  • The opposite of "there's an xkcd strip for this". "The fuck you mean there's an Achewood strip for this?"
• The Adventures of Dr. McNinja: "Ninjas can't catch you if you're on fire."
• In-Universe example: One Bedfellows strip parodies the phenomenon by having Fatigue and a pal of his giving Sheen a cheeseburger only to mirror the "I Can Haz A Cheezburger" meme, much to Sheen's extreme irritation, who then yells at them to get out, resulting in Fatigue and his friend cooking spaghetti to mirror another meme.
• Awkward Zombie: While editing the comic with other ones for humorous effect is a proud tradition in the AZ forums, the only one to spread to the rest of the internet are the ones featuring mash ups of Spare the Rod, with the last panel being a spectacular recent failure
  • If someone had combined this with the miscarriage CAD strip, the internet might have imploded.
• Better Days has a few:
  • Jessica's tongue.

  • "Oh balls."◊ Several gag edits of Better Days use this alone as its gag, altering the faces as needed.
• A popular redub of the webcomic The Black Blood Alliance spawned a few mini-memes. "I will deflect the cat's fangs... WITH MY FACE!" "Stupidclaw? STUPIDCLAW NOOOO!"
• Brawl in the Family has turned its take on Waluigi into a meme, mainly among the comic's own forums but rapidly spreading.

    • Waluigi has entered the room. What will you do, Master Belch? ... That is incorrect, Master Belch.
  • Based on the already memetic 'FALCON (insert action here)' meme...
    • "FALCON SNEAK! FALCON SNEAK! FALCO- *gunned down by soldiers*"
• One line from The Broken Mirror: "Stay here for a minute whilst I go and get some ice creams", an example of the "flowery" language used by some of the characters in the comic.
• Multiple people and even other webcomics have edited or imitated a key panel from Ctrl+Alt+Del's Convenient Miscarriage Story Arc, either to emphasize the Narm of the original comic or for Black Comedy. This has gotten to the point where giving the Internet an image composition tool of any kind is equally as likely to result in a Loss parody as it is in porn. Some examples.
  • Abused to the point where one strip had the artist just say "You know what"
  • One popular mutation uses a minimalist description of the comic's four panels: a vertical line, two vertical lines, two vertical lines, and a vertical and a horizontal line.
  • Sandra and Woo's Loss parody was made in much better taste.

• Before this Darths & Droids strip went up, the phrase "Jar Jar, you're a genius" did not appear anywhere on the Internet. As of 12 days later, Google gave "about 3560" hits. There are now around 558,000.

  • NSFH ^ExplanationA forumite was caught looking at Self-Fanservice Fan Art of the heroine. It's used for anything from possible Informed Obscenity to outright Not Safe for Work stuff. Naked vixen. A Bowman's wolf! And she wears a bikini!
• Gamer Chicks: Laser cheese. ^ExplanationA strip in which the female protagonist (whose character design is a bit too much like Aoko Aozaki) walks into a "Game Spoot" after rain has soaked through her white shirt and her bust attracts stare lines emanating from a crowd of Faceless Masses. Said crowd is drawn as a misshapen yellow blob with white circles that to many suggests a block of Cartoon Cheese.
• Gunnerkrigg Court: Nobody likes Boxbot.
  • To the extent that the first Remix Comic thread on the forum is almost solely devoted to photoshopping Boxbot into other scenes, thereby "ruining" them.

  • Also, the Allosaurus, especially as an answer to the site's ever-changing poll questions. How far this meme has spread is impossible to track, though, since the Google results it generates are buried under a bunch of irrelevant paleontological hits.

• K009 Comics:
  • That girl is so cute, I wonder what she's listening to...^ExplanationOne chapter features an unnamed character crushing on a passenger and wondering what she's listening to on her headphones, assuming that it "must be something nice." Said music is Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't Shit". The comic has since become well-known for being easy to edit to include lyrics from other songs.
• Lackadaisy: "I don't like bees! I don't like glue!" ^ExplanationFrom this strip.
• Several of the character depictions in The Last Days of FOXHOUND seem to be trying for meme status, in that characters are exaggerated to one-note, bewildering absurdity. One example is that of Psycho Mantis, who, in his original appearance, showed something of a disdain for reproduction and possibly sex in general, whereas in the comic, he is shown to go as far as to run around screaming when he is told that a cup of coffee was made by a girl.
  • However, the comic toned-down gag characterizations once it started becoming more plotty.

