Welcome to Games That Weren't!

We are a cancelled and unreleased Video games archive with prototypes, developer history and assets for many computers and consoles of all ages. A non-profit large archive dedicated to preserving lost games that were never released to the public. Sharing history and stories from the developers, assets and more before it is too late. GTW has been preserving lost video game history online since 1999, and long before that offline.

Please Browse our archive and discover the many entries that we host for many different platforms.

Donald Duck’s Bakery

1984 Sierra / Disney

Platforms: Apple 2, Commodore 64 (GTW64 entry)

A short entry for an educational game that was advertised at the CES in Chicago in 1984 from Sierra. Donald Duck’s Bakery we assume would have had you completing educational puzzles to try and complete bakery tasks of some kind – but we know little more than this at this stage.

Although Donald Duck’s Playground was released, this particular game wasn’t. We assume that Al Lowe may have been involved, so hope to learn more from him soon to establish what happened. In the meantime, if you know anything more – please do get in touch.

With thanks to Karl Kuras for highlighting and Archive.org and Atari Compendium for the scans.

GTW64 February 2026 update

February has gone a bit too quick, so a slightly smaller update with the release of Cavey, which has been missing for over 30 years, 2 new entries including an unseen title called Az alkohol szelleme and a few quick updates to existing entries. There will be much more for next month (some additions already made). If you have any C64 related submissions, please do get in touch via the contact form!

Missing Micro League Baseball newsletters

Bertrand / AtariMania.com has asked if we can put out a call to see if anyone has any further issues of the Micro League Baseball Manager’s Club Newsletter. It would have been signed up to if you had purchased a copy of Micro League Baseball by Micro League Sports Association in 1984.

At present, AtariMania.com just have the first issue which is part of their entry on the game – and we assume that more must have gone out at some point. If you know anything more – please leave something in the comments below.

The Living Daylights unused assets

A short post to highlight a piece of unused intro art for the Atari 8-bit version of The Living Daylights by Domark. This was highlighted on a post on AtariAge back in January 2026.

It’s uncertain why the artwork was never used, and is currently missing as a result.

Thanks to Atariteca – we are told that the image is shown on the back cover of the C64/C128 version of the game, saying it belongs to the Atari version. The same image appears in a review published in Page 6 magazine.

With thanks to Ross Sillifant for highlighting, Atariteca for extra info and Yautja for flagging up on AtariAge.

Cavilon – A hack of Neoclyps

A bit of a strange finding from Csaba Virag in the form of a quick hack of Neoclyps for the Commodore 64, which just seems to be a name and credit change.

cavilon hack

It was cracked by Sandor Modl, who worked from original tapes – so was this released by Dynamics in 1984 officially in some way or illegally? Well, thanks to Bertrand / AtariMania.com , we learn that the game was officially released in Germany by Dynamics Marketing GmbH – hence why it is called Cavilon:

With thanks to Csaba Virag for saving and Bertrand / AtariMania.com for confirming release.

Mama Mia

1983 Romox

Platform: Commodore VIC-20

A very short entry of a Romox cartridge game which is currently missing and was advertised in a Romox catalogue. It had a catalogue number of VC105.

We know little about the game and if it was indeed Romox who were to release it, or if they were just providing the cartridge.

If you know anything more – please do get in touch.

With thanks to Bertrand / Atari Frog for flagging up.

Whiz Kid

1983 Romox

Platform: Commodore VIC-20

A very short entry of a Romox cartridge game which is currently missing and was advertised in a Romox catalogue. It had a catalogue number of VC104.

We know little about the game and if it was indeed Romox who were to release it, or if they were just providing the cartridge. It would have been a port of this game which was released on the Atari.

If you know anything more – please do get in touch.

With thanks to Bertrand / Atari Frog for flagging up.

Cavey – long lost C64 platformer from 1992 recovered and released

A new unreleased Commodore 64 game preserved today with our release of Cavey (also known as Caveman Capers) – a 1992 budget platformer sadly never to be, and which featured a built-in level editor. Plenty of promise and its a huge shame it never got further! Source code is also included too!

Atari 8-bit version of Trap recovered

Another great update from Bertrand / Atari Frog from AtariMania.com , who have recovered a rare Atari 8-bit prototype of Alligata Software’s Trap. A very advanced preview which is quite faithful to the C64 original at this stage.

The preservation work is thanks to John Hardie (National Videogame Museum) and to Stephen Goss (Harlequin Software founder) for allowing the archival of the game. It is unknown why the game was never released, but AtariMania suggest it could be to do with turmoil within Alligata at the time before the company shut down. Continue reading
