CES
The CES (short for Consumer Electronics Show) is an annual event where manufacturers gather to showcase new developments, make deals, and set industry trends. It is also a major media event, generating significant worldwide interest from the technology press, the business community, and a broad range of industry observers.
The fair started in 1967 (the first fair was in New York), organised by the Consumer Electronics Association and now takes place each January. However, from 1978 through 1994 it was held twice each year — once in January in Las Vegas and once in June in Chicago.
Many computer systems, including the Commodore PET 2001 and the home computers VIC-20, C64, C128 and Amiga, and also a lot of hard- and software like GEOS were premiered at the CES.
As a trade show, CES is geared primarily toward industry professionals, with attendance requiring verified credentials, and in January 2026 it featured more than 4,000 exhibitors.
