Oh, look who's on the cover of Zzap! Italia issue 19/104, which has been printed today, ready to be sent to the subscribers!
That looks fantastic! Thank you for making Sherwood your cover game!!
Their cover game! I'm a mere subscriber. They should have packed and sent the copies around today, and once all the subscribers have got their mags, they will set a number of copies to be sold worldwide for non-subscribers too.

Wauw! Just played the cartridge physical release. I really can´t believe how good this is. This should be concidered game of the year for sure.
Completed Musketeer and I´m really into Sherwood now!
Will we see other releases in the future?
I'm glad you are enjoying the game. Griffonsoft are definitely working on more new C64 games! :D
any chance to have a port of the game on Switch/ios? It looks fantastic, but I don’t have a pc (for now).
Great game ! But i miss the ability to save my progression. Please consider this option in future games. Yes i know i can do a freeze and save - but its not the same. The CRT should be able to save to a Disk or save in the cartridge.
Is Sherwood coming to Steam?
hi, i've tried only 3 screen. amazing job, really. thanks so much. i'll try musketeer too
Too low price, why???
You should increase this price the game is worth, how many levels does it have?
This game si awesome...!
❤👍
Over 30 screens - You are welcome to buy any of the originals :)
Thank you for your kind words!
👍
I preordered the physical edition and am looking forward to it. Does it work with a standard Atari joystick when played on original hardware?
Will there ever be proper distribution in Europe? Buying from outside the EU sucks big time. There's so much added processing cost.
Excellent game. I added it to my video among other games released in December.
After doing very little on the C64 this year, I'm now back and have of course checked out Sherwood. Really cool game – I love it!
There's also a short gameplay video on my channel:
Loving the game!
Just to check (as I ran into the old CRT bug) The two CRT versions now on the download dated 2025-12-15 (sherwood-ef.crt and serwood-ocean.crt) - are these the fixed versions? Thanks for the fast update!
Also, what's the difference in these two files?
Thanks and have a great holiday... I know what I'll be playing !
Yes, these are the fixed files. One is in Ocean cartridge format and one is in Easyflash cartridge format.
Thanks for the fast reply! Really is a gem of a game, takes me right back to my childhood and the kinds of games I loved back then. So cool to see the c64 scene so vibrant these days! Great time for retro gamers :)
I'll be sure to check out Musketeer after this.
A really cool game and a worthy successor to "Musketeer," which we already reviewed and completed back in September, see older videos. Our German-language review can be found at 00:35:11. English subtitles are also available. Subscribing to our YouTube and Twitch channels is welcome. 🙂
Somehow i got the full ending (with the ring) and still had 1 coin left. I guess that's for all the trouble. Neat game, thanks!:)
Very nice Game, but why i can‘t Save my Progress?
An unexpected tip! We did not know this was possible :))
Well done!
Okay, I had to make a map of the entire game, but I finally got the 45 coins for the ring for Marion! But when I finished, I didn't notice a different ending. Is there supposed to be a different ending?
You should get some serious love coming from your bride.
Okay, confirmed. She blows kisses and little hearts float up! I kept waiting for a cut scene or different dialogue. Really, really loved this game!
If we ever do a 128 port - we could cram something more substantial in. As is, we had memory left only for this. Thank you for your kind words and playing!
No worries. LOVED the game! I can't tell you how happy it makes me to be playing C64 games again after all these years.
Hey, I hope you don't mind, but I placed your awesome game into the best C64 homebrew games of 2025.
You should play Deathflood: Curse of Oak Island, one of the most enjoyable games this year.
Thank you. I will give it a shot :)
Oak Island is better than the first Deathflood, but still horrendously frustrating at times heh. There will be a review of it AND Sherwood in the next issue of Zzap!64
https://youtu.be/nb21WR0UPCM there is a bug on TheC64mini and I am not able to finish the game. See attached recording. It happens every time.
Try the newly updated cartridge version, should be fixed now 😄
Unfortunatelly I still got the same error with the latest crt version :(
The bug has now been fixed in the latest cartridge build. It does not affect the tape or disk versions.
does this contain the instruction Manuel pdf?
Plant the seed and it seem to lead somewhere NEW... tip.
I was 5 short of the ring for Marion :(
Little bug (played the DSK), when I restarted the game, the last heart and 3 arrows were still present on screen from the previous game. Looks like you're not blanking out the top bar all the way over... the book was still there too!
This can happen when you cheat and have many life feathers on the top HUD line at game completion. I should not happen to honest folk ;)
This game's aesthetic is masterful. I wasn't alive for the existence of the Commodore 64, but I very much want to own one now. I've been staring at these screenshots for the past five minutes. Is it hard to set up an emulator for the 64?
