another one gem to rock with the aesthetic and design! i think i’ve said this before, i forgot, but the art that were put down into bits, lovely elements that livened up the setting! loving the cute cat plushies wallpaper, the weekly cat image, the cat toes mouse pointer, the cat browser icon, and most of all, THE catboy love interest you gotta set out for a toxic juicy love drama and possibly angsty trip down your ex’s history.

I’ve been so excited for a chance to be able to play this one while waiting for the complete series of Karamu. Also will be marathon playing your future works along with MHIAS, Actala, and the Deepwater Witch because playing them so far has been really satisfying and inspiring!XD

First impression: lol Geist? Seriously like poltergeist so a ghost, word of some language prob German and it was. lame name which he’s deserving of it when that’s the least you could do when he intruded and haunted outta nowhere. my man lived rent free in your head but made himself home and would scare other visitors scarce.

early thoughts into starting: wheew what a fine man to go with belittling my existence 🥴 i did love an additional flavour to my suffering.

Main thoughts: Geist’s self-projecting commentary to mock the little embarrassing options, to doubt the MC’s autonomy and choices, how he diminished them to existential crisis was really familiar in that intimate who better knows you than your own anxiety represented. At least, he was manageable and funny at times. Progressing the story had this clearer, visible state of how Geist treated you; his presence can be comforting at the certain, right moments, but also since we’re just outsider here would make us start to think “that doesn’t sound right” from his catastrophic spiral, like he might be got a point or two, but the rest might be off. one bad time/possibility doesn’t define the rest of your life or your value set in stone, or something. im hoping to instill that kind of thought stronger in real life. Kalei, too, you could see yourself in him, and he in return helped you see better in other people’s shoes, he was mostly like that thin beam of sun that came past clouds post rain/storm. even his circle of friends, the way they acted around him and how he felt being among them, reminded me of my own friend group. i envied his extroverted energy, still.

thankfully, we weren't as insane as to conjure a (good on the eye-looking) personified mental worries, in canon. How Geist latched onto MC was understandable plus he was just a kid who died too early. I was glad (and def a peaceful fact to sleep with at night) to see him still staying and hanging around after the happy and better end, maybe growing together and working on healing. Like, he did care in his own way, though his perception of trauma got in the way, he still allowed mc to be happy with somebody else.

okay enough psychological rambling, now artistically considering, i liked how the shifting hue, that dark effect engulfing the corners to capture that trapped feel, and how these box dialogue and switch to that group according to the scene set up the atmosphere, the terms escape me but your works always had that cinematic quality that was really enjoyable and to combine with the smooth, neat GUI fitting the overall classy modern monotone (idk) of Geist’s aesthetic, absolutely perfect. That aside, there was just one tiny typo and doubled paragraph in the dev notes.

Last note: Geist was an effective ghost, I mean i was literally shaking, buy him brown contacts PLEASE. an d i wonder if that tutor and the woman that just came by were cameos from another game of yours, or im tweaking..??

loved Stan, i booked him saved for later after getting happy end of Cass first, lol, always gotta be attracted to a dream man with admirable aspects…. okay well i just have a type. i liked the way the hospital workplace atmosphere was set up, and the text with those outlines settled in satisfyingly solid as usual, heres to the people that picked up their arms and leg(s) and carried on! i did like how Cass got back, plus an end to just live with both. spoiled with wholesome kisses in this one to top it off. not sure about the other ends though, i know there were like three happy ones and one possible bad end but im curious what about the other two.

aw, the story wasnt quite finished:( and no kisses. but, im invested in how the story went so far! loving the theme. personally it could use more background context on certain terms of worldbuilding but i get this was basically frankenstein, steampunk and dungeon-rpg-related in one. looking forward to a more complete version:D

i tested this twice because i forgot my count, sorry Velo, well mentor’s part of the blame for not putting the p.s letter in that drawer where the candy stash was put away/j then again, Velo had indirectly reminded from mentor’s warning (guessing it was from a lesson learned..) i spent the past eleven minutes of start or so just interacting with things.. this was really rich exploration to savor through as you learn characters and the history of objects (Esp the sweet gifts, and sweets..), this such a dream home tbh. new charas cameo found! Umiyuki and Hoshiro… They were really pretty and fitting with the aesthetic theme of the game. game froze on me a few times (reading the letter mentioning the cheescake, examining puzzle, or when that story near the end played out), unsure why though my puter does get a bit hissy. Also the hard puzzle medal didnt appear in items despite having finished?