  • An in-universe example: Buttsex!
• MegaTokyo "Sad girls in snow."
• King’s fanon tea obsession has become this for the MiasWorld fandom. ^Explanation In the MiasWorld comic, he was shown with tea in his hand, and later drinking tea in a side artwork with his wife by Mogry311. This became a meme quickly and now he is generally agreed upon by the fandom as having an obsession with his Trademark Favorite Drink.

• According to A Miracle of Science, Brazil has decided you're cute^ExplanationCaprice, part of Mars' Hivemind, tells protagonist Benjamin Prester that "Mars likes you". The Brazil comment is Benjamin's Deadpan Snarker reply..
• Misfile: "The power of boobs compels you!"
  • Ash doesn't appreciate being so well endowed by his/her Gender Bender, which leads Missi to say that she would abuse their power if she had them.
• MS Paint Adventures:
  • > Pose as a team 'cause shit just got real. ^ExplanationFrom Problem Sleuth, where the detective trio pose together.
  • > Add pumpkin meme to TV Tropes Page.
    What pumpkin? You are certain there has never been and will never will be a pumpkin meme in this room. ^ExplanationOriginally from Jailbreak, where a pumpkin in the jail cell just vanishes as if it was never there. Hussie used this hundreds of times in his comics since.
  • > Grow arms to type on keyboard so memes can be added.
    You already have arms, stupid! ^ExplanationAlso originally from Jailbreak, where the main character appears armless, but the comic notes that said character obviously has arms. This sometimes-armless style has carried over to Hussie's other works.
• My Impossible Soulmate:
  • FISH/FEESH/Verity with a fish locket◊ ^ExplanationVerity was very instantly loved for her adorable fish based design. To the point that many started sharing a gif of Verity in a locket with a picture of fish. As well as spamming the word "fish" everytime she appears.
  • Chiaki kicking a tree was also turned into a gif reaction◊.
  • Jokes about tea ^ExplanationDue to a running gag on the Rainverse Discord server where Jocelyn constantly sips tea, many started joking about constant tea shortages.
  • "They're gonna get married!" ^ExplanationA phrase started by Chiaki x Nagisa shippers who often theorize the two will wed by the following page.
  • Chiaki floating in the void ^ExplanationOn page 60, Chiaki has her potential alignment read by a Starseer, the process which briefly sees her flying in an expansive space. Has spawned numerous edits encouraged by Jocelyn.
• Narbonic: "What? But Dave never smoked!"
  • Due to having quit via Time Travel, Dave gets this reaction from the gang when he mentions his former habit. Now that the comic is in reprints, fans have responded thus to older strips that showed him smoking.
• The Non-Adventures of Wonderella: My home planet is dead!"
• Nothing Nice to Say had a brief story arc that involved the comic getting taken over by two straw men of the more backwards participants in the punk scene. The resulting Stylistic Suck strips had Fletcher and Blake calling every band they could think of "selloutz!" or "gay selloutz!" and asking "amirite?" after. It caught on, especially on the comments section of punknews.org where people still follow many jokes about bands with "amirite?" (It might actually have been picked up from 4chan.)

  • I prepared Explosive Runes this morning. ^explanation A Running Gag about letters written by Vaarsuvius that blow themselves and possibly the reader up.
  • Talky man talk too much. ^Explanation A paraphrase of one of Thog's lines, deriding how often Roy tries to talk his way out of problems in the middle of fighting, and how often this backfires. Even Roy himself says it in a later comic.
  • Thog edits^ExplanationOOTS is infamously quite wordy, which inspired some edits on 4chan that trimmed the dialogue down to the bare neccesities. Fans took to calling these "Thog edits" and created more, many of them vulgar or profane in nature.
• Paranatural has a few:

