Duke Nukem 3D

Duke Nukem 3D hit PCs in early 1996. A hypermasculine parody of both '80s action films and contemporary first-person shooters (particularly Doom and Wolfenstein), the game follows the titular Duke Nukem, an egotistical pervert who— despite his many flaws— decides to fight back against an alien invasion with as many firearms as humanly possible. Over the years, Duke Nukem 3D has amassed a dedicated following of both speedrunners and casuals who enjoy the crass humor and over-the-top action, making it a bona fide classic of the FPS genre.
