Steampunk is essentially a whole sub-genre based on an Alternate History which involves an era where steam power is still widely used and has a 19th century Victorian style. This Victorian perspective includes the fashion, culture and style. Much Steampunk is directly influenced by the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne.
Part of the inhumanity of the computer is that, once it is competently programmed and working smoothly, it is completely honest.
