Sticky Business (Video Game)

Sticky Business is a casual business Simulation Game developed by Spellgarden Games and published by Assemble Entertainment. Originally conceived in a 3-week Game Jam, it was released in full on July 17, 2023 on Steam, April 17, 2024 on the Nintendo Switch, and on March 14, 2025 on the PlayStation and Xbox.

You manage your online sticker shop by designing stickers, printing them, and then filling orders by packing the stickers and shipping them. Creating stickers involves putting various components together in the in-game drawing program, changing their colors, resizing, rotating, flipping, and layering them as desired. Afterward, you arrange your stickers in sticker sheets for printing, then pack and ship them to your customers. You then can use your hard-earned money and fame (represented by hearts) to buy upgrades such as more sticker slots, colors, foil effects, packing materials, and especially sticker components.

Your customers not only send you compliments as they order your stickers, but some of them have their lives influenced by your store. These regulars update you through text messages, and you follow up on their stories by fulfilling their special requests. The game also has streaming integration so that your viewers can also become your customers.

The game's success has led to several content updates being made, mostly by adding new sticker parts. Three major updates, Plan With Me, Camp Zinnias, and Book of Shadows, are paid DLC that add new customer stories in addition to sticker parts, with Gentle Troll Entertainment, the creator of Tavern Talk, writing the stories for Camp Zinnias. There were also free updates that added more Pride sticker parts and a crossover with Among Us.

Sticky tropes:

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Some of the regulars of your sticker shop are humans with unusual skin colors.
  • Animal Lover:
    • Bernd S. likes animal stickers and orders them from you to help him cope with his burnout from work. He then quits his job to work at the animal shelter at Patrick K.'s suggestion, and Bernd feels happier about himself.
    • In Camp Zinnias, Niko likes cute animal stickers, particularly the ones in the camping set.
  • Animal Motifs: Two magical cases in Book of Shadows:
    • Vin asks you for a raven sticker because it's his band's emblem; ravens are common familiars of witches.
    • After investigating the group of kids who like the witchy aesthetic, Sasha asks you for a goat sticker not only because it's magical, but also because she believes that her new witch's club is the Greatest of All Time.
  • Anti-Frustration Features:
    • To prevent you from accidentally mixing up your orders, you're locked into one once you start packing the stickers for it.
    • In the 2023 and 2025 Christmas updates, if you miss a day in collecting daily sticker parts, they can be bought at the upgrade shop anytime using hearts.
    • The Quality of Life Update added new, highly-requested features:
      • Special customers requesting stickers are marked with an exclamation point while those whose stories are completed are marked with a check.
      • There's an end-of-day report telling you why an order failed.
      • The order rate for new stickers has been increased, improving your revenue in the long-term.
      • In addition to the existing layering features in the Sticker Creator, you can bring sticker elements to the front or send them to the back. There's also a Trash button at the bottom right of the screen to instantly start over.
  • The Artifact: Starting in Camp Zinnias, some sticker parts have variants that can be changed once placed in the Sticker Creator, such as the ground sticker having desert and water variants. Book of Shadows introduces additional potion sticker parts whose colors can be changed the same way, but the potion parts from the original witch set still need to be bought separately because they were introduced at launch, before this quality-of-life feature was implemented.
  • Astrologer: Two in Book of Shadows:
    • Hilda has a sizeable collection of magical literature, particularly on astrology, so she orders some zodiac stickers to help her in her studies.
    • Upon Coco discovering astrology's her new passion, she secretly takes it up, without her uncle's knowledge since he's training her to become a master shapeshifter like him, and asks you for some constellation stickers to motivate her.
  • Audience Participation: The game has Twitch Integration, where your viewers can become your customers and order your stickers.
  • Beautiful Singing Voice: Two instances in Camp Zinnias.
    • Mar overhears Alex Singing in the Shower and encourages her to sing for the talent show because her voice sounds beautiful. She doesn't despite the stickers Mar gives her to cheer her up, and also Mar and Niko calling out Giulia for making her nervous about performing, but Alex decides to sing for them at the campfire instead.
    • When Ajay hears Giulia's singing at the talent show, he thinks she's just a show-off, but he's surprised at how nice her voice actually sounds.
