Planetary Moe (Webcomic)
Draw an oblate spheroid, that's the Earth. note
A 5-10 paneled Webcomic about personifications of the Solar System and other celestial bodies, following the adventures of Earth and their celestial friends.

The art style could be described in a way as Hidekaz Himaruya meets CLAMP. It incorporates elements and inspirations from both (with Hetalia: Axis Powers apparently a major influence) while at the same time retaining something distinctive from either two.

Main comics can be found HERE .

Compare Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls, My Moon, Stellarscape, and Nebula.

This series provides examples of:

  • All There in the Manual: Other characters aside from the Solar System, still has no character design and are only mentioned on character summaries. Other characters are drawn, but haven't appeared in the comic yet.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Earth is too androgynous for the other characters to tell, with some assuming Earth to be male and some female. Most simply don't think of it much at all.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Black Hole's skin is darker than most of the other characters but his exact ethnicity is impossible to pin down and his hair is apparently naturally white. Earth and Mercury gain darker skin colors after their redesign.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: Many of the stars in constellations wear headgear themed after their constellations.
  • Animesque: The characters have eastern-influenced designs. Fitting its Hetalia roots, the strips themselves are done in the style of 4-koma webcomics. After the 2017 revamp, the style switched over to faux-screenshot sets as if the comic had its own anime.
  • Anyone Can Die: Everyone has more or less come to terms with the fact that they can all die in some manner eventually, despite being incredibly long-lived beings.
  • Artistic Age:
    • The planets look barely out of their teens but are actually older than they look.
    • The stars on the other hand tend to look at least in their twenties for the most part.
  • Art Shift: In one strip, Saturn's style seemed to turn 3D whenever he was photographed.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Sun and Venus; Sun is constantly trying to woo her and she steadfastly rejects him, though it's implied that she's more interested in him than she admits to herself.
  • Big Fancy House: Jupiter has a very big house since he's the biggest planet... but it's enveloped in a perpetual storm.
  • Bland-Name Product:
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Sirius A talks back to the readers.
  • Cast of Personifications: The comic is about the personifications of various celestial bodies interacting with each other. They have the appearance of attractive young humans, and have pseudonyms that they use when visiting Earth. Yes, even Earth themself.
  • Color-Coded Characters: The Planets have their designated color schemes.
    • Sun: Light Yellow
    • Mercury: Dark Brown
    • Venus: Yellow
    • Earth: Green
    • Mars: Red
    • Jupiter: Brown
    • Saturn: Silver
    • Uranus: Blue-Green
    • Neptune: Blue
    • Pluto: Purple
  • Curtains Match the Window: Most of them have matching eye and hair colours, except for those that harbor life, like Earth.
  • Dream Sequence:
  • Either/Or Title: The alternate title for the webcomic is Planetary Moe, or: Solar System and Friends.
  • Fun T-Shirt: More like Fun Aprons.
    • Mercury's "Kiss the Oven" apron.
    • Mars' "I'm Not A Good Cook But I Love Ya!" apron.
    • Venus' "Master Chef" apron.
  • Imagine Spot: Earth and Venus imagines Neptune in a hair-dye commercial.
  • Limited Wardrobe:
    • The planets wear tracksuits most of the time. That said, they get to dress other than tracksuits on special holidays.
    • Other stars and entities generally wear either vintage, Victorian or pseudo-medieval attire.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: Uranus' 'NOM NOM'.
  • Shout-Out:
    • One of Earth's cameras is called "Viking".
    • As seen in the page caption, Earth owns a "Draw an oblate spheroid" shirt.
    • One strip has Earth buy a NASA t-shirt like a certain other personification of Earth... only for Luna to stick on some of their other space programs' logos as revenge for the many flags Earth puts on her. Ironically, Luna never wore the shirt herself despite looking more like the Earth-chan they were parodying than Earth did.
    • Several characters resemble loosely to the ones in Hetalia: Axis Powers, its inspiration comic. For example, one of the personifications living with Earth bears a passing resemblance to Poland. Also, Jupiter's design seems to have taken more than a few hints from Russia's.
  • Show Within a Show: The Sirius Show, hosted by Sirius A.
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Genderflipped Marty the alien has a ribbon on her head.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Venus is the only girl among the main cast. Unless you count Earth.
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: Despite all evidence to the contrary Venus turns out to be a man... but only in Sun's dream.
  • Vague Age: The characters look vaguely young adult-ish, despite the vast differences in planetary age.

Alternative Title(s): Solar System And Friends