i hope there was nothing bad or irreversible painful consequence happening to Velo in that end…. luma and cosmo were such eye candy in human forms 😍😍

seemed really modern cool and cute vibes! sad i can’t exactly play it with the screen zoomed in big and doesn’t fit properly for my screen TT

control still stiff around the edges, too heightened sensitivity of movements at the moment, part of the challenge but i think would be nice to experience if it’s more balanced and i hope we can stay still while attacking towards a direction. looking forward to more updates of following the brave coyote on his adventure and battles!:)

liked how the pieces were shaped and colored according to feelings, felt like tangible in a sense of emotion, and the lines i noticed were apt, warmth; pointed like sun, the sharp mirror and the sadness jar.. im interested in more levels or features you are going to tweak further into this and other puzzles! <3

No worries there. Do you mind giving some hints on how to get the other ends? I’m kinda stuck tbh.

some clickable elements like the river, the hidden meat around the middle and the flowers kinda messed the order of the events by appearing again/not disappearing, like this and the meat at middle there upon trigger followed by switched up dialogues. (the flowers with that right arrow i noticed stuck until the credits if you decide to interact with the flowers first). there were some sprite imgs not found; ‘maerie talk3’, ‘zale talk’, ‘maerie’

only got the first end, and the rest of 7-11 ends so far, i wonder how many ends actually are there? i think the story could use up some more background/context to clear up the emotional nuance between the characters, was good to pick up the pieces as they went that the duo were childhood friends out for a trip so Zalie’s sickly sister could get better(/revived since she was already dead all along??). first time playing and getting the end was kinda a ‘lost on me’ depth and disbelief feel for me. but still nice, i liked the point & click aspect with the art that made it feel like an adventure storybook/fairytale:D the good voice acting gave more life, also the moral of wish=sacrifice(s) to be made was on point too (still hoping for a happy best end tho lol)

i think it would be good to show a mark on the level card we finish, at the very least to show visible progress on which level(s) far we’ve passed and a highlighted version (like just with shadow, slightly brightened up color or something) upon hovering if it’s possible. also could use a sound effect on the unlocked gate, have a dash option (esp helpful for the long, roundabout routes of some levels) and a smoother/reduced abrasive sound for the pushed box because if we use arrow keyboard to push it continously, makes like a loud, layered repetitive noise.

another underrated gem.. daniel was very cutie patootie sweetheart, the setting and dialogue felt natural to make you settled right away. just a bit unsure, i think the story was going backwards in flashbacks since sleeping in the crate? some backgrounds felt kinda out of place too like the maid’s living quarters esp, but prob just placeholders for the demo as of now. hopeful to see this come to its full fledged completion one day.. ^^

well what can i say this marked quite the impression on my subsconciousness that i had my own nightmares. i liked the recurring cycle to face another nightmare blurring your sense of reality that it changed current goal to just SURVIVE haha.

this scratched the spot if you like action-thriller/revenge movies like equalizer, beekeeper and john wick. like yess loving it when they go apeshit over losing (literally) people close to them that’s their only worth connection to their normalcy and sanity.

had to say mr. red here was valid though, detective kinda deserving what came his way since he took those moments with his family for granted. but on the other hand, i get the feeling of having to finish this one thing so it could get out of the way, distancing with it away from the important thing and rather be safe than sorry when the threat was right behind your back.. neither was a win-win so it just left you this one miserable void. i’d hope all of that in the story was just some bad dream, premonition to teach him a lesson or something. i think it would create a more stable attachment to the characters if the flow of story were slower, things escalated quickly for sure. anyway, also cool to hear that two opposing characters were voiced by same one voice actor.

yknow the top favoritism of william made sense since he was a real one here and got mc’s back like yeah damn girlie have priorities, the key is to get yourself a man who looks at you the way he looked at her, the chemistry with him the most fitting so. felt either sus or too alert with Auguste, and for Jay, i just felt guilty and sad. i have a feeling it might be connected with the purple boy mentioned in William’s story, leading to the reasoning behind Erica’s act there.. and what with Theo being Auguste’s desk mate.

that aside, the swinging screen following mouse way was nice in an added unsettleness that felt like something could jump at me, a fourth-wall break shenanigan happening.. (or just how the screen shook at the same time i got surprised), and how the zoom-in with the move of characters too, gripped me like i was there in her shoes tbh. cool and funny that the way cg appearing was designed like a some-dang-ref body discovery. i think aside from the one trouble of skipped voiced dialogue bits and how William’s voice pan the same in my headphone at times (thinking it might be one of his quirks atp..), that resulting same dialogue in the sleepover break was kinda inconsistent since when Erica picked either Jay or Auguste supposed to be the place according their places, not from bahtroom again or something like that.