  • "Perfecshbluh..." ^Explanation Said by a spirit after powering up, only to be hit by a floating left hand ghost. Now used by fans to give praise in general.
  • "Concur'd" ^Explanation Fans often say this whenever voicing agreement. From this strip
  • "Hard to control." ^Explanation Isaac explaining his powers to Max, Played for Laughs. As seen here
• The Parking Lot Is Full: "IT'S GOOFY TIME!◊"
  • "No, Dad, no!"
    • In some circles, has crossed over with Super Smash Bros.. Fox, Wolf, or Lucario against Ness, Lucas, or Young/Toon Link. Appropriately colored costumes optional.
• Penny Arcade:
  • DEEPCROW! A creature dreamed up for a single comic has been drawn, statted as a monster for several tabletop RPGs, and now has been forcibly evolved using Spore.
    • The meme briefly collided with the Touhou Project fandom when the final boss of the eleventh game turned out to be a deepcrow. (Well, kind of one.)
  • WHY AM I SO BALD
  • AND WHY AM I SO PIG-LIKE IN APPEARANCE
    • Tycho and Gabe were not intended as Author Avatars, but so many fans assumed they were that Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik made them so, though they still don't resemble them. Most obviously, Holkins is bald and Tycho has a full head of hair; the meme comes from 4chan Remix Comics about the disparity. As for "pig-like", that's a joke about Krahulik's nose.

