Heartlight

Go To

Heartlight is a 1990 Puzzle Game developed by Janusz Pelc for Amiga. The PC port was made in 1994.

The game is predominately notable due to being the very first Polish video game that was done from start to finish as a commercial project, and then also successfully released abroad. Gameplay-wise, it's one of the numerous Boulder Dash clones of the era:

Heartlight contains examples of:

  • All There in the Manual: It's a very simplistic thing, but that's the only place where the name of your character or the fact he's an elf is mentioned.
  • Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: Dying simply resets the current level. And again. And again...
  • Puzzle Game: Your goal is to move Percival the elf across the level and collect all hearts present, without dying or blocking your movement with objects that can change their current position.
  • Save Point: Averted. There are no save states of any kind. Abandoning the game means you have to start right from the start.
