Ransom Notes is a series of original online video shorts created by American comedian Taylor Ransom. Taylor plays a cast of characters who are to be found in and around a fictitious mega-church, and uses them to satirise and parody what happens when a charismatic pastor establishes "Daddy's House Church" note  and sets himself up as Senior Global Pastor.

Drawn from Taylor Ransom's own experience within this sort of religion, the characters are finely drawn caricatures of people to be found at such a church, and vividly depict the everyday and worship life of big-money religion in the USA.

The skits are freely available via Facebook and other sites, and Taylor's homepage is to be found here.

Praise the Lord and pass the contribution! Educational material on how to grow with the Lord and to serve SGP faithfully in all things might include:

  • All There in the Manual: Some otherwise appreciative viewers have questioned the appropriateness of the name "Daddy's House Church" and expressed doubt that a church could have a name like this, that calling the all-powerful God "Daddy" is somehow diminishing His name and detracting from the sort of respectful relationship a believer should have with the Almighty - that it's just too casual and informal. However, The Bible actually appears to encourage this informality in a relationship with God; Gospel references note  are approving of directly calling God Abba. Not a Swedish pop group, but an Aramaic word for "Father" that has distinctly informal associations - God can, it seems, be addressed as Daddy by His children.
  • The Almighty Janitor is the man who keeps Daddy's House Church impeccably clean, who can be relied upon to take out the trash in all respects, and who knows - possibly metaphorically - where all the bodies are buried.
  • Amoral Attorney: Daddy's House Church and the SGP retain a lawyer. Who is frequently needed to bail out the Church, or SGP, from the results of its lax management, sketchy understanding of even the most basic legal principles, or the results of its less-than-inspired decisions, like having live lions present at a sermon based around the inspiring Biblical tale of Daniel in captivity. The lawyer also deals with keeping SGP's wayward son out of juvenile hall or the local newspapers and TV, averting compensation and damages cases (the aforementioned use of feral big cats as sermon aids, for instance) or the IRS taking an interest in SGP's taxation status. It is also implied that SGP is regrettably slow at actually paying his lawyer.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: One of the lowly unpaid interns is seen cleaning the toilets at DHC. What impairs him in this physical work is a heavy cast on a broken right arm which is the cause of his frequent winces of pain. The intern explains that he was caught by Security in a part of the building where he had no authority to be note  , and that he got a "slap on the wrist" from Samson Smith, the security chief.
  • Early Instalment Weirdness: Right at the start of the project, Senior Global Pastor was actually part of the cast of characters played by Taylor. His name is Luke and he appears in two videos explaining about the rebranding of the former Crestwood Community Church as Daddy's House Church, and what this exciting new move means for those who are part of the Church community. However, as the concept evolved, Taylor is on record in November 2025 as saying he wants to delete this early material altogether, as it no longer appears to fit the mood and development of the series.
  • Greedy Televangelist: Senior Global Pastor, the ''eminence gris" of Daddy's House Church, is seen to be developing into one of these, using his Web presence and prominence in the Church as a means of spreading the Good News in return for hard cash. He performs the classic hard sell to boost sales of his books and recorded sermons. The put-upon Interns are encouraged to shill for his products as hard as they can (but very definitely aren't on a percentage or any sales bonuses). note
  • Homeschooled Kids: A youth who is being homeschooled to keep him out of the demonic and Satan-inspired public school system is whiny, immature, lacking in any sort of social skills around other young people, and on top of this is being woefully ill-educated in, well, everything.
  • Hypocrite: One of the overworked and unpaid interns is desperate enough to steal several thousand dollars that SGP has carelessly left out in plain view in the hallowed Green Room. It is heavily implied that the Almighty Janitor, with the understanding and permission of the SGP, deals with this in a very direct and conclusive manner involving the sinner being shown the exit door. (A second-storey doorway with a twenty-foot drop onto concrete). Samson, Head of Security, is authorised to tranquilise unruly congregants and disruptive worshippers. Meanwhile, when SGP's son repeatedly takes his father and the Church for thousands, or is seen being Ungodly in public, this is dealt with in a gentler and more discreet way and the security people are forbidden from using any rough treatment.
  • The Intern: Daddy's House Church appears to run on the unpaid labour of lots and lots of interns, who do the cleaning, run the coffee shops, keep the Green Room stocked, and who are told they are being paid in a commodity worth infinitely more than mere dollars - the opportunity to live and work God's word and earn the favour of God. One intern reflects on his massive debts and the fact he now lives in his car, and he has to scavenge the leftovers from the Church's catering operation so as to eat - but has faith the Lord will put this right. One musician rejoices that after five years as an intern, he has finally broken through and is now on a (sub) minimum wage contract.
  • No Communities Were Harmed: Several skits locate Daddy's House Church as being "just off the I-95". However, a bit of digging reveals that Interstate 95 is "the main north–south Interstate Highway on the East Coast of the United States", running for quite a long way between Florida and Maine. Taylor Ransom himself is from southern Tennessee and is based in Louisville, Kentucky. Which are nowhere near the I-95 route. It is possible this reference was made so as to be deliberately vague.
  • Obnoxious Entitled Housewife: The "Church Karen" is the religious type. She is loud, forceful, has zero tolerance for anyone whose interpretation of the religion is not hers, and is possessed of a massive ego that leads her to believe she has full authority to stand up and preach as and when the mood takes her. The problem with this is that her understanding of her religion is trite and superficial and largely depends on what is currently in vogue. She may also be the mother of the Christian Homeschooler, thus adding to his personal woes.
  • Preacher's Kid: One of SGP's headaches and daily trials is his son Ezekiel- an entitled spoilt brat who smokes, drinks, takes recreational drugs and has a lamentable habit of paying for his lifestyle on his parents' credit cards.
  • Scam Religion: Again a borderline case. Creator Taylor Ransom acknowledges there is genuine religious sentiment in there and that it's wholly unremarkable by the standards of American megachurches. However, the emphasis of Daddy's House Church is, increasingly, on Mammon as much as it is on God, and DHC is seen as not being wholly scrupulous or discriminatory in how it seeks to make money for the glory of God and for the Senior Global Pastor.
  • Sinister Minister: SGP himself is a borderline case. Not seen in the story except for a couple of very early appearances, he is an unseen presence in the background who is treated almost as if he were a fourth member of the Holy Trinity. The inference across the stories is that he is more of a venal, lazy, borderline con-man who is happy to do minimal work and live off the proceeds of a money-making machine - he takes frequent sabbaticals in places like Acapulco and Bermuda, for instance, to recharge his batteries. However, he appears to be perfectly aware, and implicitly approving, of what Samson (Head of Security) and the Almighty Janitor are prepared to do so as to enforce discipline in the congregation and clamp down on dissent.
  • Weird Homeschooled Kid: The website is a satirical look at the life of a typical American megachurch, as seen by its people. One recurring character is the Christian Homeschooler, a mid-teen youth who is awkward, whiny, lacking in any sort of social skills, horribly ill-educated, and visibly ill-equipped for independent adult life.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: Daddy's House Church is vaguely located "just off the I-95". Taylor Ransom was brought up in Tennessee, nowhere near the titular highway. (which connects Florida and Maine; even non-Americans can grasp that this covers over 1500 miles of the USA). It is very possible that Taylor is blurring things here so that no actual American church can be identified as the location. The very earliest videos in the story say that the previous name of Daddy's House Church was Crestwood Community Church. A look at a gazeteer of placenames tells us there are only three large towns in the USA of any significance called Crestwood: one each in Missouri, Kentucky and Virginia. This is possibly not vague enough - unlike Springfield - so a change of name was mandated. note
