Its the same Game, yes, but assets where replaced and the Cutscenes between stages where removed :(
So a asset swap back to the original would absolutely possible,
even if he cant recreate the cutscenes.
This game (and kunio) would deserve it, its the first of its kind.

The Loopings and Ramps however are a serious programming challenge and i dont know if Scorpion can even handle that.
Those are the biggest hurdles of them all.
(according to the Programmers who worked on Sonic)
Back then, it was never done before and pushed the Programmers way beyond there limits. So Sonic is not just a cute and very fun
Game, its also a marvel in assembly programming and how to solve that Problem.
I wish the Team and Reassembler all the best in bringing Sonic to the Amiga;
that would be truly incredible !

Just tried the NoCave files from the Iso versions
in WinUae. (for a quick and easy test)
Both look kinda odd. (even more so in motion)

Why is this ?

Yes, its called "NOT A CAVE" (like Han said in the movie) .... i always read it as HOT CAVE .. (besides, there is an A in the middle)

So the "NOT A CAVE" level does not use Loops ? hmmm i could have sworn ....
Huh... the other stages runs sooo smoooth tho... is it really so much more demanding, compare to the other levels ?
(i play on the MIST FPGA. I love this little thing. For Star Dust Wars DC it has to be in the fastest mode)
I think i will try the "Not A Cave" file from the Cd32 version later on.

Played the Game from the first Mission to the last and the "Cutscenes" are now perfecly centered and the alignment matches exactly the Gameplay sections. Perfect !!!
The Soundsettings/loudness is saved proper.
Thats very,good and userfriendly !!!
(i go for 10music and 1sfx and then play it LOUD)

I tried the new exe and the Sound is back in the Cutscenes.
You stream Sound and Video at the same time from different sources/files ?
Uff, thats heavy Man ! ;)
The Saving of the Sound options does not work.It saves ...something, but not the Music/sfx loudness.
All Levels are already unlocked which may a bit weird for new Players because they would start at the last Level.
I add a few Pics so you can see the "off center Cutscenes/Menu".No biggie really, just wanted to report it.
(my Monitor is perfectly adjusted for fullsceen overscan)

About the Screen Shift; thats my bad, my stupid Brain played tricks on me; nothing changed between the Versions just like you said. I think i got that messed up because of the jumps between Emulation (for a quick test but that "autocenters") and then playing on MIST FPGA. However, The Main Menu (that is handled like the "Cutscenes" is shifted to the Right side, just like the "Cutscenes" itself. The Gameplay sections are more centered. Hmm, i make Photos later on, so you can see what i mean. Until then.

This is amazing! I just love this Game, its the "Godfather" of this Genre.
The first of its kind. Too bad that it was reskinned for the west.
It lost lots of charme of the original Release (and also lost the "cutscenes)
and give us the original ?

WinUae for a quick test but i play on MIST FPGA.
The things you mentioned like the 2nd candle freeze (there are more, i think)
and the weird "sucked towards the stairs" stuff will pretty sure also happends on real Hardware.
Of course, "Apperently and accordingly" is no proper testing method.
I do lots of testing for the MiniMig AGA FPGA Team and also for Games;sometimes
(if you finish Turrican 2 AGA you will find me there ;)
Hmmm, i might have a go with the new build and write down all the bugs i find ...
that could take a while tho ...
Give me a few Days .... i will write it down and report back.

Well, there are many , many new ones .... (lot got changed)
But the first game breaking BUG is right there when you enter the Castle.
WHIP the second Candle (is a bit higher) and the Player Sprite will vanish
and the game stuck in limbo (except using the Fkeys)
Testing can be a pain in the .....
Please, take your Time Dante. (and whip every single cande) ;)
Anyway, thats enough for now i think; sure, there are lots of other bugs
but you will find them, if you just play the game a few times.

