Xelutrix (Webcomic)
"This is your chance...to become the hero you've always wanted to be."

XELUTRIX is a Ben 10 AU webcomic created by [Darent_Z that reimagines the Omnitrix equivalent as the infernal creation of the Fallen Angel Azmuth using the blood of the Demon Lord and Lilith, making it technically the Demon Lord's fifth son. Stolen by Lilith in an apparent bid to protect her child, the Xelutrix's pod is found by Ben. When the watch tries to assimilate him, Ben fighting back causes it bond with him instead, due to it being only one year old and viewing him as a dominant foe. Now he has to use his seven demonic forms, whose consciousnesses reside within the Xelutrix and can fight against him for control, to battle the demons that seeks to regain the Xelutrix.

Xelutrix provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Abomination: The Xelutrix, fifth son of the Demon Lord, and its seven demonic transformations, all of whom are from now extinct demon races.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Ben is much more skilled at fighting when in human form at the start of this AU. He also seems to get some bonuses even when in human form, like a boost to his strength, shown when he punches the ground hard enough to crater it and carries Gwen and Max to the Rustbucket at the same time, each under one arm. He's also shown to be more skilled in general at fighting, as he pulls off moves as Obsidian (Diamondhead) that took Ben in canon more time to pull off.
    • Enoch is this, by virtue of being one of the Holy-Blooded and wielder of Ascalon, and as such is one of the seven strongest warriors on Earth.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: The Exorcists, the Plumber equivalent in this universe, appear just after Ben acquires Xelutrix, when the Plumbers weren't fully back in operation until Ben 10: Alien Force.
  • Adaptational Job Change:
    • The Exorcists sent demons back to Hell before they hurt people, or before they could reach Jacob's Ladder, which was the only entrance to Heaven, and Max was one of them.
    • The Forever Knights are also shown to combat demons as well.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Ben's demons have different names from the aliens in canon:
    • Heatblast's "species" are called Inferonytes rather than Pyronites, and he is named Hellblaze.
    • Diamondhead is called Obsidian here.
    • In addition, the Plumbers were called the Exorcists here, and subsequently the Plumber kids are Exorcists here.
  • Adaptational Species Change:
    • Ben's aliens are demonic beings in this universe, and Azmuth is himself a Fallen Angel. Max later clarifies the seven demonic forms can turn into are actually from extinct demon races, when most of the aliens Ben turned into in canon had at least a handful still around.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: More like adaptational device change, since Xelu is himself a sentient (though only a year old) demon who gives Ben the power to turn into seven demonic beings, each of whom can control him if he doesn't resist their attempts to do so.
  • Adaptational Ugliness: Ben's transformations are decidedly more monstrous than in canon, as befitting his aliens being demons here.
  • Age Lift: Ben and Gwen are thirteen in this AU, three years older than the classic Ben.
  • Arc Number: Seven, as in seven demonic beings Xelutrix absorbed and who Ben can turn into, and seven "Holy-Blooded" individuals who collectively are the strongest of Earth's protectors.
  • Badass Boast:
    • Enoch gives one to Apocalypsus as it continues its rampage:
"Those beasts who dare to underestimate human strength...are the ones destined to perish...by human hands."
    • And Enoch gives another one to Apocalypsus as a challenge:
"Astound me, for I shall grant you the honor of striking first. But...you would do well to strike me with your finest blow...for if you do not...your destruction shall not bring me even the smallest measure of amusement."
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Ben's powers are demonic in origin in this AU, yet he still tries to use them for good.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Enoch of all people, easily dispatching the horse of Conquest after it had begun killing off the Exorcists.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: A lot bloodier than canon, with multiple characters being seriously injured or killed on-panel.
  • Body Horror: Ben bonding with Xelu is decidedly bloodier than in canon, as Xelu's rows and rows of sharp teeth pierce Ben's arm.
  • Bully Hunter: Ben is shown to be one, as he ends up fighting and beating the crap out of Cash just to protect someone Cash was threatening.
  • Chain Pain: Exorcists in this AU are associated with chains, using them as weapons and channels for their abilities. Even the barrier between Earth and Hell takes the form of a giant golden chain. It's noted this is partly because this is the most basic form the power of the Exorcists take on,
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Ben's eye color changes depending on who is currently in control of his body while using the Xelutrix, red for the demons being in control and green for Ben being in control.
  • Creepy Good: Ben transforms into seven demonic forms using Xelutrix, the fifth son of the Demon Lord, but still aims to try to protect humanity and become a hero.
