     General

  • Who runs the site?

  • Rio mainly runs the site with help from moderators in the forum. For more info about them, check out the right-hand column in the About Us page.

  • Who does the tutorials?

  • Rio made most of the tutorials. A few have been submitted by guest authors. Just check the credits under the title of the tutorial to find out who exactly made what tutorial. If you have questions about a particular tutorial, please check who made it first and direct your question to that individual. If you ask Rio about it and she didn't make it, your question will most likely remain unanswered. Either that or you'll receive a reply pointing you to the right author.

  • When do you update?

  • Right now, updates are every Monday. The best way to keep up is to sign up to our RSS Feed to get the latest news from the site without having to check back constantly. Updates in the forum are usually faster such as the News section and contest results.

  • Will you critique my art/manga/story/etc?

  • No. There are rare moments though when I could critique something but they are usually artwork posted in the forum and not sent directly to me. If you don't mind who critiques your material, you can post in the forum's Art Corner or Manga Works section.

  • How do I submit my artwork/book review/tutorial/article?

  • Go to the appropriate section for more info on submissions: Your Art, Drawing Books & Materials, Tutorials & Articles.

  • How can I help the site?

  • You can help the site by doing one of the following:
    - Submitting a tutorial, article, or book review
    - Link to Manga Tutorials from your web site
    - Buy items through our affiliates using the links provided in our site.
Thanks to all who've supported this site! <3

  • Can you help with me with my homework?

  • Sorry, no. I'm typically busy with other obligations so I can't help you. You can try asking for help in the forum, though.

  • I sent you an email but I haven't heard from you. What gives?

  • Either a) your email never got to me, b) I can't reply to you (I sent a reply but I get an error message), c) your email doesn't require an answer, d) you expect me to carry a conversation about trivial matters (i.e. favorite anime, etc) which I just delete, or e) I'm busy with life and I hadn't had a chance to check my email yet. On occasion, there are times when my internet connection is down or I was upgrading/got a new PC.

  • Can I mirror your site?

  • No. You can link to my site but you can't mirror it. Doesn't matter if you link back to my site or give me credit. You cannot post my tutorials or any other part of this site into your own web page.

  • Can I translate your tutorials into (enter language here)? I'll give full credit and a link!

  • No. Why? For one thing, this site changes and that includes the updates of my tutorials. The information you translated one day may have changed since then. For another, these translated tutorials are under my name even if you clearly state that it was translated by you. If it's translated incorrectly, it reflects back onto me. Now, if there was a demand for my tutorials to be in a certain language, then that's when I'll consider it being translated but should I ever have them translated, those pages will be hosted by me and under no one else.

  • I linked my site to yours, can you link back to me as well?

  • If your site has a good amount of information in it that I believe others may find useful, then yes, I can return the link otherwise, no, I will not return the link.

     Tutorials & Articles

  • When will you have a new tutorial?

  • Depends on how busy I am plus how big the tutorial will be. Making a tutorial takes time to assemble from making to editing the images, laying out and typing the contents of the tutorial, to rechecking and transfering it to html format. And this site was put together in Notepad so it will take some time... <.<'

I plan making new tutorials in the near future so drop by later on!

  • Can you please make tutorials for (this and that)?

  • Maybe. It depends on what I have scheduled to cover. Currently, my focus is on updating the tutorials plus anatomy. Anything beyond that are in my waiting list of tutorials to be done. You can ask for it so I know there is interest in a certain tutorial but I usually don't stray from my projected tutorials to cover.

  • May I use your artwork from your tutorials for (enter request here)?

  • It depends on what you will be using it for. If you'll be using it to make profit - my answer: NO. No if's, and's, or but's. I don't care if you will credit my name and even if you will compensate me. My answer is still "No". If you would like to use it for a paper, run it by me. I tend to give permission if its for educational purposes such as Sketch-based Modeling with Few Strokes by Mario Costa Sousa and colleagues at the University of Calgary. Again, for papers, contact me with details on what exactly you'll be using it for. If its for something else other than those two, drop me a line.

  • Can you make downloadable versions of your tutorials?

