A major part of the series' identity comes from the fact that it's animated almost entirely in 3D Movie Maker—a 30-year old computer animation program designed for children—with occasional bits of 2D animation added in for good measure.
The pilot can be watched on the ''Mario Radio Show!!''
channel, and Skycolourgirl's Bandcamp can be found here.![]()
This series provides examples of:
- The Baby of the Bunch: Thompson is this, being 9 years-old compared to Ghillie being 37. Biff's age is currently unspecified, but it's safe to assume he's probably a decent bit older than his sister.
- Big Damn Heroes: Biff ends up having one of these moments, as he manages to kick a car out of the way right before it was about to hit Thompson and Ghillie while they were in Walgreen.
- Credits Gag: Sue Hitchen’s name is listed as “Soup Kitchen” in the credits, referencing how Biff manages to misinterpret their name.
-
Defictionalization: Skycolourgirl's songs can actually be purchased via their Bandcamp account.
- Exact Words: Walgreen Employee frustratingly claims that she will never sell Thompson and Ghillie bass strings; this ends up true, as she never actually does sell the two bass strings… because Thompson manages to steal them after Biff fakes being injured by a car as a distraction.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: Getting a closer look at Ghillie’s ID reveals that the show apparently takes place in Texasnote . His date of birth is also there, listed merely as “OLD”.
- G-Rated Drug: Ghillie claims that he huffs Rogaine, a hair-growth supplement, every day.
- Irony: At one point, a skeleton man walks into Walgreen and asks for Poppers, a muscle relaxant.
- Little Miss Snarker: After getting frustrated by Walgreen Employee's refusal to sell her and Ghillie bass strings, Thompson begins to slide rude comments behind her back, saying she "[doesn't] have to be such a bitch about it", among other remarks.Walgreen Employee: I wanna keep my job! I need my job. Do you want me to lose my job?
Thompson: (Yeah, a little.) - Made of Iron: Biff seems to be this, as he gets hit by car that sends him down a large hole and yet shows no signs of being hurt, save for him claiming to “need a bandaid”.
- Medium Blending: The show is animated in 3D Movie Maker, but has bits of 2D animation along with the occasional use of hyper-realistic images for close-up shots.
- Mood-Swinger: Thompson's demeanor tends to switch from being a sweet, mellow girl to a snarky one with a surprisingly foul mouth.
- Rage Breaking Point: Thompson eventually reaches this in the dispute with Walgreen Employee, threatening to "fuckign kill [herself]" if she doesn't get the bass strings. Ghillie's wary remarks towards her imply that this is something that happens on occasion.
- Ridiculously Human Robot: Thompson is apparently a robot girl, but never seems to do anything especially "robot-y", other than her voice courtesy of Synth V. This detail is acknowledged on her bio
. - Running Gag:
- The Walgreen logo changing in the background every scene, going from "walgreen", to "walgreem", to "Walgreee".
- Biff mishearing literally everything Sue Hitchens says to him.
- Shout-Out: "Walgreen" is an obvious nod to the pharmacy store Walgreens.
- Straight Man and Wise Guy: Biff tends to be the more level-headed adult of the band and is thus the straight man to Ghillie's laid-back wise guy.
- Stuff Blowing Up: Ghillie's bass strings "breaking" is depicted as them violently blowing up, because funny.
- Stylistic Suck: Played straight most of the time due to being made in 3D Movie Maker, but is subverted by the genuinely well-made 2D-animated segments sprinkled in.
- Theme Song: "Thinking 2 Much", played at the start of the pilot (before being interrupted) and later at the end, this time in full.
