Bitdefender found the apps used a number of different techniques to dodge Google Play's vetting system
The findings come from antivirus testing group AV-Comparatives, which tested 250 Android security apps to see how they performed against common malware strains. The reputable brands generally performed well, while the lesser-known ones fared poorly.
Security firm Trend Micro discovered 29 malicious apps that were listed on the official Google Play store, all advertised as “beauty camera” applications.
