Kersti

A Sticker fairy who is the caretaker of the Royal Stickers.

• Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Kersti is one of a few Sticker Star characters who doesn't reappear in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. Justified in that her home, the Sticker Comet, passes by the Mushroom Kingdom only once every year. She's not mentioned at all in Paper Mario: Color Splash, either.
• Cool Crown: She's very important to Sticker Star, being with Mario all throughout his journey and being essential to saving the Sticker Comet. Her being a sticker fairy who herself is a crown, that makes her a cool crown in of herself.
• Crown of Power: Kersti herself is a crown that brings power. She initially is more of a guide than a fighter. But at the end she sacrifices herself to become a sticker with a powerful move required to stop Bowser.^note  At the least that is how it was supposed to work, but if you use powerful stickers in a certain way, it is possible to beat Bowser without Kersti doing that. She still appears as a sticker in the inventory. That means she's possible to throw away. Whether you do that or not is entirely up to the player's decision. Don't worry, Mario and the Sticker Comet have her life covered.
• Damsel in Distress: Comes naturally from being so lady-like in the Mario series. The game requires you to rightfully save Kersti in the following situations.
  • When she gets consumed by and trapped inside Petey Piranha. She can't be accessed until you beat Petey Piranha, after which she will return to your party, in a relatively alright state, actually.
  • In Rustle Burrow, Kertsi falls down when the floor breaks. A group of Scuttlebugs keep Kersti trapped in their web. She is actually extremely distressed while stuck inside the web and is sympathetically mentioned to cry to herself while stuck. She needs to be saved from this situation by Mario. Once done, however, she gets very frustrated when saved and complains about how long it took Mario to rescue her. Despite complaining to Mario, at the end of their conversation, Kersti thanks him for saving her.
• Disney Death: Mario's wish is to revive Kersti after using her as a sticker.
• Equippable Ally: In the final battle against Bowser, Kersti sacrifices herself to be a sticker in the sticker book.
• Exposition Fairy: She is a sticker fairy with a crown design who is there throughout the journey to give advice.
• Face Death with Dignity: Before she sacrifices herself at the end she gives a very heartfelt speech to Mario about their journey together.
• Forced from Their Home: When Bowser takes the Sticker Comet, she cannot return to her home, the Sticker Star, until she gets the Sticker Comet back from Bowser.
• Heroic Sacrifice: Turns herself into a sticker in the final battle, so as to lend Mario enough power to defeat Bowser. Her death doesn't stick, as Mario wishes her back to life afterwards.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's a serious loudmouth who seems to enjoy picking fights, but underneath it all she's got a good heart.
• Living Hat: While she's not as inherently clothing-like as some sapient outfits, she is a crown who is alive. Though, as a sticker, she's too flat to be worn like a typical crown.
• Meaningful Name: In addition to being an anagram of "sti[c]ker", it also sounds a bit like "curtsy", a fitting name for the caretaker to a group of Royal Stickers.
• Misplaced Retribution: She gives Mario a vicious chewing-out when she mistakes him for the one who shattered the Sticker Comet. Even when he explains himself and that it was Bowser who did the deed, she still coerces him to help fix it by arguing that's what the world-famous Mario would definitely do.
• NO INDOOR VOICE: Has a habit of shouting whenever she gets frustrated, especially notable when she thinks that poor Mario shattered the Sticker Comet, when it was actually Bowser’s doing. Whilst not typically associated with being "lady-like", as she proclaims, she is very much a feminine sticker.
• Spirited Young Lady: She's often self-described as a Proper Lady, but owing to her bossy nature and hot temper, "spirited" is perhaps the kindest way of putting it.
• Swallowed Whole: Kersti gets swallowed by Petey Piranha in the last level of World 5. This means that you can't use Paperization and the Battle Spin feature until you get Kersti back.
• Takes One to Kill One: She lets Mario use her as a sticker in the final battle, realizing that the might of Bowser's Royal Sticker can only be matched by equal power hailing from the Sticker Star.
• Undying Loyalty: She is extremely dedicated to protecting the Sticker Comet. She'll go after Mario by shouting at him for breaking the Sticker Comet until she realizes that it was Bowser's doing, and she's willing to follow Mario all throughout his adventure in order to make it to the Sticker Star. In the end, she even sacrifices herself to save it.

