Basic Trope: Game content that's unlocked after beating the game.
  • Straight: After beating the game, the player unlocks a few bonus levels.
  • Exaggerated: After beating the game, the player unlocks more difficult version of every level, and an extra bonus world, with its own harder versions. It is to the point where post-game content takes up the majority of content in the game.
  • Downplayed:
    • After beating the game, the player unlocks an extra outfit.
    • After beating the game, the gameplay resumes but with harder enemies in earlier levels.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted: After beating the game, many levels become permanently locked.
  • Subverted: After beating the game, there is a message that says "Bonus world unlocked!". However, upon reaching the bonus world marker on the world map, it disappears with a message "NOT!"
  • Double Subverted: After beating the game, there is a message that says "Bonus world unlocked!" but then a message "NOT!" appears. After a few seconds, the message "Just kidding! Here's your bonus world." appears.
  • Parodied: The game's story consists of a single easy level, and the rest of the game is unlocked after beating it.
  • Zig-Zagged: A blank space in the game's world map teases a secret bonus world, but upon beating the final boss, nothing happens. That is, until the player gets 100% completion, where they get the key to the bonus world... that doesn't work. A message saying "Coming soon!" appears... and the game is promptly discontinued.
  • Averted:
    • Beating the game does not unlock bonus content.
    • An Endless Game has, by definition, no ending to put content after.
  • Lampshaded: "Isn't the final boss supposed to be, you know, the final challenge of the game?"
  • Invoked: A guard stops Bob from entering the post-game bonus world before the final boss is beaten, on the basis that he may find it too hard and give up.
  • Exploited: An ally promises a secret post-game world to motivate Bob to continue his journey.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: Bob breaks into the bonus world before being supposed to. A guard tries to stop him, but realizes there's no reason why Bob can't enter and leaves.
  • Reconstructed: After failing hundreds of times, Bob realizes the purpose of the world being limited to the post-game and willingly puts off doing it until then.
