Run, climb, and fight.
Replaced is an upcoming 2½D cyberpunk action-adventure game developed by Sad Cat Studios
and published by Thunderful. It will release on April 14, 2026 for Steam and Xbox Series X|S.
The story takes place in a dystopia version of the 1980s and follows an Artificial Intelligence called Reach, who has taken control of a human body and travels across Phoenix City to discover the truth behind its creation.
Replaced provides examples of:
- The '80s: The game's official website states the story takes place in an alternative version of the 1980s that was wrecked by nuclear weapons.
- Artificial Intelligence: As mentioned on the website and official trailer, Reach is an AI who somehow ended up in control of a human body.
- Barbarian Tribe: The release date trailer shows Reach about to battle a group of underground marauders.
- Big Damn Heroes: At the end of the demo, Reach is about to be killed by the Termite sniper following his battle with the Termite tank and his goons before the train carriage the sniper is on is crashed into by Tempest's car, sending it flying.
- Crapsack World: The official website states the story takes place in a world where America was ruined by nuclear destruction while criminals run rampant and lives are frequently lost.
- Cyberpunk with a Chance of Rain: Trailer 2 shows Reach running through the run before getting called out by someone whistling.
- Died in Your Arms Tonight: The release date trailer shows Reach carrying someone's body before collapsing to his knees.
- Finishing Move: The Huxley Gun ability, as shown in the demo, allows Reach to use their gun to instantly killing an enemy; using the ability mid-combo shows a flashy scene of Reach dodging past the enemy before finishing them off.
- Hanging by the Fingers: In the release date trailer, Reach is holding onto a dangling pipe with only one hand.
- Out of the Inferno: In the release date trailer, Reach watches a figure wearing a cape emerge from the fire.
- Traintop Battle: The release date trailer shows Reach being chased by an aircraft while on top of a train.
