What happens when a novelist plays table top RPGs?

My name is Margot Hutton and I write novels that are controlled by dice.

I use the TTRPG Ironsworn by Shawn Tomkin, the Discord bot called TheOracle bot by Xeno and rsek, and my own 27+ years experience in creative writing to create something unique and intriguing that falls in between play-report and novel. The narrative and rolls are woven together and are carefully placed around one another to lend suspense and fulfillment throughout the story.

What I create are not traditional novels because the dice rolls are real and the novels play by the rules of the game: rules that have the power to veer the story as they will. But neither is it simply a narrative that explains the results of dice someone else has thrown. It’s unique in that it’s written/played for the reader, for their entertainment and joy, to immerse them in a journey.