  • Darker and Edgier: In certain ways, with multiple people shown dying with just a few chapters of Ben getting the Xelutrix.
  • Deadly Gaze: Conquest reduces a group of Exorcists into skeletons simply by performing one of these.
  • Defeat Means Respect: Ben fighting against Xelu is what causes the two to bond, as Xelu interprets Ben's fighting him off as Ben being a dominant opponent.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Ben is introduced fighting and subsequently winning against a random kid (later revealed to be him fighting against Cash who was bullying someone), showing he's even more rough around the edges than Ben in canon, but still with good intentions.
  • Eye Scream: Gwen's eye is hurt by the Heatblast equivalent demon.
  • Genre Shift: The original Ben 10 was mainly science fiction, this is focused on demons and angels.
  • Hellish Horse: Apocalypsus, Conquest's horse, which resembles a stony like horse aflame with white fire.
  • Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Conquest, the fourth son of the Demon Lord, and presumably the other three eldest sons are the Horsemen.
  • Humanity Is Superior: The Forever Knights seem to have this belief, as unlike the Exorcists who utilize faith in God, Enoch mentions they simply believe in human strength.
  • Last of His Kind: Xelutrix's seven demon forms, each of whom were loyal servants of the Demon Lord who voluntarily chose to be absorbed into Xelu.
  • Leaking Can of Evil: Something damaged the barrier between Hell and Earth in the past, so demons have a limited ability to reach Earth.
  • Mama Bear: Lilith steal the Xelutrix and sends it to Earth, as she says that she'll protect Xelu, and she rescues Ben while he is under the capture of the Forever Knights, even thanking him for wanting to protect her son.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Xelu, as seen when he first pounces on Ben.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Ben's demonic forms gaining red eyes as opposed to green indicates the demon is currently in control.
  • Really Was Born Yesterday: Xelu is less than a year old and is described as a prototype, so when Ben meets him in the mindscape he can't really talk.
  • Seven Deadly Sins: Each of the seven forms Ben can turn into represents one of the seven classical sins:
    • Heatblast (or Hellblaze) represents Wrath, and is decidedly a Blood Knight.
    • Diamondhead (or Obsidian) represents Pride, and aims to show his superiority to the other six demons to impress Xelu.
    • [XLR8-C] seems to represent Sloth, as Lilith states that they require "entertainment" or "stimuli" such as food to be controlled, and it actively takes control of Ben once it gets tired of fleeing from the Forever Knights' base.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: Ben is shown to wear his canon t-shirt from the original series in a flashback to him at ten, before his change in attitude at age eleven is shown to also have him wear a t-shirt that's the reverse of his canon t-shirt in color (mostly black with a vertical white stripe), and then adding a cropped black hoodie at age thirteen.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Grandpa Max is shown to have golden eyes, something which unnerves the Heatblast demon since normal Exorcists shouldn't have that eye color. It's later clarified Holy-Blooded Exorcists possess these eyes, and seven (including Max) currently protect Earth.
  • Undying Loyalty: The seven demons in Xelu, who chose to be absorbed into him.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Max notes Ben used to act pretty much the same as he did in canon up until he turned eleven, at which point he became more moody and guarded, until he drifted apart from Max by the time he was thirteen.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Chapter 8, Hero, which reveals Max was a member of the Exorcists, an organization that battled demons to protect Earth, and that Xelu's transformations come from extinct demon species, as well as the fact that Max has holy blood.
    • Chapter 11, Human Bearer, in which Obsidian reveals Xelutrix was an experiment by Azmuth that would become a weapon for the demon lord, and that the seven demons inside of Xelutrix voluntarily chosen to be absorbed into him.
    • Chapter 12, Awakening, in which Gwen awakens Exorcist powers while attempting to find out where Ben was taken.
    • Chapter 15, Not A Hero, in which Enoch attempts to convince Ben to join the Forever Knights, and Ben is rescued by Lilith, Xelu's mother.
  • Wham Line:
    • Chapter 8, Hero, where Max reveals something about Ben's transformations:
"It's about the demon that possessed you, the Inferonyte, they're...they're supposed to be extinct. I remember it clearly, we were told that along with six very dangerous demon species, Inferonytes were extinct."
    • Chapter 15, Not A Hero, coupled with a Wham Shot:
"Don't be afraid, human. My name...is Lilith...I am Xelu's mother."
  • Wham Shot:
    • Chapter 15, Not A Hero, Ben is rescued by Lilith.
  • World's Strongest Man: The "Holy-Blooded", seven individuals with Supernatural Gold Eyes who protect Earth and who are considered the most powerful of the Exorcists.