Wiggler/Flutter

• A Dog Named "Dog": As evident above, this Wiggler doesn't actually have a name-name. This continues even into his Flutter transformation.
• Beware the Silly Ones: Wiggler is very nice and absentminded most of the time. However, he gets very upset over the poison polluting his forest and island. Before getting to the final area in World 3, he storms out of his tree house and beats Mario to the beach.
• Journal Comic: If you take the Wiggler segments to particular areas in the forest, then Wiggler's diary (in third-person) would include drawings of those events.
• The Load: The Wiggler Segments are pretty annoying to deal with when they're separated from Wiggler himself.
• Mini-Boss: You fight each of Wiggler's segments after Kamek separated Wiggler from his main body.
• OOC Is Serious Business: It is rare that you get to see Wiggler being angry, which makes the moment when he becomes enraged at Kamek stand out all the more.
• Third-Person Person: Usually refers to himself as Wiggler, and later Flutter, instead of using first person vocabulary.
• Treehouse of Fun: He lives in a treehouse.

The "Thing" Stickers

• Art Imitates Art: Several "Great Wave[s] off Kanagawa" by Katsushika Hokusai can be seen during the Cat-o-Luck animation in Color Splash.
• Bilingual Bonus: In Color Splash, the Battery actually sings in German: "Listen up you fools. Listen to the battery!"
• Bland-Name Product: The Battery is appropriately called "Thunder".
• Blow You Away: The Fan, on a planet-size scale in Color Splash.
• The Cameo:
  • Birdo appears during the Balloons animation in Color Splash.
  • The Fan makes a brief appearance in The Origami King, where it blows away all the fog surrounding the Great Sea so the group can explore it further.
• Camera Abuse: The Fan in Color Splash blows the opponents away who ends up pinned against the screen.
• Disney Acid Sequence: invoked The Cat-o-Luck in Color Splash. It is mostly a Played for Laughs Cliché Storm since it is a Japanese game, as its animation includes everything it can like Cherry Blossoms, sushi, and samurais to make it look like it is coming straight from a Quirky Work.
• Drop the Washtub: The Basin.
• Maneki Neko: The Cat-o-Luck.
• Musical Assassin: The Battery summons lightning bolts by singing Opera.
• Same Character, But Different: Some Things return in Color Splash but have a completely different effect:
  • The Magnifying Glass goes from being Solar-Powered to making Mario giant.
  • The Balloon becomes "Balloons" in Color Splash, and goes from exploding to lifting enemies out of battle.
  • There's also an example with the Scissors Thing when it returns in The Origami King, where it's portrayed as a major antagonist. Also, unlike Sticker Star where the Scissors cut up Bowser Junior and he's overall fine, this time when it cuts up Junior, it leaves him nearly dead and in need of immediate healing.
• Shock and Awe: The Battery Thing.
• Shout-Out: The Fan in Color Splash is very reminiscent of the famous last shot from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
• Soundtrack Lullaby: The Pillow, Bed and Luxury Bed items will change the music to a lullaby as they put enemies (as well as Mario, but you can avoid this by Button Mashing) to sleep.
• Sudden Name Change: Since there is only one type of battery Thing in Color Splash, the D-Cell Battery is simplified as just "Battery".

Megasparkle Goomba

Well, more like 16 Goombas, with one of them being the boss and having his mind warped by the Royal Sticker.

• Character Tics: He keeps mentioning the words "shiny" and "glittering." Really though, that's pretty much how every boss acts like under the control of a Royal Sticker.
• Cool Crown: The Royal Sticker on his head.
• King Mook: Of the Goombas. Which makes one wonder where the actual Goomba King went.
• Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: Megasparkle Goomba's cohorts decide that they'd rather be regular Goombas rather than keep working for him.
• Sequential Boss: Heavily downplayed. After his giant Goomba form runs out of HP, the other 15 Goombas making it up break formation and run away. The Megasparkle Goomba attempts to perform a Last Villain Stand, but given how he's a single heavily-injured Goomba, his second form is a Zero-Effort Boss.
• Warm-Up Boss: Hits harder than prior enemies and encourages the use of Thing Stickers, but he still isn't particularly hard. Even if you don't have the needed Things to exploit his weaknesses, Mario can defeat him with brute force, which is much harder to pull off with later bosses.