  • No. At the moment, I don't have the extra time to do this but downloadable versions may be in the works soon so check back in the front page for any new developments about this.

  • I know I can submit tutorials and articles, but what topics can I cover?

  • Anything that isn't already covered. The only exception to this is that I do not accept hentai related topics (i.e. how to draw S&M;, etc) as this site is open to all ages from young children to adults.

  • If I submit a tutorial or article, will it be credited to me? Can it be linked to my email, website, etc?

  • Yes, I will credit the tutorial or article to you. Credit will be made to your real name or to an alias, at your request. I usually put up an email along with your name so those who have a question about your tutorial may contact you. If you would like a link to your website as well, it can be done as long as your site isn't of questionable nature (i.e. H, hate site, etc).

  • I finished my tutorial and/or article, who do I submit it to?

  • Send it along to Rio at this site's domain address. Thanks for submitting it!

  • I sent my tutorial/article to you awhile ago, why isn't it up yet?

  • If you did not receive an email from Rio telling you it has been posted up or why it wasn't posted up, then she either hasn't gotten to your email yet or she did not get your submission. You can wait a few more days or try sending it again. If you still don't receive word about it, then PM her at the forum.

  • Why didn't you post my tutorial or article?

  • If you didn't receive an email from Rio telling you why it wasn't posted, then here's some of the reasons why:
    1. Content was not substantial.
    2. Grammer is lacking.
    3. Topic is already covered.
    4. Inappropriate content, or
    5. All of the above.

  • I'd like to make my own tutorial/article, can you help me? How do I get started?

  • First of all, you have to decide what your tutorial will be about. It is best if it is something you know about. Then lay out what areas you will cover and in what order. Write it out and make images if needed. Put it all together in Word, Notepad, or other program. If you're sketchy on how to lay out your tutorial, look at the tutorials we have around here to get a better idea. If you lack time, then just spend a couple of minutes each day on one section. Good luck and don't give up!

     News, Contests, Jobs & Advertising

  • Who do I send an article/press release/manga submissions call to post in your News section?

  • Send a link or attachment to Rio. For the forum, you can also contact Dodgey, the moderator of the News Section via PM.

  • I submitted an article to you awhile back. Why isn't it up yet?

  • It could be any of the following reasons:
-Your article has no relevancy in being posted in this site
-It is being held until the site is next updated, usually on a Monday
    -Your email wasn't received

  • There's a contest going on right now that you don't have listed, who do I tell about it?

  • Cool, a contest! We love contests! Give Rio all the info and she'll get it up asap. Of course, the contest must be manga or at least anime/manga-style drawing related for it to be posted.

  • You used to hold contests. When will you hold another one?

  • Good thing you asked. We are now holding a monthly Avatar contest. Check the Announcement section of the forum or the right-hand column of the homepage for news. Check back for other special contests!

  • I'd like to enter the contest you have posted, who do I send my materials to?

  • Check all the information listed under that contest. There should be a contact information available, either a url, mailing address, and at times, an email address.

  • I'm looking for an artist who can (enter project/job here), can you do it? Or can you help me find someone?

  • I, personally, may not have the time but I can post your ad here at the web site. Check the next question for more information.

  • Can you post a job opening we have at your site?

  • Yes, we would be happy to post it at our site just as long as it is related to the manga and anime field in some way. It will be posted initially at the front page and permanently announced in the forum. Please make sure to provide all pertinent information such as company name, position, details of the position, whom to contact, what items need to be submitted, and so forth. Not providing one of the above information may result in your job opening in not being posted. We also accept volunteer position announcements such as editorial positions for a manga/anime-related web site.

  • I know about a job opening at (company name). Would you like to know the details?

  • If it's in the manga or anime field, then by all means, send me the info!

  • I'm interested in the job that you posted, who do I send my resume to?

  • Check the job post for a contact information. It's best to check for it in the forum which has the complete details.

  • I would like to advertise in your website but not through Google Ads, what should I do?

  • Please contact Rio. She'll be more than happy to work out something with you! Please note that acceptable advertisements include those that DO NOT promote anything that is inappropriate. This site is dedicated to bringing resources to people of all ages and that includes minors.

