WINHTTP_ACCESS_TYPE_AUTOMATIC_PROXY does a good job in general to determine the proxy, however it depends on some user settings and might skip wpad if the user settings say so. This might cause that applications meant to run as users like LOCAL_SERVICE might experience connectivity problems because this user might have wpad turned off. It would be useful then to allow such applications to manually request wpad or provide a PAC location where to look for proxy configuration.