  • Bile Fascination: In-Universe in Book of Shadows. When Vin's band messes up their performance because of their uncontrollable magic instruments, people come to watch their gigs just to see if more accidents would happen. The lead singer hates this reputation his band has just received.
  • Black Bead Eyes: All the regular customers except for the frog agent have simple black dots for eyes.
  • Bland-Name Product: One of the gaming sticker parts you can collect is the Guerrilla Collective.
  • Blind Musician: In Camp Zinnias, one musician is revealed to be blind in the ending photo of her storyline Mar sends you.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Book of Shadows is the first DLC not to add new storyline achievements.
  • Camping Episode: Camp Zinnias focuses on Jordan and their happy campers as they host them at Camp Zinnias. Jordan orders some stickers from your store to encourage their campers to express themselves, and also encourages them to order them, too.
  • Cartoon Creature: In Book of Shadows, Coco, Rory, and Charly are Funny Animals with indeterminate characteristics. Coco and Rory in particular are of the same brown-furred, purple-maned, vaguely rodentlike species.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • Dawn and Daisy meet at a chance encounter at the café, and they bond over being uni students and their love for your stickers. They later open their own art shop, with Daisy doing the art and Dawn managing the business.
    • To combat loneliness, Shirley takes up paper crafting and joins a book club, where she finds two other ladies also into her hobby. She shares her love for your stickers with them and also starts her own crafting workshop for them.
    • After being discharged from the hospital, Max decides to stay in contact with his new friends he made there, for they're also skateboarders.
    • In Book of Shadows, it takes Sasha a while to find a new friend with your grimoire stickers, but she and Ellie hit it off with their mutual love for magic and witches.
  • Company Cameo: Spellgarden Games' logo appears on the upper-left corner of the protagonist's browser.
  • Company Cross-References: One of the sticker parts you can get from the 2025 Advent Calendar event is a plush raven, a reference to Spellgarden Games' latest release at the time, Ritual Of Raven.
  • Computer Screen Story: While the game is primarily a sticker shop simulator, you follow the stories of your regulars through their text messages.
  • Consolation Prize: In Camp Zinnias, Ajay orders stickers from you to give to all the talent show contestants as participation awards, while Diego orders some to cheer up those who lost the "Together For the Environment" contest.
  • Creepy Crows: In Book of Shadows, Vin's band has a raven for their emblem to symbolize their witchy nature, but after the magical mishap at one of their gigs, the lead singer blames it on the raven, so Vin asks you for an owl sticker instead as part of the rebranding.
  • Crossover Cameo: The Among Us update added 60 sticker parts and 270 sticker variants featuring Crewmates and various elements from the game such as the Emergency Button and terms like "Impostor" and "Emergency Meeting".
  • Detective Animal: Two of your regular customers are an anthropomorphic raccoon and a frog who are detectives.
  • Detective Mole: The frog agent teams up with Inspector P. to investigate the sticker vandal, when the former is the vandal all along.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: One of your customers tries asking his crush out by gifting her the stickers his dad bought from your store. However, she only likes him as a friend, he's fine with hanging out with her platonically, anyway, and even gifts her more stickers for her birthday.
  • Downloadable Content: The game has released paid DLC that adds more sticker parts and glitter effects, etc. along with more customer stories.
    • Plan With Me adds more than 100 stationery-themed sticker parts along with new glitter effects, candies and small gifts, and 10 new customer stories. It was released on December 18, 2023.
    • Camp Zinnias adds almost a hundred nature and camping-themed sticker parts, new glitter paper and trinkets, and 10 more customer stories focused on a camping group and their instructor. It was released on August 15, 2024.
    • Book of Shadows adds 84 witch-themed sticker parts including variants and also new glitter wrapper and goodies, and 10 more customer stories. It was released on May 26, 2025.
  • An Entrepreneur Is You: You run your own online sticker shop, where you design stickers by assembling components, and then sell them by printing, packing, and shipping them.
  • Excuse Plot: You start your own online shop, with your Old Friend Julia Klein supporting your business. Other than following the storylines of the other regulars, the most that you do in the game is designing and selling your stickers.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: In Camp Zinnias, Ajay and Olli wear mismatched earrings and ear piercings, respectively, yet their profile pictures still look decent.