     Drawing Books & Materials

  • Who exactly am I buying the books and materials from?

  • If you are purchasing books or magazines, then you are buying them from Amazon.com, one of the top-selling online bookstores. If you are buying drawing materials, we are affiliated to Akadot Retail also called Comic Tones, one of the very few online stores that sell manga-related drawing materials.

  • Do you recommend these stores? Are they any good?

  • Personally, my experiences with these stores were very well but that has no relevance at all since each person has their own idea of what "good" means. What you should check is their customer service section, especially their return policy and if they can ship to your area. If you feel comfortable with their policy, then try it out, otherwise, stick with a store you know and are comfortable with.

  • So they're your affiliates. What does that mean exactly?

  • Affiliates basically means that for every sale made coming from a site, that site will receive a certain percentage of the final sale. When you purchase a book or material from this site, we get a percentage from the sale of that item. That cut will be used to help keep this site running by covering mundane things such as web hosting fees and so forth. Your support is appreciated!

  • I'd like to submit a review for a book or material, who do I send it to?

  • You can send it to Rio. Please make sure your review actually has something to say. General reviews such as "this book is great because it covers many topics" does not cut it. Make sure you include
    why
you like it or don't like it. Also, please make sure to proof read your review. Submitted reviews with too many grammer or spelling errors will be rejected.

  • I sent you a review awhile back, why isn't it up yet?

  • It may not be up due to one of the following reasons:
    -Lack of content.
    -Bad grammar.
-We did not receive your review.
-It is being held until the next update.

  • I'd like to recommend a book or material you don't have listed, who do I contact?

  • Contact Rio. If it's a book, make sure you at least give the title, author, and the ISBN. If it's a material, send all pertinent information about the item including images, summary about it, where to get it, and so forth. We reserve the right to reject any recommended book or material.

     Your Art

  • I would like to submit my artwork! Who do I send it to?

  • Rio, of course! Who else?

  • When will my artwork be up?

  • Artwork are usually put up in the next upcoming update, a Monday. If you sent your artwork on a Sunday or a Monday, EST (Eastern Standard Time), it may be posted in the following update. Please be patient and if it is still not posted after a month, send it to Rio again. It may have been lost or never reached her.

  • Wait, is there a submissions guideline I have to follow?

  • Yes, there is. Read the points below:

    1. File types accepted: .jpeg, .gif, and .bmp. Mac users, please enter file extension after the filename. Windows does not recognize Mac files unless you directly enter the file extension.

    2. All types of art are welcome; original, fan art, game art; except hentai. Hentai characters are okay. Suggestive poses and nudity are subject to evaluation. There's a good chance it will be rejected, though.

    3. Submitted fan art will have the artists' name and email address on your drawing. Aliases are allowed if you prefer not to use your real name.

    4. Limit file size to 1MB, please. Or multiple images submitted should add up to, at most, 1MB. For multiple submissions, it is prefered you use WinZip. I can't stress this rule enough - I have only so much space allotted on my email account and it slows things down if one person takes up more than 1MB just for one picture. I receive quite a bit of submissions, so please be courteous to others and don't clog up my email account with huge image files.

    5. Your artwork will be placed in the Your Art page in our site and then permanently displayed in the Your Art Archives after a certain amount of time.

    6. You may submit up to 12 artworks per year. Any more submissions after that will be rejected until the upcoming year. No exceptions! And NO, I will NOT replace your old atwork with your new one.

    7. Art work at all levels of experience is welcome!

    8. Any medium of art work is also accepted: CG, pencil, crayon, colored pencil, etc. If you can scan it, send it in!

    9. Art work submitted must be drawn by you and only you. Please do not submit a friend's art work or a stranger's without his or her permission and knowledge. Otherwise, please give proper credit where it belongs.

    10. We do not link to artwork at your site. All submitted artwork will be posted and hosted at this site. If you have an artwork that is hosted at your site and would like me to post up, just send me your url and point out which drawing if necessary.

    11. No Photos! Your Art page is reserved only for art that you have drawn whether it's in pencil, pen, CG, or other medium. If you do not have a scanner and took a digital photo of your drawing, that is okay. No photo's of yourself or sceneries - they'll just be rejected.