Tower Power Pokey

A Pokey on top of Drybake Stadium that has been under the control of the Royal Sticker. He was once just a regular Pokey before Kamek placed the Royal Sticker on top of him and split the stadium into three parts.

• Batter Up!: His major weakness once all of his segments have been exposed.
• Character Tics: He keeps mentioning the word "shiny". As with Megasparkle Goomba, this isn't a unique trait.
• Flunky Boss: He may summon two Pokeys (the ones that you can actually jump on) to help him. Of course, you will have to defeat them first before getting Tower Power Pokey.
• Foreshadowing: His weakness is basically why Drybake Stadium is called that in the first place. There's also the hint of "PLAY BALL!" at the beginning of the battle. However, you don't find this out until the roof of said level, rather than the floors preceding it.
• King Mook: Of the Pokeys.
• Uniqueness Decay: A second Tower Power Pokey appears in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. This one looks like a normal Pokey with four small spikes on every segment. Also, he's much smaller than the original.
• Wake-Up Call Boss: He has 300 HP (compared to the first boss, which has less than 100 HP), quarters any damage done to it by default, and can deal 5 to 10 damage per turn. Also, if you didn't realize that a certain Thing needs to be used to defeat him, you'll be in serious trouble.

Mizzter Blizzard

A Mr. Blizzard who wished for a body that would never melt. When the Royal Sticker landed on him, he got his wish... at the expense of his sanity.

• A Dog Named "Dog": Zig-Zagged Trope. While it is the name of his species, it's never been spelled like this before.
• Alas, Poor Villain: All he wanted was a body that wouldn't melt. He even apologizes after you beat him.
• Anti-Villain: Of the Woobie variety. He only wished he cannot melt.
• Back from the Dead: After being seemingly killed after his battle, he returns during the stick-puppet esque credits.
• Be Careful What You Wish For: His backstory is that he was a regular Mr. Blizzard who was melting and wanted to live. He wished for a body that could survive spring... and the Royal Sticker landed on his head.
• Butt-Monkey: He was melting. He prayed for a longer life, and was given it at the cost of his sanity. He was then given a thorough beating by Mario due to the insanity. Then he melted right after regaining his sanity.
• Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Mizzter Blizzard is one of the few Sticker Star characters who doesn't reappear in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
• Clipped-Wing Angel: After his statue is completely destroyed, revealing him, his only attack is a weak, easy to block snowball throw.
• Dying as Yourself: Technically, he doesn't die, he melts and lives on as water vapor, until Winter comes.
• An Ice Person: He's a snowman, who has a series of shells that are made of even more snow, and he is the boss of the ice world. It's practically assumed.
• Good All Along: Can we honestly say he was evil?
• Like Cannot Cut Like: He's immune to ice attacks—in fact, he's healed by them.
• Logical Weakness: He takes increased damage from fire and heat based attacks, be they from regular stickers or Thing stickers.
• Matryoshka Object: The Bowser Snow Statue shatters as it accumulates damage, revealing further, smaller statues within.
• Posthumous Narration: The section of the storybook that appears after beating Mizzter Blizzard is told in the first person, and it's obviously Mizzter Blizzard speaking. It's unknown if he narrated the rest of the book, though.
• Snowlem: An absolutely massive one. He is actually multiple Snowlems, which are encased inside of each other.
• Token Good Teammate: Out of all the characters to wear the Royal Stickers, Mizzter Blizzard was the only one not to have malicious intentions. He just wanted to not melt.
• Tragic Ice Character: Mizzter Blizzard used to be a living snowman who was terrified of melting, so he wished on the magical Sticker Star to grant him a body that wouldn't melt. The Sticker Star granted his wish... but also took away his sanity, turning him into a violent Snowlem.
• Walking Spoiler: For the sole reason that he actually has a personality and isn't evil.
• We Will Meet Again: Inverted. After regaining his sanity and retaining his consciousness as air moisture, he says he'd like to see Mario again, when he's rebuilt as a snowman come Winter.
• With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Like all the other bosses. Then you beat him and, for the first time, there's a case of a boss showing the extent of the Royal Stickers' power over one's mind. It's rather sad.

Sling-a-Thing Toad

• Black Market: Knows the existence of one.
• Character Tics: Mentions the word "perky" a lot.
• Everybody Knew Already: If you already found the secret Thing market Toad already, then he'll still tell you as if you don't know what to do if you don't have any Things.
• No Name Given: As with most other Sticker Star-introduced characters, this Toad doesn't actually have a name-name.

