Edebits (Western Animation)
Edebits is a 2006 children's animated series produced by the Spanish educational publisher Grupo Edebé. It features the titular characters that appeared in the 2000 PC education games Edebits Primaria and Edebits Infantil and the learning software Multimedia Infantil, all published by Edebé Digital.

Bet is a preteen girl who lives in an Antarctic research base with her parents Julia and Nil, and Mandi the technician. She draws five virtual characters or "bits" — Arts, Com, Gov, Net, and Org — on her computer. These bits, who become alive, are a team known as the Edebits and they befriend Bet. Meanwhile, the humans and the Edebits confront exploiters of the Antarctic and cyber threats.

All 26 episodes can be viewed on various video sites and video on demand services.

Should not be confused with Elebits, although both series share elements of tiny creatures involving electricity.

Edebits contains examples of:

  • 2D Visuals, 3D Effects: The fighting game's setting in episode 6 is a 3D computer generated world.
  • Art Initiates Life: In the first episode, the Edebits, which had just been drawn by Bet, gain consciousness during a power outage and surge caused by a blizzard. They disappear from her art software but are brought to life in the cyber world.
  • Color-Coded Characters:
    • Arts — Blue
    • Com — Green
    • Gov — Yellow
    • Net — Red
    • Org — Purple
  • Disney Death: In Episode 5, Org gets crushed by a book. As the other Edebits mourn him, he pops out of the book. The book, as well as Bet's room where the Edebits are, are all in a virtual environment designed to trap the Edebits by Spam and Bug.
  • Dub Name Change: Bet is called Bia in the European Portuguese dub.
  • Energy Ball: Net gets hit by an energy ball launched by Bug's character in the fighting game in episode 6.
  • Hollywood Hacking: The Edebits have capabilities like, for instances, altering the Coast Guard's GPS route to the Pangaea base or sending emails from Mandi's email account.
  • Evil Duo: Lou and Morgan are the villains in the physical world who want to make money off Antarctica.
  • Pet Baby Wild Animal: In Episode 6, Bet takes a wild penguin chick to the laboratory to keep as a pet.
  • Polar Penguins: Penguins, including chicks, are some of the animals featured in Antarctica.
  • Scientific and Technological Theme Naming: Four members of the Edebits, Com, Net, Org and Gov, are named after major top-level domains. The only member not named after one is Arts, which wouldn't become a top-level domain until 2017.
  • Trapped in TV Land: In Episode 6, Net launches a fighting game and gets trapped inside it while going to save the player character. The rest of the team can't enter it and Net can't return to them. Net would confront an opponent controlled by Bug and struggle to defeat him.
  • The Unintelligible: Org can only say "yes" (including "yeah") and "no".
  • Wingding Eyes: Gov's eyes are arrows. Net's left eye is a star.
