I was on the iConv tag at https://github.com/topics/iconv. There is no description, so I thought I would add a brief description. I clicked on the "curate" link and landed here.

Instead of allowing the community to add a description to the tag, GitHub throws pages of instructions at contributors. I started scanning it looking for how to add a description, and I finally said to hell with it. There is too much bullshit surrounding this simple task.

If GitHub removes the barriers it has put in place, folks will actually edit tags for you.

(Hint: do not allow engineers to develop UI procedures. They cannot be trusted, and this is the sort of mess they come up with. Instead, consult a UI expert. The UI expert will come up with a simple procedure that does not require pages of instructions, like the one used on Stack Overflow. I can't help but laugh at the current procedure).
