Surreal, dreamy, calming, intense - my (game) music captures complex ranges of emotion and imagery. Hard to categorize, it incorporates influences from VGM, club, 'underground' internet, Japanese environmental, (hyper)pop, ambient, and more! Anything's fair play for scoring video games, and in my musical and games practice, I draw on a personal belief in the importance of valuing the old and/or obscure and making historical connections to the present. I'm a Taiwanese/Japanese-American - after releasing Anodyne's dark and dreamy 16-bit OST in 2013, I wrote the relaxing OST for 2016's Even the Ocean, with a wider range of influences. 2018's All Our Asias OST scores a decaying and hopeful world of dreams and memory, and the diverse 2019 Anodyne 2: Return to Dust OST developed my style further into a surreal world of 2D mindscapes and low-poly 3D mountains and cities.
My latest release is 2022's Sephonie OST, a dense work of complex compositions for a game's spiritual, cave-diving journey of three biologists. Now I'm currently working on the game Angeline Era, due in 2024.
Some of my non-OST work can be found on the 2015 instrumental album "Model Minority No More," experimental OST "Perfect" (2016) and 2020 archival album "Great Tree Library of Melos."
