In Sword Opera, you play as skilled paragons balancing their own ambitions and their loyalty to a Circle of allies, seeking to dominate a wondrous underworld that you build throughout play. You conjure grand romances, tense banter, strange powers, dramatic twists, and harrowing finales.
You play to find out if the Circle can shine in a world full of danger: rival Circles, determined Nemeses, fatal flaws, imminent peril, and the tension between desire and duty.
These complex, volatile stories play out in three underworlds included in the rules:
- San Mercurio, a Mediterranean island surrounded by an everlasting storm and the burgeoning Renaissance beyond. It's The Tempest meets The Three Musketeers.
- Hot Town, an international criminal ring network centered on the French Quarter of an alternate-reality 1970s New Orleans. It's John Wick meets The Get Down.
- A Lingering of Lilac, a provincial jiānghú clasped between the sorrows of swordmasters and the decadence of their desires. It's The Apothecary Diaries meets The Wire.

Sword Opera is a roleplaying game of melodrama and action best suited for 2-6 players. It takes between 2-4 hours to play a session of Sword Opera, and the game is designed to by played over a campaign of several sessions.

What is the "Claim download key" button that appears after purchasing the game?
Are you a Kickstarter backer? That's the only group of people I can think of who should be getting a download key prompt.

Just the Sword Opera Digital Edition PDF, nothing more.
That's probably right then. A digital version of the map is available if you pay $45 or more, and the play sheets are set up as a "demo" so they'll be free, but that means they're not included in the downloads for a purchase. You can download them here on the game page though.
Siiiiick. Can't wait to swash some buckles, akimbo some guns, and wire some fus!