Super easy, just grab Vice.
I tried running the demo with it, but it just says, "? UNDEF'D STATEMENT /n ERROR /n READY"
Tutorials said I could drop the file (currently using the demo one) into the emulator window and it would run it, but that's not happening. Suggestions?
EDIT: I was using the wrong .exe of many. Now though I've mapped my keyboard to the joysticks, I can't get past the "press fire to play" screen...
Love the game! Can you tell us how many different side quests there are? The Saracen said 45 coins for a ring, and I was going to do it, but talked to the king and ended on accident. Is there a completionist checklist?
There are hidden coins to find to get the 45 required. A map by Friar Tuck is available in the download of the game which gives you hints on how to find them.
The Saracen has three sings to sell, so when you get that ring, you will have completed 100% - It takes getting every single coin in the game.
We respect you fully as a gamer and fellow c64 enthusiasts without reaching 100%! :) - We added that for those rare individuals who loves that kind of thing :)
This is a great game. Tough at times due to there not being a save I have found yet... is there one?
Also what is this tucks map I hear about?
Okay, I have been a naughty boy and although I have never POKED around before, I have done so for the first time (using an Action Replay "action_replay_6.crt" ) and have some for:
Infinite Lives (use both) :
POKE 32030, 165
POKE 32937,165
Infinite Arrows:
POKE 31726,165
Now the issue I am having is still the same one - Although I can get the Blue Book from Tuck... What and how do I use it?
I seem to get to the castle, and just stand there unable to proceed as the gate is down :(
You go as far left as you can, which I think is where you start the game main game from after the intro screen. Climb up and as far left as you can and then leap left. You should land on a higher section that you can continue on. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for the pokes. I play using the VICE emulator and use the snapshot save/load function to save my progress.
I think we are supposed to give the book to the priest? before he runs away in the cave where 3 eagles attack you right after entering the door. But he goes away too fast. I don't know what the book is used for and I think nobody does. Everybody complete the game with the book still in the inventory.
I've found the Friar Tuck map and managed to find 3 of the missing coins but I can't find the centre 2 in the castle and the 3 in the cave, despite pinging arrows everywhere! Any hints, tips or exact location appreciated. :-)
Also, Your idea for a sequel in the snowy setting sounds fantastic. I'd buy it.
1 coin near a house.
1 coin is in the second screen behind the first door.
2 coins are in the caves behind the door at the far left.
4 coins are in the second part of the castle after paying the ransom.
Where did you find the Friar Tuck map? Been searching for hours and can't find it anywhere!
I think he means the picture of the map that is included in the download bundle (in the map folder)
The map is not in the game. It's in the zip file of the game you downloaded under the folder map.
It works fine on the C64 Ultimate from Commodore too.
I played the CRT version, but wil try the TAP now I know it has music too!
Wow, I’m already in love with this game, but the winter edition completely melted my heart!! :) PLEASE create a full winter version too, I would totally buy it! And yes, please make a series!!
We are considering a future sequel - And agree with you - The winter theme came out nice. Possibly themed "Hunters Moon" - A harsh Winter has struck England as by Witchcraft. Robin Hood must aid Herne the Hunter in breaking the evil spell. (Expect making arrows catch fire by shooting them through flames.)
Great to hear that! :) It sounds wonderful. Anyway, thank you all for this awesome surprise just before my birthday, this game really brightens my weekdays! Sherwood is truly a masterpiece in every aspect. Congratulations, and keep up the great work!
Cheers,
Tibor Puskás (Snip)
Happy Birthday!
Thank you for this, here is my tribute...
Make a series with new mechanics and more Robin adventures! :)
See my comment above : )
Thank you! :-) Sherwood – Christmas Demo (2025, Griffonsoft)
Nice gfx man...!❤👍
Game finished, I'm very pleased to play it after Musketeer :)

Thank You very much for this masterpiece for the little C64 !
Spoiler alert!!
Well... You did not get 100% completion I see :)
Thanks for playing all the way through!
So, time to re-play ;)
That's the spirit!
PS - You need to use Tucks map 'o secrets to find all you need!
Many thanks ;)
Any clues on where to find it?
Did you translate Friar Tucks latin clue?
If you do that will lead you to what to do.
The stars will hint at where.
Finished ! This time seriously :)

purchased! best homebrew ever seen on c64

fantastic work , the price is absolutely confirmed
Tight controls, challenging gameplay and TONS of atmposphere (not to mention brilliant tunez) make this a total winner! Also an absolute bargain - costs as much as burger & will keep you satisfied for longer ;)
Absolutely freaking love C64 game aesthetics like this! WOW!
Thank you!
Well done guys! Very nice game, stunning GFX , great sound FX and good gameplay.
