v0.4.5 - The Steam Update
As discussed in the Astrape devlog, this update has been focused on UI/UX improvements, building Steam integration and back-end engine upgrades, though a few minor bits of content did make it in as well. There's a full list of changes on the Discord Server, but for those who just want the highlights:
- PDA Notes (aka the permanent log)
- UI improvements, including:
- Main Menu
- Save slots
- Dedicated stats and options menus
- Lots of back-end improvements and features to make future content easier to implement
- Minor new content
- Rebalancing
This also means that the demo is released on Steam (the store says it may take 10-20 minutes to update), 1 week ahead of Next Fest so that any issues can (hopefully) be found and ironed out before too many people see it. The demo has content equivalent to v0.2, meaning that it ends when you cross the dam/approach Santorini for the first time. It'll enter early access on Steam with the next update in January. If you want to keep up to date on the latest news, make sure to read the dev logs on Discord, as they're more suitable for smaller, more regular updates.

Will the full game continue to be available here? This game is great for passing time at work, but I can't install Steam on a work computer.
Yes, at least for now, but the free version will lag behind the paid version. So if you buy it on Itch, it'll be v0.5 from the same time as it's released on Steam. The free web version won't update untill later.
Oh, alright! I assume you'll be setting a paid rate to match Steam's for that. Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks!
When I try to run 4.5.20 on Sequoia or Tahoe, it says the file is damaged.
Is it possible to put up the old versions until 4.5.20 is fixed?
Apologies, I thought I had replied to this when it was posted. At the time, I had no Mac available to test on, and had no clue why it would've stopped working as I hadn't changed anything. So I didn't even know what version did work.
Turns out - it's nothing I did. Apple just altered their old "this file doesn't have a certificate and may be dangerous, do you want to run it anyway" message to "this file is damaged, do you want us to delete it?" The only way anyone has found to resolve this is to:
When the next version is out, the Mac download will include instructions on how to disable the certificate check for those who want to.
Thanks for the reply, I think that's very reasonable. Happy New Year!
Will there be any difference between the steam version and the itch one? Like will steam have achievements or something?
Yes, the steam version will have achievements and cloud saves.
Can we please get full change logs without requiring a discord account?
The difficulty is that every site uses different formatting, and it takes a long time to manually convert large patch notes from one site to another.
For now though, I've also been posting the full notes on the Steam forums, since I can't seem to send out Steam announcements for the demo. Once the early access version releases in January, I'll swap to use announcements.
Steam Patch Notes
At first glance I thought the steam capsule looked like a toilet seat lol
Will the Next Fest demo tell the player that if they want to continue, to download the Itch version? I can understand not wanting the demo to go on too long, for a first impression, but it might be nice for those that enjoy the Next Fest demo, to know there is more content available.
Oh good, the demo kept my save data without me having to do anything.
Minor, yet still required.
I await release of the full version soo I can buy it.
Cheers!
