It was a pretty fun game. The boss was a bit difficult until I realized that I needed to break the hearts with a dash and that having a speed upgrade helps with dodging the bullets.

I really like dashing through the enemies for an easy kill while putting yourself at risk vs using the dash as an evasive maneuver while shooting bullets. The red charging enemies where a bit annoying to deal with when the screen is zoomed in at the start of every run, but overall I had a good time playing your game :)

Very highly polished- it has an upgrade screen, proper loading screens, loads of animations, boss fights and even a leaderboard. A ridiculously hugeaccomplishment given the time limit of the jam!

YOO this is so goood! its so polished and nice and awesome

Wow, everything in this game is just fun! The first few runs were a bit messy, but after that, the design felt incredibly intuitive. I love the contrast of the mellow jazz music mixed with the high-octane bullet hell action. Smashing into enemies while invulnerable is also incredibly satisfying.  I love the upgrade system. The different options are well designed and genuinely allow for a lot of varied playstyles.

I have two minor points of feedback: I couldn't interact with the hearts when the boss fight begins (or maybe I don't understand how to use them), and the high scores are not updating properly. Otherwise, I probably would have filled most of them up by now, haha!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for your feedback, and im so so glad you enjoyed it!! Haha, for the leaderboards I intended to make it so that each person can only put 1 score up (their high score), but it seems like you were able to get past that

Additionally, for the hearts, theres a bug where if you dash while inside of them it wont break it - you have to dash into it

If youve been enjoying it, I reccomend downloading it as it runs way better,  and thanks so much for playing!!

That leaderboard system makes it incredibly addicting. I only manage like top 90% in Megabonk, but I feels super good to crack the top 10 on your game here, haha! I also noticed a hard cap on the score for the easiest level, which makes sense for balancing. I’ll stop messing up your leaderboards for now! Thanks again for clarifying the hearts mechanic. I'll definitely check out the downloaded version next.

Developer(+1)

Haha no worries! Really happy that you are enjoying it :)

Amazing concept, sadly the first prison boss is kicking my ass even when I try changing power ups and such, I will gladly play more after the jam is ended tho cuz I didn't realize it has been 30 minutes since I started playing !

Insanely polished game. Loved the enemy variety and upgrades. Keep up the good work!

Very slick! You even got an online leaderboard in here too?!! Wild! So polished for a game made in 72 hours.

Only thing I would say is that for how central (and fun) the dash is, its meter is at the top of the screen and is so small! If anything it should have the largest display size of the meters on the UI, or at least equivalent to the health? Maybe another solution would be to make the player sprite give a bit more of a clear tell for how much time there is left until the dash is ready?

Developer

Thanks so much!! Im so glad you liked it!

I totally agree, a lot of feedback has been to make the game more readable and have a clearer UI with the more important features easier to see. Il be doing a patch today or tommorow to fix it

I like your game! Even tho concept is pretty basic, but implementation is very good. Good ui, a lot of content, simple, but very pleasing graphics. The only problem is, that you added to much screenshake I think. After 20th level, happens something strange and screenshake stacks after each kill or smth like that and camera flies so far away, that I can't even see main character xd. But maybe that's because I was playing in web version and web versions are a bit buggy.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing through!! Most people gave it 1 run, and thought it was too hard so I really appreciate it. Totally tho, the late game is visually very buggy on the web version, but if you would like to try beating the second and third boss, try downloading the game, it runs way better! Thanks again

Everything feels really clear and readable, from the UI to the audio cues. The polygonal visuals look great, and the particles and screenshake do a nice job selling impact without getting messy. The dash-into-enemies mech feel awesome and gives the game a strong, satisfying rhythm. It came together into a really fun and polished experience.

Love the look of the game! Found it very fun. I had some trouble seeing what was going to hurt me at times. Other than that it was great! Also LOVE that the leaderboard is real and shared :)

Really awesome game. I had such a good time playing it, it feels polished, smooth and the leaderboard is a great addition. I frakin LOVED the menu design and the zoom out effect when you dash. Only thing that i personally would improve is putting the dash stamina bar above the HP it would feel better to see it all in the same place.

honestly, peak submission. Keep it up ;)

Really nice look and feel to this game - the visual fx on each of the shapes looks great and it was pleasing to play. The only thing I wanted more was the music to be a little more energetic to match the game play. Either way still really good job!

Really nicely polished. I thought it was an interesting take to make the player itself a weapon while also being vulnerable to damage. You managed to execute that in a way that works well. I got confused about some of the powerups and which ones did what. I got one powerup and randomly started shooting bullets despite not having an upgrade to activate them. The same thing happened with the lasers too.

It has a nice interface, and it feels fun and relaxing to play; it's well done.

I like the art style and controls, great game

Super cool game.   Lots of work put in here.   I am really bad at it lol.     Love the music and simple yet satisfying visuals.  Well done!

Submitted(+1)

It's good, really good. It works well and it's fun.
Though, I think it would have been even better if the upgrades were more than just stat boots.

Very fun to play. I agree with Isaac that you utilized the dash well. It felt nice to move around using only the mouse so I could focus on enemies and avoiding projectiles without having to press too many buttons. The music really adds to the experience, and when it changes during the boss fight I was like WOAH. Nice transition there.

Sadly, I couldn't defeat the boss. It's a good fight though, and I agree that the dash needs a bit of a buff to make it feel more balanced. It was cool to see some new types of threats as you progress. Really solid game you made, impressive that you managed to develop so many features in so little time. Awesome work!

There's an incredible amount of content on display here for such a short period of development time, multiple upgrades, enemy types, bosses, meta progression and even a leaderboard?? Super impressive work. The gameplay loop is super fun too, I love that the dash doubles as both a mobility tool, a defensive tool, and a weapon, speeding through a crowd of enemies and watching them all explode is extremely satisfying. Loved the design of the first boss, and how the music picks up when it spawns, dodging around a flurry of bullets, waiting for my dash to recharge so I could break its hearts was really fun, intense gameplay. I'm afraid to say I couldn't beat it, I think the dash nerf might be a little strong, but I'm pretty bad at balancing my game jam games so maybe I just suck haha. Either way, there's definitely enough content that I would wanna come back to this after I've played some more submissions, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for your review! No man, its just soo tough to balance games in such a short period of time, especially when you need more people and friends to test them and get feedback you know? But end of the day thats what the jams are for

Submitted(+3)

Love the simplicity. Kinda addictive game
