Cute Aggression

Go To

You have a character that suddenly spots something cute: maybe it's a cute little kitten, or an infant. Some instinct rushes in you to just run over and playfully squeeze it or bite it. Although it seems like a contradictory way to express your fondness for something, this is a natural phenomenon known as Cute Aggression.

In fiction, there are multiple instances where characters react in a way to someone/something they consider "cute". A common outcome is that whoever is on the receiving end of the trope ends up not liking it. However, there are instances where those on the receiving end do like it and respond by showing cute aggression to the person on the giving end. Common instances of cute aggression include doing the squeezing, pinching, or biting a person/animal in a playful, non-harming manner, or stating to want to do something aggressive. ("I want to squeeze you" or "I want to eat you up!").

Related to Cuteness Overload as it is a response to seeing something cute. See also Cuteness Overload for people losing their composure to cuteness in general. May overlap with I'm Taking Her Home with Me!. Sometimes overlaps with The Glomp in scenarios where the cute aggression is displayed in the form of a hug. See also Loving Bully for more harmful forms of cute aggression. See And Call Him "George" for instances where the cute aggression is taken too far.
