She’s Out Of My Life (Music)
“She’s Out Of My Life” is a song by Michael Jackson. It is an extremely depressing lovesick song. It was from Michael's breakthrough album Off the Wall. The song was a moderate chart scuess.

The Music Video depicts Michael in the darkness while sitting on a chair, and he cries while singing about losing his girlfriend.

She’s out of my tropes:

  • Break the Cutie: The whole song is about this happening to Michael, as the singer, feeling this way, and the part where he suffers it the most is at the end when he breaks down as it fades to silence.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Before becoming the Trope Codifier for the Concept Video with Michael Jackson's Thriller, MJ made a minimalist Performance Video that doesn't even have his dancing.
  • Downer Ending: The whole song is about one, and bonus points for that Michael begins bawling at the end.
  • Grief Song: About the singer losing someone.
  • Minimalism: There is not much more than MJ singing on a bar stool in a plain black background with brief light effects at the beginning and the end.
  • Split Screen: Some sections of the video feature a closeup of MJ singing on the right adjacent to a more distant shot of him singing on the left.