another story beautifully done well! i love how both routes tied things up and all came together that complement-complete as a whole true story. best end was def one in William’s route though haha, i prided myself on being able to play through knowing which one would be bad ends that i aimed first as usual before getting each and all but mostly because the way narrative told and guided us through was satisfying and distinct. ugh i also cried at William’s dedication like how could i not favor him over Haorang? the latter was more sweet in like a shoujo kind of way though haha, and William’s route felt like josei.. that aside, the GUI was flawless and i liked how the NVL was done like that!

im curious on how you pronounce the -er term was it like ‘err’ or something else? The historical parts like war, revolution and the context revolved i feel, deserved its own place in the glossary it didnt help i still dont get it too much. also this needed the usual content advisory like in Rosenberg, got myself real spooked by the loud noises of knocking and especially William’s shooting haha, and probably other aspects noted,

i dont know the right way to refer to it but the knowledge involving the foreigners, attitude and the protagonist’s view was very clearly telling of her awareness at the time from the housekeeper’s training affecting her.. especially counting in the changing age setting against how things went much worse back then, i liked how William tempered her to be as equal and help her interpretations with his own through the journey and time spent trying to find beyond the misjudged truth. apologies if i explain this not that well, i do understand it can be a touchy subject too.

others i noted were usual typing errors so do feel free to look up ones i list below if there were some youre unaware of!

• defined name mixed in narration of ‘Haorang took in a deep breath, frowning, and then continued.’
• William’s dialogue typo; “It is what they can an ‘energy bar’ these days.”

the beginning of repeating deaths suprisingly brought me back to times of watching a death time-loop genre like rezero and when they cry.. it was interesting to see how it unfolded from all the way just encountering, experiencing a one-time strange event to having to accept there were monsters looming your back, getting introduced to this hunting organization before meeting ‘the daughter’, was expecting she would spare us from going through those deaths lol but at least points for monster knowledge(+free trauma). couldve been worse, ig.

i bet my guy Rae blushed and kicked his feet all giddy like a schoolgirl lol just adorable, and Adriel was, oh man a force of freak accidents, in his own endearing way haha loving how to utilise all those shoujo cliches to take the initiative yourself or encouraged him to his confession or doom.. first game considered with all the rules of one involved, it was good going, i liked the simple but did its job (literally) creative textbox design. always inspiring and glad to see developers like you managed to work together and paired up with the voice actor, other programmers.. that this one seemed and felt seamless, overall complete and impressive effort involved behind it<3

you got the entire backrooms space all for yourself to enjoy (driving yourself crazy) to your heart’s content. no cheap jumpscares or chasing scenes, true horrors along the way were taste of peeled sanity drywall from having so often scrambling about the walls for those invisible doors i could almost imagine seeing letters forming on the wallpapers with the paint fusing to the pressed skin, and the sense of damp carpet bracing your steps deeper to merge your footing into the place it could devour you.

apologies for my personal long analysis in advance, im aware of the backrooms as much as the passing memes, the lore is beyond my knowing. yes so absolutely was solid as psychology horror material to be desentisized to the claustrophobic warped lemmeouttaherelemmeouttaherelemmeouttahere look.

well, that aside, while the achievements were a nice telling semblance of the character’s progress or rooting the trapped loop scene. i think it would be nice to learn enough of the character, more reactions as we went further into exploring as at least a grounding element to power through since it felt like, i guess intended, to be in the mc’s shoes. also it instilled the tone of us actually holding (and abusing) authority over him that he didnt tire of walking, stripped from basic needs of starving, or dehydration to at least put him to an end but we have the choice to give him mercy as if we were responsible for throwing him there and pushing him to the limits as his only purpose, yeah another aspect of the horror for it aside from some guilt, no monsters but we might be the one inhuman as much as him in that way he could survive for so many steps and long distance while prob the space distorting his mortality through the suffering.

anyway loving the branching many choices available already, although not every one led to an end exactly, still excited for every opened up paths. loved me the curious and direct route most. just simple to tread carefully and temper at least the bond with my own special demon paralysis in an i̶m̶b̶a̶l̶a̶n̶c̶e̶ negotiable partnership kinda deal when life is in shambles with sleepless nights for sure.