  • Faux Furby: One of the sticker parts you can get from the Steam promo for Thrifty Business is Burby.
  • Funny Animal: A few of your customers are anthropomorphic animals such as Inspector P. (a raccoon), [[Blatant Lies "@notafrog" (who's actually a frog), Coco, Charly (both Cartoon Creatures, with the former being vaguely rodentlike), and the latter's friend (a rabbit).
  • Funny Background Event: In Book of Shadows, Azelia's final message says that she stopped casting love spells on Loki because they became a couple after Loki confessed his true feelings for her offscreen, while she's not sure where she went wrong with her last spell. In the ending photo she sends you, a cat can be seen walking on two legs in the background.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation:
    • The amount of in-game time taken to make a sticker is the same no matter how long in real time you actually take to create it; whether you slap on a few sticker parts or take a real-world hour designing an intricate sticker, it'll always consume the same-sized segment in the timer.
    • If a special customer requests a sticker with words on it, you need to use the pre-made words from the text section of the upgrade shop in order to progress their storyline. Spelling them with other sticker parts doesn't count.
  • Gender-Inclusive Writing: The Gingerbread People sticker parts aren't called Gingerbread "Man" and "Woman", but rather "Gingerbread Person" and "Gingerbread Person With Dress".
  • Good Behavior Points: Mrs. Honey gets inspired by a colleague rewarding their students with stickers for doing their homework, so she orders some music stickers from you to do the same.
  • Gotta Catch Them All: There are achievements for buying all the upgrades and sticker components, and there are counters tracking which ones you've already bought. For the latter, you have to use your existing components in the stickers you sell to level them up and gain hearts, which are used to buy more sticker parts and colors. The other upgrades, on the other hand, are simply bought with coins.
  • Holiday Mode:
    • The Stick or Treat update added Halloween-themed sticker parts, candies, packing materials, and foil effects.
    • The 2023 Christmas update added festive sticker parts, candies, packing materials, and foil effects, the first of which were unlocked daily during December.
  • I Meant to Do That: In Book of Shadows, Vin's band gets their act together for their graduation performance... until the keyboard bursts into fireworks behind him at the final song. The principal goes up and thanks them for "cutting out the shenanigans", while everyone else thinks that was on purpose. Vin couldn't agree more in his final message to you.
  • Interface Spoiler:
    • If a special customer doesn't ask you for a certain sticker type in order for you to unlock their storyline, it means they will eventually contact you later in another customer's storyline.
    • During special events where you collect new sticker parts every day, their section in the Upgrade store has an incomplete checklist, even if you bought all the available components at the time. This is because there are still stickers to be unlocked in the following days, but if you miss a day, they can just be bought with hearts.
  • In-Universe Game Clock: Each action in running your online sticker shop (designing stickers, printing them, packing them, and shipping them) consumes a portion of the in-game day, and you can't do any of them if they exceed the time limit. Relaxed Mode decreases the amount of time they take, while Limitless Mode removes the timer entirely.
  • Language Barrier: In Plan With Me, Tim can't read Sanjay's letters because they're written in Hindi, so he takes his time to learn the language so he can understand him.
  • Lions and Tigers and Humans... Oh, My!: A few of your regulars at your online sticker shop are Funny Animals while the rest are humans and a vampire. Daisy's case gets subverted when the picture she sends you at the end of her storyline reveals that she's a human, while the cat is just her profile pic.
  • Literal Metaphor: In Book of Shadows, Azelia asks you for some butterfly stickers because she's planning to "put them in someone's tummy" — as in she'll cast a spell on him to literally put butterflies in his stomach. Upon rechecking her spellbook, she realizes she should've cast a moth spell instead because she's not sure if her spell worked on her crush, so she asks for moth stickers this time.
  • Local Reference: The protagonist's home, where they run their sticker shop, is in an undisclosed location, but one of the sticker parts they can use is the Wolpertinger, a creature from German mythology. It's a reference to Spellgarden Games being based in Germany.
  • Long-Distance Relationship: In Camp Zinnias, Zelia and Hazel decide to keep in touch after summer camp by sending each other postcards and compiling photo albums of their memories together.
  • Masculine–Feminine Gay Couple: Two of your customers are female university students who hook up after a chance encounter at a café and decide to start their own sticker shop together. One of them has Boyish Short Hair while the other wears buns and a flower crown in her hair.