Love this Project Dante, but soo many new BUGS where introduced in those last updates,
so i stick to an older version (i think Juny or July). While it also have already some of those new issue, it is at least playable from start too finsih.
(while being WAYYYYY to easy of course) ;)
A option to change the Main Sprite would also very much appreciated.
(Let us choose between the OG Sharp, Richter or the new one pleaaase)

Hi Sheepy, it has been a while.
New Bugs where introduced with this update, like ZERO SOUNDin "Cutscenes", you know, like the destruction of the Deathstar & Co.
The only "Cutscene" that has Sound is the Main Menu.
The Sceenshift to the right side is also pretty heavy, while "the game" itself is centered, the Main Menu and the "Cutscenes" are all the way to the right (it was not so bad previously, looks a bit "off")
Yes its true, that the videos are a bit clearer now, but i go back to an older version until those BUGS are fixed ;)
A option that saves the Soundvolume (or lets set it via Tooltypes would be also very appreciated, cause everytime i start SDW i first have to press F10 in the Main Menu and the 1or2 for the soundFX volume.
The default volume is ..... "not optimal" ;)
Sometimes some small gfx glitches are visable in the Edge area, mostly on blacks.
Dont know what can be done about those.
Anyways, keep on sheeping;

I tried to find Simon Voice Samples, but had no luck .
(or found the NES sfx ... ;),
but thanks to this new build simons voice is at least male.
( it bugged me since the early builds ).
Maybe the sfx in the MainTitleScreen are also a bit "ruff".... ;) hehe
Ohh, and about the Simon Sprite. Please dont get me wrong Dante,
i really like the redesign, it´s very accurate to the original NES Coverartwork .. .. but i guess... its the teeth. XD when i look at his Facei get serious "super double dragon" (SNES) flashbacks XD
Maybe a option, like in Turrican 2 AGA with an option to change the sprite would be nice; but thats just a idea. As you know, its easy to come up with an idea, but to make it a reality is another thing ;)
More Ideas: make the Subweapon work like in the Original. Fire+Up.

Well, enough of my silly ideas to improve Castlevania for the AMIGA even more.

Hi, you can rename the file withing the Workbench, Dopus or via a Command line like
Rename FLOPPY to HD
then edit this file with the ED command (there are many ways to do it)
ED HD and exhange the word FLoppy to HD
It loads way faster. Dont know why the Scorpion engine does this....
A bit weird but it works. (i did this with all the Scorpion games and it works on almost all o them... depends of the scoprion engine version that was used;
A hint is when there is a Drawer called "savedata" ... then the HD thing works.
Hope i could help, but it work either way... just slower ;)

For best results on Harddisk:
1) Change the Filename FLOPPY to HD and edit the File. Change the word FLOPPY within the File to HD for faster loading in the game.
2) Use a generic 3.1 WHDLOAD slave to prevent a Bug that otherwise happends, if you are returning back to the Workbench.
3) Enjoy and have fun with this great game :)

There are only a few odd lines that appear when the screen is dark and junks of data is loading.
For example, when you load a game (those a just there for a second or two .. sems like some sort of decrompression or something like that)
No big deal, but that was not present in the Jam Version.
Seems to me that data/screens changes quicker on the older Version. The older version is also a bit bigger.
Do you use some sort of decompression now ?

I bought the Game and i am really enjoying it so far !
Scrolling could be s bit smoother tho; but i am osessed with 1x1 Pixel Scrolling.
The Hit detection especially on Bosses could be improoved;
but who am i to talk about thing like these ;)
I am to stupid to make even a PONG game for crying out loud ! :)

There is a very nasty bug :(
If you exit the game back to the Workbench you can´t doubleclick anything anymore.
(you can try it and when you click again then the WB freezes)
Tried that on Mist/er and WinUae. Same result.
(my real Amiga is stored away... my precious) ;)
So, for now i have to use the old Version that does not support a second button. (but the exit works, thanks to WHDload)
Would be very nice if you could fix that ;=)
