An animation trend involving artists making cardboard puppet show-like edits while Yoeko Kurahashi's "Sinking Town"
plays in the background. The song itself does fit so well on the tone of many of the edits, not only due to being a very nostalgic song, but due to its subtly dark lyrics and tone, as well as the meaning behind it. Recently, around the beginning of July 2025, his trend is now very widespread that it reaches out not only the anime fans, but also video games, popular cartoons, and as well as live-action movies and series too. Many animators join in the bandwagon by making a "cardboard puppet show" - in which the specific character(s) are the puppets and tells the storyline as the song progresses.
