ket blood)! I am still toying around with this, though, so it’s possible this could change in the future!

Hi there, just a quick question I couldn't figure out on my own.

If your MC is a Hunter (half or whichever portion) and a mage, what would that mean for their lifespan? Would it just max out the usual 45-60 years or would the magic just count more and bring you up to the usual 100 or more?

And likewise do the races intermingle and say there's a Hunter with Ket parent and arma or a Half-elf with exorcism powers? Or are the gifts just skewed to cancel out if the racial identity is too thin?

Can they even co-exist or will one always be dominant and mean the loss of the other? (Kind of like MC having magic, but loosing whichever racial gift they would have had as a full blood?)

Alright, maybe that was more than one question, but I've been wondering about it after my MC had that little chat with Riel about his life expectancy. Or lack thereof.

Hi there, thanks for your question! These questions have actually been asked and answered fairly extensively before, but not under a really accessible tag or anything, so I’m just going to link all of the relevant answers I can think of off the top of my head: long story short, MC is only about 1% of whatever heritage they chose, which is not enough to affect their lifespan; they have the lifespan of a standard Mage! I hope this clarifies things!

if you pick the option for the MC to be from vale, it mentions that they aren't a full elf, so would their life span be closer to an elf's or a human's?

Er, I seem to recall you've said something about this already, but how elvish is an elf!MC in terms of blood, I guess?

Hi there, I answered here!

The answer is, MC shares 1-3% DNA with whoever raised them: so Elf!MC is about 1% Elf, though they themselves have no way of knowing this! This doesn’t affect them in any way whatsoever except for their ears (or streak of white hair, or a boost to strength), so for all intents and purposes they’re mostly just Mage! Thanks for the question!

Anonymous asked:
How does "half" children work in the world? For exemple a Half norm half elf, would they be a norm that live as long as a elf?

Hi there, the discussion of “half” children has been talked about pretty extensively before! You can read more here:

To answer your question, a half-Norm, half-Elf child would live longer than Norms but not as long as Elves!
