Playtime with Percy (Video Game)
Playtime with Percy is a game made by FazieFunbear inspired by the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. Besides introducing a point-and-click mechanic to use background elements to fend off enemies, the gameplay is task-based, meaning the length of the levels are determined by how long you take to complete these tasks (instead of only surviving for a fixed time).

Nick, a young man who is trying to earn money after being fired, is re-hired back when his boss offers him $250 (and maybe even a basket of presents) if he works for five nights. Not wanting to miss the chance, Nick accepts the job in Percy's Playhouse. Not only he is going to watch over the animatronics there, but he must also care for a Pal Percy, a Tamagotchi-like toy that becomes essential to progress each night. As time passes, the animatronics soon crave more attention than what Nick was asking for, actively trying to hunt him down.

The game can be found on Game Jolt here and itch.io here.

Playtime with Percy provides examples of:

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Percy and his friends, who are all supposed to be friendly, are apparently targeting Nick for helping with the takedown of the playhouse. Pal Percy, who is also meant to be a friendly virtual pet toy, is not only forcing Nick to be his friend, but is behind every animatronic's hostile actions, all for the sake of making Nick stay.
  • Alliterative Name: Nick Nicholson. The same goes for the animatronics like Percy Poodle.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: Checkpoints are introduced for each new phase in the boss fight against Pal, which is convenient since every new phase introduces a new obstacle to hinder your progress.
  • Anti-Villain: The animatronics are apparently only going after Nick in order to not get sold out after the playhouse is destroyed. According to Pal's bio, he's the one puppeteering their violent actions.
  • Benevolent Boss: Despite firing Nick for unknown reasons, the boss re-hires him back with the promise of a good pay. After the playhouse falls down due to the fight against Pal, he scoffs it off and asks Nick to come along with him to eat.
  • Beware of Vicious Dog: Percy is an animatronic poodle and a very aggressive one too.
  • Body Horror: The withered versions of the animatronics definitely have seen better days. Pal, the combination of the Percy Poodle animatronic and the Pal Percy toy controlling it, is tangled with cables, has his eyes removed, and his chest torn wide open for the toy to see from inside.
  • Cats Are Mean: Charlie is a clown cat and is actively malicious. He is also the one who periodically appears in the room in the post-nights tasks room to stop you from selling out his friends. Played with in the aspect that Pal is controlling every animatronic, including Charlie.
  • Color-Coded Speech: While white text is used for everyone else, Nick's speech is in blue, his boss' speech is in red, and Pal Percy's sounds and speech is in yellow.
  • The Determinator: Despite the many dangers the playhouse possesses, Nick will persevere through them for those 250 bucks and for the memories he had with the playhouse and its animatronics.
  • Evil Laugh: Pal (or more particularly Pal Percy within Percy Poodle) has a wickedly demented laugh once he makes clear of his intentions to force Nick to be his friend forever. He's almost always laughing as he sends the Poodle Pals and Tama-Terrors to attack Nick along with Pal. He takes the time to laugh before he kills Nick - and gets interrupted by a wrecking ball that breaks him off of Percy Poodle.
  • Fake-Out Fade-Out: After inserting Pal Percy into Percy Poodle's chest, the screen fades to black and the credits for Director, 2D Graphics, and Programming start to roll... followed by "Initializing... Substitute Accepted..." More loading text appears until Pal's arm pulls away the black credits screen.
  • Fallen-on-Hard-Times Job: After being fired, Nick was looking for any jobs to make meets end. He is re-hired back for $250 if he watches over the facility for five nights and does some tasks after finishing the nights.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Nick asks "...Where am I going to find a spare battery?" just before his Pal Percy toy starts beeping again. He decides to put it inside Percy as a spare battery, unwittingly activating the Final Boss.
  • Foreshadowing: Pal Percy's eyes, which sit atop his head like ears, look inwards towards each other, making them resemble demon horns. This foreshadows the hidden threat the toy possesses.
  • Hostile Animatronics: It wouldn’t be a fan-game of Five Nights At Freddy's if it didn't have them, now would it?
  • If I Can't Have You…: Non-romantic example. Pal is obsessed with being Nick's friend, but when he refuses to return the sentiment and take Pal back home with him, the latter decides to off him.
Pal: I DID give you a chance, Nick. But it looks like I'll have to end this friendship myself... permanently.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: Instead of waiting for the disc to play to heed the warnings about the virtual pet toys, Nick keeps playing with them. This bites him hard when he uses his toy to replace the battery of Percy Poodle, granting the corrupted toy control of the animatronic.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Truman the bird is the only Custom Hour character that doesn't appear as ripped or deformed. The reason is that he's not real, and only exists in his advertisements, but he kills you if you don't dismiss the ads in time.
  • Recalled Media: After it came out that the Pal Percy toys were starting to become a dangerous threat to children when used regularly, all units were recalled and Paltronics began offering refunds to anyone who returned the toy to stores that sold them. invoked
  • "Simon Says" Mini-Game: One of the mini-games to repair Farmer Felix is to do a Simon Says puzzle (by clicking colored boxes in a sequence) to fix his eyesight.
  • Suck E. Cheese's: Implied. Percy's Playhouse, scheduled to be demolished by Friday, is the failed entertainment establishment that Nick used to work in (and is re-hired back in for five nights to help with the animatronics).
  • Unexpected Gameplay Change: Downplayed. Finishing a level switches from "task-based" to "survive for an amount of time" (in usual Five Nights at Freddy's fashion) near the end of the fight against Pal, as the Early Model Pal toy dies and tasks can no longer be done on it.
  • Virtual Pet: Nick has one to pass the nights because he got bored having to watch over the facility for long hours. This however, is a crucial object to progress the nights because instead of waiting, Nick must feed, provide water and play with the poodle inside the toy to progress the night, while the animatronics are hunting you down. The virtual pet toy turns out to be evil.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: During the credits, we see photos of the animatronics (that didn't get destroyed in the demolition) try their best to live their lives.
