Data Dash Updates


This years Global game Jam (2026 for those in the future) had a theme of Mask. My motivation was wanting to try something I hadn’t done before in GB studio. I hadn’t made a game mechanic around a timer script before nor made a HUD which conveyed the decreasing time limit. With the theme of mask I immediately thought about some sort of filter or oxygen supply. While brainstorming whether the context would be a spacecraft, lab or burning building I realised I could add extra textual depth by using MASK as an acronym: Massive Autonomous Scalable Knowledge. This is of course reference to LLMs. So, to be topical, I went with a data center. Data Dash is fairly polished, I have ironed out the bugs and made the timer script and tile swaps more efficient. There was significant juddering when the player moved around due to this inefficient script. I will be adding some extra levels and a points summary of some sort soon. If you find any bugs, let me know.