  • The Matchmaker: In Camp Zinnias, Jae-won helps his friend Zelia set up a romantic dinner for Hazel, while the latter's friend Diego encourages her to ask Zelia out, all while she and Hazel are unaware of their mutual crush. After Jae-won and Diego successfully set their friends up, Jae-won and Diego themselves end up going on a Double Date with them.
  • Money for Nothing: Early on, you have to craft your stickers carefully since you need to cover the printing costs and the sticker's size is directly proportionate to its selling price. But after buying all the upgrades that need coins, it's impossible to go bankrupt since you're likely going to have plenty of money (roughly in the thousands) by that time. You can then take your time in earning hearts to buy the upgrades that need them, especially new sticker parts, or spending your coins on trinkets to pack along with your orders for extra sticker XP.
  • Music Is Eighth Notes: Two of the music sticker parts you can buy are solo and dual eighth notes.
  • Mutual Pining: In Camp Zinnias, Zelia and Hazel have a mutual crush, but they both are nervous on if the other will return her feelings or not, so they order some stickers from you as gifts to try asking each other out. With the help of their respective friends Jae-won and Diego, Zelia and Hazel successfully start dating after having a romantic dinner together.
  • Nice Guy:
    • Julia understands the protagonist's decision to give her their new stickers for free, yet she still supports them as a friend by buying them, anyway.
Julia: Your creativity deserves recognition, so consider it an investment in our friendship!
    • Seeing his friend Bernd get burned out from work motivates Patrick to buy him animal stickers to cheer him up. He also convinces him to work at the animal shelter and walk dogs with him to lift Bernd's spirits.
  • No Full Name Given: Most of your regular customers only have first names, with some having surname initials, while only a handful have full last names.
  • Pen Pals: In Plan With Me, Tim and Sanjay are best friends even though they're half a world apart, the former being from England and the latter from India. They write letters to each other to keep in touch. They finally meet in person when Sanjay overcomes his fear of flying to visit Tim.
  • Plaster Cast Doodling: Max Davis orders your stickers to decorate his leg cast.
  • Play Every Day: The game had special events during December 2023 and 2025 where you could receive special sticker parts every day. If you miss a day, they'll just be available in the Upgrade shop for hearts.
  • Post-Treatment Lollipop: In Plan With Me, Dr. Isabella Diaz used to bribe her patients with lollipops, but she switches to using your stickers instead so she won't give them a sugar rush.
  • Power Incontinence: In Book of Shadows, Vin's band causes several magical accidents at their gigs because they lose control of their powers when they get excited, not because their instruments or logo was cursed, as they initially thought.
  • Production Foreshadowing: From December 3-9, 2025, the game held another Advent Calendar event where once a day, you could receive new sticker parts as sneak peaks for Spellgarden Games' next game, Thrifty Business. If you missed a day, the sticker parts would just be available in the Upgrade Shop for hearts. After the event, the game also had a Steam promo where wishlisting and following Thrifty Business' page would give you 15 more stickers from that set.
  • Queer Colors: While some of your customers order any Pride stickers, Jae-won specifically asks for an asexual flag sticker for Hazel, a homoromantic ace.
  • Rainbow Lite: The rainbow sticker part lacks orange and indigo while the rainbow washi tape lacks only the latter. True to its design, the Rainbow Pride flag is also missing indigo.
  • Rare Candy: You can pack candy or small gifts along with the ordered stickers to instantly increase the amount of XP each sticker part used in the order gets. This can also be done by adding more stickers not part of the order.
  • Script Breaking: In Book of Shadows, Azelia asks you for a flower sticker using the flower parts from the second witch set to help her activate her love spell for Loki, but after you make it for her, Loki texts you that he accidentally read her messages about her plan. However, if you mess up Azelia's order or don't fulfill it for the day, it's possible to get Loki's message before you succeed in the order and get Azelia's thank-you message, making you feel more guilty of helping her out because you already know how Loki feels about this.
  • Seers: In Book of Shadows, the drummer of Vin's band of witchesnote  is clairvoyant because they predicted that Vin would order your raven stickers just in time for their next gig.