Oh hey neato, i was holding off buying that monster app, thank God for the fixes! Aside from that theres still some occasion of the daughter’s name reverting back to the default. But I’ve been enjoying it so far, really fun im progressing well and significant still.

ending list in order received: ash grey, aragonite white, alabaster white, onyx white, calcite white, howlite white, velvet red, agate white, rich black, i wonder if the ending names were how much closer they relate in shades/connect with snow white colour? or there could be some symbolism i missed. top favs on first sight: Dominic, Richard (despite laughing at the fact he looked more like the vampire), ..Ethel’s father. came to like: Dietrich, Dale, Derek.

i think there was a reference of red riding hood in the velvet red end?

you could reach up to half a day or more to finish this if casually or first-time player with multiple retries through game over because that was what i felt and even then, it took days lol, so i assumed this finished version was what the supposed story with its shorter than the original length like? okay aside from that question, the following were the rest of my thoughts during the gameplay.

1. first impression was the closer perspective that can set you on edge from feeling the zoomed in horror and limited field of vision.
2. the shadow of the character sprite, the way it was shaped and inconsistently dense, and cropped sprite at times could look striking, they clash especially during scenes with bright background like this, they blend well enough when it’s dark/black, though they do could use adjustment to fade or smoothed out more. only Ron’s sprite looked fine to me.
3. kinda a plot hole i think on the second night, after being woken up by the tv noises which i chose to ignore, followed by alarm to wake up again… Helena said it was morning but right after being prompted to turn off the tv and doing so, she said about going back to sleep? what about work? i thought maybe because she was too stressed out or something but she also said that she couldnt afford to take a day off because of the work pile then also, after hiding from that spooky someone, she said it was last night… that entire day she also spent not going to work since she was in her home, with Ron and everything. im not quite sure if i missed on something connected to that, maybe it was one of strange things happening that messed with the time or it could be a clue of the fake Helena or something?
4. the hint not disappearing properly whenever we take a look, choosing x makes that hint stick on the screen unless you reopen and then deliberately press the “close” choice. so, there was no x to cancel or close which i noticed was slightly annoying when i was particularly checking the vending machines and not forced to keep buying more lol.
5. this was what unsettled me the most tbh, when you had to
   spoilers

   escape and retry more than once after going through that particular SA scene with the principal plus in the shoes of the mc too that could be.. triggering, it didnt help that the skipping/fast forwarding feature was too slow, this can get tedious in having to skip through scenes/chapters even multiple times, and i still have yet to know where to pick up from to get those other two endings, if it does require you from the earlier chapters i think i would be content with just the ‘normal’ endings which wasnt exactly happy one for Ron or the best one kinda. back on that uncomfortable scene, i think it would do good to be more specific in the warning like the disturbing content doesnt really suffice (plus what with the blood, bullying, capgras syndrome this was likely inspired off and probably some other elements contained within), still vague and i didnt even expect there would be something like that. while i appreciate the prompt to save after completing every chapter, it would be better to add more of those especially before some chasing events.
6. the second statue piece misplaced text on supposed ‘painting’ piece

overall, this brought me back to those golden nostalgic era of rpg maker horror except like layered in retro vhs, cranked creepy factor that gave me the shivers and tentativeness on exploring those hallways haha. my favorite character was Beta, and i liked how Helena’s character development shone through admirably.

this was sick! loved the designs and piqued by the characters so far (kaelith and aria got my most interest so far.. although as much curious about the animal chesspieces they represent and how would they tie with each other, i think what i can see was the deer, the bunny, the mouse, cat, goat, squirrel, and idk for cecilia and not really sure on some of them still but part of the fun anyway), kinda relieving the game ends before the voting part haha (having flashbacks to the dark times).

there were typos like one mixup of the Nyar with Naya name, and Kaelith’s dialogue of “if anyone’s voice shifts from their spot …” being labeled in Lilith’s name, and few others though they didnt impede the playthrough much, also some things like the spot when Leon got out of the room and stood there for a sec blocked the way, and when Eula pointed out about the locked storage room despite not interacting with the door yet.

this got potential to kill it and rose to the level of those other death games-themed works. by itself, it was already whole cool idea to be expanded upon and plans of the effort put into it were clear, had added life and variety of personality so far. i wonder if we could get through the game in like pacifist mode or something, and im guessing theres prob another killer than the mc actually.. only most difficult thing to deal with would be the suspicion, just exciting to find out the stretch of possibilities anyhow!

the story was gripping as far as short as it went in this homey gloomy fairytale feel, def looking forward to more! the other characters/paths have yet to make their appearances i assume?

you didnt disappoint as usual! howard’s a real one who fits the cutie patootie term the best, all ends were heartwarming in their own way though either the two or three were the true, happy ones with him;) liked the little addition of in-game warnings, preference, credits roll,achievements and the cgs too! edit: forgot about this but i think the minus was that, can be kinda confusing to know which ones meant to be flashback at times they were thrown abruptly especially when in the middle of navigating the objects or in the attic, like oh i thought this was still in the present when Howard disappeared etc.
