Green-Eyed Monsters from Animated Films.

  • In Disney's Aladdin, Jafar has been secretly jealous of the Sultan's position as the ruler of Agrabah, hence his ultimate Evil Plan to take the throne all by himself.
  • General Mandible from Antz would get seriously ticked off if someone else gets to take Princess Bala away from him, like what Z has indirectly done.
  • Barbie:
  • Brave: During the medieval sports scene, Princess Merida is bummed that she couldn't participate it out of her mother Queen Elinor's insistence, having to watch other players as she just sits there while wearing her tight dress.
  • In Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation, the girl protagonist makes a Deal with the Devil to become Camp Champ.
  • Chick Hicks, the main villain of Pixar's Cars, is a bright green racecar. His envy of The King's success wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't so personal. What he does on the final lap demonstrates just how much it's twisted him.
  • Chicken Little (2005): When the Acorns finally win the baseball game thanks to the titular character, Foxy Loxy just stands in shock for what he had contributed to the team instead of congratulating him.
  • From Disney's Cinderella movies:
    • The reason why Lady Tremaine abuses Cinderella is that she's "bitterly jealous of Cinderella's charm and beauty." Also, like the Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Lady Tremaine has green eyes.
    • Cinderella III: A Twist in Time takes this further with Anastasia, who is very jealous of Cinderella, living a wonderful life with her true love while she has a miserable one and no love. This starts the plot when she steals the Fairy Godmother's wand.
Anastasia: (to Cinderella) I want what you have.
  • In Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, after Flint Lockwood's FLDSMDFR proves to be successful within Swallow Falls, Brent McHale, as the official mascot of Baby Brent Stardines, grew envious of Flint's newfound popularity.
  • Coco: One of the reasons why Ernesto de la Cruz straight-up murdered his old music partner Héctor Rivera is because Héctor himself possesses the songs he wrote, in which Ernesto desperately needed them for him to continue in achieving fame.
  • Maxime Le Mal from Despicable Me 4 held a strong grudge against Felonious Gru because according to their backstory, he was going to perform Culture Club's "Karma Chameleon" at Lycee Pas Bon School of Villainy, only for Gru to outbeat him in doing so, resulting in their rivalry.
  • The Emperor's New Groove: Yzma has always been envious of Emperor Kuzco's royal position, so she attempts to seize his throne by trying to get rid of him through any means necessary, even murder.
  • Heavily implied with Isabela Madrigal in Encanto that she's harsh to her youngest sister, Mirabel, the only one born into the family who didn't get a magical gift, which spares her the burden of being pushed to be perfect all the time, and she's free to do whatever she wants, because that freedom is something Isa desires.
  • Prince Hans Westergaard of the Southern Isles is both a metaphorical and literal case in Disney's Frozen with emerald-green eyes. Being 13th in line, he is the Spare to the Throne back home. Because of this, he selfishly craves power elsewhere.
  • In The Good Dinosaur, Arlo is envious of the fact that the rest of his family have each of their foot marks on their corn silo, as each of them have achieved something that's agriculturally remarkable to them. Interestingly, Arlo himself is a green dinosaur.
  • Hercules (1997): Hades is resentful and envious of how the Greek pantheon considers his older brother Zeus a Universally Beloved Leader while he is virtually hated and despised on Olympus. All of the gods are not happy at his appearance at Hercules' birth ceremony, and his lame pun is met with scowls. But when Zeus makes a similar lame joke about Hades's workaholic nature, the pantheon bursts into laughter. The resentment causes him to find a way to overthrow his brother and become the king of Olympus.
  • Drago Bludvist from How to Train Your Dragon 2 would be deeply infuriated when there are other dragon trainers who are more efficient than himself, because according to him "[he] alone [controls] the dragons".
  • Judge Claude Frollo from Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, just like in the original book, invokes this when he discovers Quasimodo has been protecting Esmeralda and has a relationship with her. Frollo's lust for her is so great, he's jealous of his adopted son. Ironically, despite his rage at Quasimodo for "falling under the gypsy's spell" (like him), Frollo doesn't show any moment of jealousy towards Captain Phobeus, her actual Love Interest, unlike the book, where he almost killed Phoebus upon seeing him about to have sex with Esmeralda. Perhaps it’s because, unlike in the book, Frollo might actually be unaware that Esmeralda and Phoebus are in love.