  • WORSE THAN HITLER!
  • Lesbian mares.
  • Wine coolers. ^ExplanationLisa commented that Sara thought (and she herself wondered) Penny and Aggie were "a few wine coolers away" from having sex; from then on, the fans would make jokes about "wine coolers" when they suspected the two of them would get up to something.
  • YEAH, BITCHES! ^ExplanationIn-Universe as much as out, when Rich interrupted a performance of No Exit on live national TV as Satan; on a poll on the forum as to what the last line of the comic would be, one of the options was "Rich:[Do I even need to say it?]"
  • Respond moistly. With your hoo-hoo. ^ExplanationLisa's comment on Penny kissing Aggie.
  • Hee. ^ExplanationSaid by Cyndi in a tense moment right before being Put on a Bus to Hell, became so deeply associated with her that near the end, T changed the word "hee" to "heh" in one of Daphne's lines so that fans wouldn't think they were secretly involved.
• Thanks to The Perry Bible Fellowship and 4chan, "weeaboo" is now Western slang for "wapanese".
  • Pro Skub / Anti-Skub!
    • From this comic. There's no way to know what skub really is or why people would fight about it, making it an image board meme for things that cause unnecessary rage.
  • A variation of this has become a catch-phrase on the video game blog Destructoid. Also, cocks.
• Polandball:
  • Poland cannot into space. ^ExplanationOne of the comic's running gags is how Poland is one of the few countryballs that does not have a space program. This is actually untrue in real life, but that doesn't matter here.
• Precocious: "Mood Ears." More specifically, after someone mentioned in a comment on that strip that Autumn's ears change with her expressions, one person replied that "she has mood ears." Since then, the phrase has been in the comments of nearly every strip involving a very expressive Autumn.
• Queen of Wands has a pretty enthusiastic following for the Vagina Dentata song. NSFW and pretty brainbreaky.
  • Also, Charles Darwin and his Chainsaw of Natural Selection.
• Questionable Content: Awkward Zone Defeated! ^ExplanationFrom this strip where Marten manages to break the Awkward Zone with Angus by finding a topic they can agree on: breasts.
  • AND THEN THEY ALL FUCKED! ^ExplanationSaid by Yelling Bird in this guest comic parodying erotic slash fic; the line is bound to come up in any discussion of lemon.
• Safely Endangered
  • "Sweet Jesus, Pooh! That's not honey!" ^ExplanationA comic about Winnie-the-Pooh being told by a horrified Tigger that he's eating his father's ashes (in spite of the fact that he's "the only one"). The comic is often edited so that Pooh's eating a different substance, usually as a Take That! toward a particular group.
  • "Mom, there is a monster under my bed, it's the most hideous thing I've ever seen!" "Why must you hate me, brother?" ^ExplanationA comic about a child lying in bed, saying the first line. Then the bed is revealed to be a bunk bed, with his brother lying in the lower one, saying the second line. People replace the lower brother with something else to ridicule.
• Schlock Mercenary brings us The Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries — particularly Maxim 37: There is no overkill, there is only "open fire" and "I need to reload".
  • Ominous hummmmmmmmm.
  • The fact that Kevyn spends most of his professional career with an antimatter bomb floating above his shoulder.
• "Fap fap fap." Although Sexy Losers didn't invent this widespread onomatopoeia for masturbation (that would be the VIZ Media translation of the Manga Heartbroken Angels), this webcomic did introduce it to the Internet and popularize it through frequent use.
  • As well as the female version, "Schlick schlick schlick."
  • Also: "Glurkle" ^note The sound of a vagina becoming wet with anticipation
• Shortpacked! has spawned several memes to do with Batman, including "I can breathe in space" as well as associating Frank Miller (writer of Sin City) with "whoreswhoreswhoreswhoreshoreswhores".
  • Funky CancerCancer.
  • PvP combined Bats' Parental Abandonment issues with his badassitude and occasional Wangst to give us the instant classic "MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!" strip.
    • "I'm Batman."
  • Recently, Gleeful Robin (a shot of Robin fangirling over Mike about to propose to Amber) has been photoshopped into the background of many other comics.
  • Red Hood and the Outlaws: "I'm bored. Show me your penis."
  • Fans have taken to referring to Ken in the comments by the names of Street Fighter characters... except the one whose name he shares.
• Sluggy Freelance: Zoë Lives!
• Something*Positive is often credited with popularizing "ROCKS FALL! EVERYONE DIES!"
  • Please remember to spay/neuter your Cat Girl.
• Sonichu has a ton of these.
  • "Go, Sonichu! Go out and zap to the extreme!" "I will! Thank you, father!"^ExplanationThe immortal exchange between Chris and Sonichu (respectively) on the first issue's cover.
  • "Keep running, Patti!"^ExplanationChris's beloved dog Patti died in 2006. The homage to her by placing her in the comics as the anthropomorphic "Patti-Chan" has often been reinterpreted as trapping her in the unintentionally-dystopian world of CWCville, unable to rest in peace. (Not helping is the time Chris attempted to sic her dead soul on someone in real life.)
  • Pickles.^ExplanationThe author detests pickles, at least in part because their shapes resemble penises. This carries over to Sonichu in the comics (though it was eventually explained that they triggered a paralyzing allergic reaction), and was swiftly exploited for all it was worth by trolls.
    • Rosechu has a pickle.^ExplanationWhen 4chan first discovered the comic, one man named Evan sent Chris some fanart he drew (one of the pieces featuring Rosechu with a penis, just because). Chris's hysterical reaction both popularized the "pickle" meme. Confusingly, this was later somewhat canonized when it was revealed that Rosechu was a male Raichu before transforming into an Electric Hedgehog Pokémon.
    • "MASTURBATIN' AND SQUIRTIN'^ExplanationFrom the same source as the above — Chris's reply to Evan also included a request for art of Rosechu "masturbatin' and squirtin'", apropos of nothing.
  • The Oversized Drinking Straw of Fail.^ExplanationOne Sub-Episode features a drawing of Chris drinking from an inexplicably large straw. Its homoerotic undertones were almost immediately seized upon, and the author eventually retconned it to make it less wide.
  • "Yes! My Love Quest is finally over!"^ExplanationSub-Episode 2 features Chris, shortly after being asked out by a girl, saying this in front of a rainbow background. Again, the homoerotic undertones eventually caused another retcon placing Chris in front of the Pearly Gates.
  • Rosechu's face-rape.^ExplanationIn Issue 8, Sonichu and Rosechu travel to a thinly-veiled Expy of Encyclopedia Dramatica and request that Chris's page be removed from the site. After the creator of said page refuses, he then tosses a pickle at Rosechu's head. Rosechu responds by transforming into a more beastly form (dubbed "The Incredible Lioness"), shoving his face in her vagina, and clawing his brains out. The sheer brutality of this attack (combined with the fact that it's explicitly said to be fatal, and the victim is only kept alive by "dark forces") quickly made said issue the most notorious of them all.
• Stand Still, Stay Silent:
  • The MOST BEST [X]! ^ExplanationUsed by Sigrun when she claims that she's the MOST BEST captain available, now used by fans to refer to things that are awesome.
  • The upper half of page 196 has been reposted on many sites talking about language due to being based on real data, albeit incomplete by Real Life standards.
  • Derplalli◊ and Derpsigrun◊ ^ExplanationModifying images of the crew - especially Lalli, with Sigrun in second place - to feature funny eyes and tongues looling out like in :p emoticon. May've been inspired by multiple pictures of Sigrun with her tongue out◊.

• The term Rule 34 came from a little known (and now defunct) webcomic Zoom-Out which is featured on the trope page. It was actually the first of the internet rules, the rest were made several weeks after Rule 34 caught on.
