Hey everyone! We’re excited to announce a beginner-friendly game jam open to anyone 13+ around the world! This is the first edition of our new annual game jam, LumenJam, hosted by Mission San Jose High School’s Game Development Club. The jam will run from February 21 at 10:00 AM PST to March 1 at 10:00 PM PST, for a total of ~ 8 days. All participants will be able to vote on the theme through a Google Form, which will close 2 hours before the jam begins. The winning theme will be revealed right as the clock starts! DISCLAIMER: You must currently be 13+ to submit in this game jam. We HIGHLY encourage beginner game devs and high schoolers to participate!

THEME: 

THIS JAM'S THEMES ARE...

You can pick one word for the theme, or do multiple, and interpret it in however way you want. HAVE FUN!

RULES: 

1. Original Work: All games must be created during the jam period. You may use pre-made assets, but your game’s core design, code, and content must be your own.

2. Theme Integration: Your game should reflect the chosen theme. Creative interpretation and wordplay is greatly encouraged!

3. Team Size: You may participate individually or in a team of up to 5 members. All team members must be listed at submission.

4. Submission Requirements – Submit your game via the itch before the deadline (late entries will not be accepted unless provided with proof of a valid reason). Each submission must include:

1. A playable build (downloadable file or browser link)
2. Game title and short description describing the game as well as why it's relevant to the theme
3. Controls and instructions
4. Credits for any third-party assets used

5. Content Guidelines: All games must be appropriate and SFW. No explicit sexual content, extreme violence, hate speech, or harassment.

6. Voting & Awards: Participants will be invited to vote on select categories. Possible awards include:

1. People’s Choice: 1st & 2nd
2. Judge's Choice: 1st & 2nd

7. Code of Conduct: Treat other participants with respect; harassment, cheating, or sabotaging other teams will result in being DQed.

8. MOST IMPORTANTLY HAVE FUN! Learn lots and don't be afraid to ask questions!