  • In The Incredibles, after Syndrome sees that the Incredibles defeated the Omnidroid v.10 alongside Frozone, he grew increasingly jealous of them, since it was supposed to be him who's doing that as part of his Engineered Heroics plan, where he wanted to become recognized as a "superhero" and sell off his inventions publicly if ever he "defeated" the Omnidroid, which ended up being in vain.
  • Inside Out 2 blatantly introduces Envy, who's not only a literal one, but is also the personification of her host Riley Andersen's deep-rooted wants and needs. Ironically, unlike most examples, she's a remarkably downplayed case, as she expresses her own personification by simply desiring what others have instead of being resentful towards them.
  • Kung Fu Panda:
    • In the first film, Tigress was originally jealous of Po Ping for being the chosen Dragon Warrior instead of herself, knowing how much she had put a lot of effort into achieving that destiny.
    • Kai the Collector from Kung Fu Panda 3 not only has literal green eyes, but it has been said that he was deeply envious of Master Oogway's admiration as an impressive warrior.
  • Leo: Squirtle exposes Leo's scam to the kids primarily because he's jealous that Leo is much better at connecting with them and gets all their love and attention, while they never think much of the turtle. He redeems himself when he gets the class to rescue Leo from the Everglades.
  • The Lion King:
  • Luca: When the titular Luca Paguro and Giulia Marcovaldo started to personally hang out with each other more often, Alberto Scorfano, Luca's best friend, started to feel jealous about their intimacy, which is actually rooted by the fact that he was tragically abandoned by his father, making Alberto something of an orphan. Bonus points for Alberto himself being a half-literal example, as well, given that he transforms into a sea monster while possessing green eyes.
  • Madagascar:
    • Makunga from Escape 2 Africa is envious of Zuba for having the Alpha Lion position, so he opts to take it into his own hands by manipulating Alex/Alakay. Plus, he literally has green eyes.
    • In the spinoff Penguins of Madagascar, Dave grew resentful towards penguins because they were proven to be more popular than him as an octopus. So in retaliation, he'll be turning penguins into literal monsters.
  • Meet the Robinsons: Bowler Hat Guy has been envious of Cornelius Robinson's success because as it turns out, they were old roommates, specifically Mike Yagoobian and Lewis, respectively, and this all started when Lewis himself accidentally caused Goob's baseball screw-up just by making him tardy with the numerous inventions.
  • Megamind: Even before Hal Stewart's Start of Darkness as Tighten, he's already showing his signs of his possessiveness towards Roxanne Ritchi, as shown when he begrudgingly believes that she's into Metro Man (when really, she's not) and then when he unknowingly taunted Megamind, who's under the disguise of "Bernard", for being her "partner".
  • Randall Boggs in Monsters, Inc., who's a completely literal green-eyed monster, had grown incredibly tired of being second-best to the Mike Wazowski-James P. Sullivan team in scaring children. We find out in Monsters University that he was Sulley's superior in scaring for some time, but was humiliated by Sulley at his biggest chance to prove himself, and in front of practically the entire student population, that he developed a permanent grudge to Sulley.
  • Leeyoon from Mune: Guardian of the Moon is the apprentice of the Guardian of the Moon, who was promised his position and assured that the ceremony where his successor will be chosen would merely be a formality. When the Creature Purest of Heart, the one responsible for choosing the next Guardian of the Moon, chooses the titular Mune over him, Leeyoon's envy attracts the snake spirits, who proceed to corrupt him with their power. As it turns out, the Creature Purest of Heart was right to choose Mune over Leeyoon after the moon dies on his watch. He gets over it by the end of the film.
  • The Princess and the Frog: Lawrence has been resentful towards his master Prince Naveen for having a higher living as a prince, so he opts to join forces with Dr. Facilier for him to live in a much more luxurious lifestyle.
  • Ratatouille:
    • Remy the rat was jealous that veteran Gusteau's chef Colette Tatou could get public recognition for her culinary prowess and he couldn't.
    • After Chef Skinner got kicked out from Gusteau's after Alfredo Linguini was revealed to be its true successor after his late father Auguste Gusteau, Skinner then decides to take down the restaurant out of spite against Linguini and Remy.
  • Shrek:
    • Prince Charming was not only initially jealous of the franchise's title character taking Princess Fiona away from him, but he was also resentful by the fact that he doesn't have the proper rights to obtain the throne of Far Far Away, with the latter case being the source of Shrek the Third's main conflict.
    • Rumpelstiltskin's Evil Plan in Shrek Forever After is rooted by the fact that his earlier plans to obtain the position as the ruler of Far Far Away have been foiled by Shrek's act of rescuing Fiona.