  • Shout-Out:
    • In Plan With Me:
    • One of the preset phrases in the second Pride sticker part set is "Born This Way", which has been adopted by the LGBT+ community as a self-acceptance slogan.
    • In Book of Shadows, Charly gets into Dungeons & Dragons, so she asks you for a dragon sticker as a treat.
  • Singing in the Shower: In Camp Zinnias, Mar overhears her shy best friend Alex sing in the shower and wants to encourage her to sing at the camp's talent show, so Mar orders some stickers from you to give to her.
  • Smitten Teenage Girl: In Camp Zinnias, Zelia and Hazel are teenagers at summer camp who are adorably flustered whenever they text you about their crushes, not realizing they're crushing on each other.
  • Strong Family Resemblance:
    • Hanna and Alex Sky have the same shade of green skin.
    • David is a spitting image of his birth father Marc, having his pale purple skin.
    • Plan With Me:
      • Emily Stone looks almost like her mom Violet, just with pink-and-purple dreadlocks instead of bushy brown hair.
      • In Carlota's ending photo of her mom, she has the same orange skin and dark brown hair as her.
    • In Book of Shadows, Coco's the same brown-furred, purple-maned Cartoon Creature species as her uncle Rory, minus his glasses.
  • Supporting Protagonist: In Camp Zinnias, Niko and Mar take on the role in Alex's storyline. Alex is nervous about singing for the talent show but never texts you about it, so Niko and Mar do that for her and order your stickers to cheer her up and help her overcome her stage fright.
  • Take Your Time: While there is an in-game time limit on how many days you can fulfill orders for generic customers, special customers wait for you for as long as you need, until you make stickers with their requested sticker parts to advance their storylines.
  • Talent Contest: In Camp Zinnias, Jordan hosts a talent show at the end of summer camp to encourage their campers to step out of their comfort zones, with Ajay assisting Jordan in organizing it. They both ask you to make some stickers with badges and other camping symbols to give out as participation awards.
  • Taxonomic Term Confusion: Bernd asks you to make rodent stickers such as rats, rabbits, and capybaras. Rabbits are actually lagomorphs but are commonly mistaken for rodents.
  • Tempting Fate: In Book of Shadows, Francine tells you that she'll be having her first art exhibition soon, but a few days later, a pipe bursts above her studio and floods it, destroying months of her hard work overnight. She lampshades this when she texts you that she jinxed her last message.
  • Thanking the Viewer: The end of the credits thanks you, the player, for playing the game.
  • Unmanly Secret: In Camp Zinnias, one of the male campers wants to take up crocheting but is afraid of being made fun of by the others for engaging in a "girly" hobby. Jordan then asks you to make a camping activity sticker for them to encourage him to take up crocheting without fear of being judged.
  • Variable Mix: The main theme seamlessly transitions into its variants when you're designing a new sticker, printing it, or ending the in-game day.
  • Ventriloquism: In Camp Zinnias, Olli performs a ventriloquist act for the talent show, which surprises Ajay the most out of all the acts performed.
  • Video Game Perversity Prevention: The devs announced in the Spellgarden Games Discord Server that they won't be adding individual letters as sticker elements to prevent people from spelling inappropriate words in their stickers. However, there's no stopping them from using other sticker parts to make such content...
  • White-Tailed Reindeer: The reindeer sticker part is designed after a white-tailed deer instead of an actual reindeer.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: In Camp Zinnias, Jae-won and Diego, who are good friends of Zelia and Hazel, respectively, do an improv act called "Drag Queens in Space" for the camp's talent show.
  • Writer's Block:
    • Carla F. has her own sticker shop like you, but she struggles with a creative block because she believes she has to follow trends in order to make a profit. She then decides to make her own sticker designs, and her new stickers get sold out on the first three days.
    • In Plan With Me, Anja used to be an artist 40 years ago, but she gave up her passion to work as a caregiver. She orders watercolor stickers from you for some inspiration to cure her artist's block. Even after quitting her job, she still feels lost, but she realizes that she hasn't been taking care of herself, so she orders more stickers from you to cheer herself up. At the end, she sends you a drawing of herself along with a cat representing you as thanks for motivating her.
    • In Camp Zinnias, Giulia gets writer's block when trying to compose a song for the talent show, so she asks you for a guitar sticker to get her creativity back.