Travelling Toad

• Alliterative Name: Travelling Toad.
• "Begone" Bribe: One way to get rid of the goons. Of course, you can choose to fight them.
• Butt-Monkey: Constantly beaten up and harassed by the locals of every chapter.
• Boss in Mook's Clothing:
  • The Shy Guys bullying the Toad. They are a lot tougher than they appear to be. And the reward for helping him that time is a Secret Door sticker.
  • While that fight is the toughest, most of the fights involving him are special. One introduces the 2-Fold Goombas, one is the only fight with a 4-Fold Paragoomba, and a fight with Spear Guys that SEEMS normal, but there's really a huge crowd of them watching. The Poison Bloopers seem to be the exception.
• Her Code Name Was "Mary Sue": He sends postcards to the Toad watching his house, which detail how he was able to defeat multiple foes that menaced him on his adventures. In actuality, Mario is the one who defeats everyone that harassed him.
• No Name Given: As with most other Sticker Star-introduced characters, the travelling Toad doesn't actually have a name-name.
• Unreliable Expositor: The postcards he sent to a friend of his are correct except for the parts where he claimed that he beat up a bunch of goons. The truth is that the goons were picking on him and that it was Mario who saved him so the stories end up being a bit exaggerated. He later admits that he was lying to a friend of his.

Sticker Museum Curator

• Collection Sidequest: The instigator of one. He asks Mario to bring him one copy of every sticker he can find; that includes Thing Stickers.
• No Name Given: As with most other Sticker Star-introduced characters, the Curator doesn't actually have a name-name.
• Overly Narrow Superlative: He advertises his Sticker Museum as the greatest Sticker Museum of the Mushroom Kingdom as it is the only one.
• Video Game Cruelty Potential: You can leave him stuck under the fountain for the entire game, as you may not get the hint to use paperization to free him.

Shady Toad

• Black Market: Pretty much a spoof of this.
• No Name Given: As with most other Sticker Star-introduced characters, this Toad doesn't actually have a name-name.

Oasis Toad

• Captain Obvious: Tells Mario that you need water to travel in the desert.
• No Name Given: As with most other Sticker Star-introduced characters, this Toad doesn't actually have a name-name.
• Totally Radical: Speaks like one once the oasis has been filled.

Enigmansion Boos

• Background Music Override: A group of five Boos fought under a disco ball do this to the battle theme.
• Boss in Mook's Clothing: The Boo Stack should not be underestimated if you want the battle to end quickly. Luckily, the obvious hints in the bookshelves should tell you to use a certain sticker.
• Eldritch Abomination: The monsters that the Book of Sealing seal...is not this. The way the steward describes the Boos made them sound pretty horrible, even though that they're more fun rather than spooky.
• Gratuitous Disco Sequence: At one point, Mario interacts with a picture frame with a Boo in it. It's then revealed to be 5 Boos... and then disco music starts playing.
• One-Hit-Point Wonder: One of the Boos is crumpled in the trash, and has only 1 HP. Any attack will do him in.

Enigmansion Steward

• Ghostly Chill: A Boo is pretty much the main reason why he's feeling cold in front of a campfire.
• Irony: One of the papers you can find in World 5-1 in the huge trash pile is an ad for a new manservant. After the Enigmansion has been cleared of Boos, the steward thinks of hiring a new servant. He becomes one again to his old master.
• Nice Guy: He's pretty hospitable and says that not sitting down with him to relax is against his hospitality.
• No Name Given: As with most other Sticker Star-introduced characters, the steward doesn't actually have a name-name. As a matter of fact, he introduces himself as just a humble servant.
• Portrait Painting Peephole: A portrait of him has one sort of peephole where if Mario looks away from it, a Boo will pop out to replace his face.

Enigmansion Forebear

• Back from the Dead: Thanks to Mario and Kersti using Paperization, he returns to life.
• Military Salute: Does one to Mario after he and Kersti hop on one of the ski lifts.
• Nostalgia Filter: Subverted. A music player that plays a tune that sounds very old-fashioned is liked by his servant, but the owner, who is older than him, doesn't like it that much and wonders why the current generation likes it.
• No Name Given: As with most other Sticker Star-introduced characters, the Forebearer doesn't actually have a name-name.