    • The whole reason "Big" Jack Horner from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish hated fairy tale creatures is because he was jealous of Pinocchio literally upstaging him in his youth.
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: The Evil Queen's motivation is jealousy of Snow White's beauty. She also has green eyes, as does her henchman the Huntsman.
  • Bowser's growing hatred of Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie stems from Peach liking the plumber more than the King of Koopas. He views Mario as a rival suitor intentionally trying to steal "his girl" and make him unhappy, deciding to make it personal when he ends up in Brooklyn at the story's climax. The irony is that Mario is only with Peach to rescue Luigi, whom Bowser has held captive in his castle, and has no interest in pursuing a romantic relationship with the princess (at least, not yet).
  • The whole reason Mother Gothel from Tangled kidnapped Princess Rapunzel in the first place is because the princess herself is harnessing the Sundrop's healing powers since birth, which is crucial to Gothel for her immortality and beauty. Ironic, since Rapunzel has green eyes.
  • In the first Tinker Bell film, Vidia was deeply resentful that the titular character would potentially surpass her fast-flying talents with the usage of tinker talents. For added bonus points, her name comes from the Latin word invidia, which means "envy".
  • Toy Story:
    • This is Woody's Fatal Flaw in the first film; a Jerk with a Heart of Gold otherwise, but competition for his position from Buzz Lightyear as Andy's favorite toy leads him to trouble, and his bitter nature leads him into more trouble.
      • Ironically, these roles were suddenly reversed in Toy Story 3, when Spanish-mode Buzz, after seeing Jessie hug Woody, becomes extremely jealous of him. Bonus points for Buzz himself having green elements on his design as a toy.
        Spanish Buzz: ¡El Vaquero!
    • The whole reason Stinky Pete from Toy Story 2 became bitter is because he had to spend "a lifetime on a dime-store shelf, watching every other toy be sold!".
    • This is one of the reasons as to why Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear from Toy Story 3 became very spiteful, as his original owner Daisy replaced him with an identical Lotso.
    • Incredibly downplayed with Gabby Gabby from Toy Story 4. She wants Woody's voice box because hers has been malfunctioned, and so that she could be experience toy ownership like he did with Harmony, so she does her best to obtain his. However, unlike Stinky Pete and Lotso, Gabby doesn't completely resent such kind of advantage. When Harmony rejected her instead of expectedly owning her even after she possessed Woody's voice box, she didn't even hesitate returning it to him, acknowledging that she'll remain ownerless because of her failure (though, Woody insisted otherwise).
  • Trolls:
    • In the first film:
      • The depressed Bergens have found out that the Trolls are capable of being happy, so they made a tradition where they would eat Trolls for themselves to become happy.
      • Chef has manipulated King Gristle Jr. into doing what she insists, including eating a Troll, so that she could have his royal position as the new ruler of Bergen Town.
    • In Band Together:
      • Both Velvet and Veneer from are incapable singers themselves, so for them to sound good, they decided to extract the Trolls' natural talents. Additionally, they both have green hair.
      • Downplayed with Viva. When Poppy is explaining how the Pop Trolls befriended the Bergens, Viva looks visibly hurt after Poppy explicitly says that she loves Bridget like a sister, and they do all kinds of fun things together that Viva missed out on due to her and Poppy being separated as children. While Viva is still mainly acting on her Fantastic Racism against the Bergens when she refuses to let her sister leave the theme park, her doubling down on it is implied to be partly due to jealousy of Poppy and Bridget's bond, and wanting Poppy all to herself.
  • Turning Red: Though not outright stated in the movie itself, the pre-release summary confirms that Ming Lee dislikes Miriam Mendelsohn because she sees the latter as a threat to her relationship with her daughter Mei. She has since grown out of this in the end, though.
  • The reason why "going turbo" is a bad thing in Wreck-It Ralph besides the fact that a character can die permanently in a game that is not theirs. Turbo was the protagonist of an 8-bit racing game who grew upset and jealous that a new racing game was becoming more popular than his game. He decided to enter that game which caused glitches to appear and got both games to be decommissioned. He still hasn't learned his lesson as King Candy.
  • In Zootopia, Dawn Bellwether, as the mastermind behind the Night Howler incidents, has always wanted to overthrow Mayor Leodore Lionheart's mayoral position in the titular city. For added extra flavor, she literally has green eyes.
