Bridge Kids (Web Animation)

Bridge Kids is a YouTube animated web series created by Mike Carfora and Adam Mickiewicz in 2021. It's an absurdist [adult swim]-style dark comedy about a group of trashy teenage outcasts trying to pass the time in a poverty-stricken town.

List of episodes:

  1. Bridge Kids
  2. Smokin Butts
  3. Halloween
  4. Killer Bars
  5. Free Strokes
  6. The Birthday Boy
  7. Stranger Danger
  8. Chair Jordans
  9. Moe's Girl
  10. One Man's Trash
  11. Good Fellas
  12. My Putrid Existence
  13. Player Hater

The series provides examples of:

  • Adorably Precocious Child: All women are instantly smitten by Marc Anthony's cuteness.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Moe is a prolific womanizer, but the way he ogles and fondles Joey's muscles (even passing up the chance to flirt with a hot girl to do so) is a bit suspect...
  • Ambiguously Christian: Skid has referenced The Bible more than once and wears a cross necklace but that's the most that can be gathered about his beliefs.
  • Axes at School: Isaiah is perpetually on the brink of committing a school shooting, and almost does in Killer Bars... but the cops beat him to it.
  • Black Dot Pupils: The general art style of Bridge Kids features this.
  • The Bully: Moe (and to a lesser extent his minion Skid) nominally serves this role towards the other student characters, but he's honestly such a tryhard loser that it's hard to take him seriously.
  • Dull Surprise: Lars and Fugger don't bat an eye at anything, no matter how violent. Except whatever Isaiah had under his bed.
  • Evil Cripple: Skid is a wheelchair-bound bully.
  • First Friend: Isaiah's one-sided friendship with Lars.
  • Gonk: Most of the characters are naturally weird-looking due to the artstyle, but Fugger is absolutely hideous thanks to his oversized brace-wearing chompers.
  • Genuine Human Hide: The killer in the Halloween episode cuts off the babysitter's face and wears it like a mask.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: Lars doesn't have a mean bone in his body, compared to the much more belligerent (but equally dumb) Fugger, Moe, and Skid.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Fugger's defining character trait. He believes he's an expert on everything, but everything that comes out of his mouth is a combination of misinformation and outright lies.
  • Loser Protagonist: All of the main characters are losers in their own way.
  • Mistaken for Pedophile: Fugger is mistaken by three women to be a pedophile when he tries to take Marc Anthony away from Skid and Moe.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Marc Anthony is named after the ancient Roman politician.
  • Obfuscating Disability: In Chair Jordans, Fugger sprains an ankle and insists on being entirely wheelchair-bound, even though he's perfectly capable of walking on it.
  • Pretty Fly for a White Guy: Moe is clearly going for a Slim Shady thing.
  • Spiteful Spit: Moe pushes Fugger over and spits on him after Fugger exposes him for pretending Marc Anthony is his brother.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Marc Anthony just looks like a tiny version of his brother. Acknowledged in-universe in Stranger Danger when Lars and Fugger have to prove that Marc Anthony isn't related to Moe.
  • Unexplained Recovery: The homeless man from the first episode somehow returns no worse for wear in One Man's Trash despite getting run over by a truck.
  • Unfortunate Names: Moe and Skid made their online screen name "Rap1st", as in "Rap First"... unfortunately, it looks like something else.
  • The Un-Reveal: Lars and Fugger are disturbed by whatever Isaiah has under his bed, which is never revealed. Considering these are kids who don't bat an eye at being being violently murdered in front of them, that's saying a lot.
  • Thinking Out Loud: Isaiah is prone to monologuing to himself about his disgust toward humanity.
  • Useless Boyfriend: Moe is too much of a pussy to walk April home, which eventually gets her stalked by Isaiah, so she breaks up with him.
    • Likewise, Lars ends up being just as useless to April, as he is too lax and inactive to defend her.
  • The Voiceless: It's unclear if Marc Anthony can speak, or if he's actually mute, as even in-person he only communicates through writing notes.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Isaiah finds kindred spirits in Moe and Skid until he takes things too far toward Moe's ex-girlfriend.