  • I can't find my artwork in the Your Art page, what happened to it?

  • After a certain amount of time, artwork will be permanently placed in the Your Art Archives which can be found in the forum. The archives are titled with the artist's name. If you can't find your name, just do a search and it should turn up.

     Oekaki

  • Is it free?

  • Yes. No payment required. All you need is an email address, though.

  • I can't post comments or draw anything. Why?

  • You have to be a member to post or draw in the Oekaki. All you have to do is click on the "Sign Up" link on the top of the Oekaki pages, fill in the fields, and then confirm your email address. If you are already a member and can't post anymore, then the most likely reason is that you have broken one of the rules. To find out for sure, check out the forum's Suspended Oekaki Members thread.

  • I signed up but it didn't send me the confirmation email, what should I do?

  • Check your Bulk or Spam Folder. It may have been sent to there. If it's not there, then either a) you typed in your email wrong, b) you have an email blocker or firewall, or c) you haven't waited long enough for the email to get to you. If you are positively sure you fall in none of the above, then try signing up again.

  • How does this darn thing work?! It doesn't appear for some reason...

  • To use the Oekaki, you need to have Java installed. If you already have it, then make sure you have it enabled under your browser options, usually under Tools > (Internet) Options. Otherwise, a) make sure you have the latest browser version, b) wait for it to load if you have a slow connection, or c) in some instances, a firewall may be the factor so check your settings. If you still have a problem, I'm sorry to say it, but if it doesn't show up - it doesn't show up.

  • My oekaki isn't up anymore, what happened to it?

  • Each Oekaki Room has a certain amount of space alloted to it. As each member posts a new image, an older image will be automatically deleted to make room for the newer artwork. If you want to save your artwork, make sure you do so asap. Otherwise, we cannot do anything to recover lost artwork.

  • Someone is breaking one of the rules, who do I contact about it?

  • Give the mods chihior923 or kupocake the heads up and they'll take care of it. You can find them in the Oekaki and in the forum.

     Forum

  • Do I have to pay if I sign up?

  • No. No payment necessary. It's free.

  • How do I sign up for the forum?

  • Enter the forum. Click on the link that says "Sign Up". Enter all the required fields and submit it. A notice will be sent to your email address. Click on the link provided in the body of the email to confirm your email address. Once that is done, you will have to wait for me to approve your account. This may take 24-48 hours and on rare occasions, a bit longer. Once you receive my approval email, you can now start posting in the forum.

  • I signed up a long time ago and I forgot my password, can you send me a new one?

  • Go to the forum and click on "Log In" and then press "I forgot my password". Enter your username and your email address and you will automatically be sent a new password. You can then change that password by going to your Profile.

  • Why can't I post in certain sections?

  • It may be because they are a) locked, or b) for certain groups only.

  • Someone is spamming/acting inappropirately, who should I tell about it?

  • First, contact via PM (private message) the moderator of that section. They are listed under the description of the Section. If there is no mod listed, then PM Rio.

  • So what are the rules anyways?

  • There are two sets of rules. There is the General Rules which applies to all of the sections in the forum. Then there are the Section Rules which only applies to that particular area. General Rules may be found at the top of the Forum under "Announcements".

  • How do I (enter how to do something here) in the forum?

  • Read through the threads under "Announcements". There are info there for posting, linking, displaying images, and so forth. If your question is not answered there, then check out the Forum's FAQ page, otherwise, ask your question in the General Discussion and someone is bound to help you.

  • I can't post anymore, what happened?

  • The most likely reason is because you have been banned. There are some people who have clearly disregarded the rules of the forum and/or are acting inappropriately be it with language, spamming, or trying to start a fight. Some bans occur after several warnings and others are sudden, depending on the severity of what you have done.
Bans are indefinite, meaning they have no set timeline. They can last for a few days to months. Don't bother pleading with Rio about it, please. When she's good and ready to un-ban you, she'll do it but not any sooner.

  • Can I become a moderator?

  • We are not currently looking for any moderators. But, if by any chance that we are, there will be an announcement under the "Announcements" section of the forum. Check there to find out.
