It’s simple!
Give the gift of feedback!

Starting the moment this thread is live through February 1st, 2025 0000 EST (0500 UTC) play RPG Maker games posted on the forum and give meaningful~ reviews and feedback!

How it works!
  1. Play games that are posted on the forum.
  2. Feedback must be a minimum of 150 written words. “Good game!” will absolutely not cut it.
  3. Post the feedback to the forum member’s game thread.
  4. Feedback must be constructive. Be tactful when covering areas of improvement and don’t forget what the member did well in their game!
  5. Link your completed reviews in this thread. If you’d like to join post “this is my feedback post” and this will become the post where you edit in links to your completed reviews. Bump the thread to let everyone know to check out your new reviews!
Now. You’re not doing this out of the sheer goodness of your heart, are you?
Ahem, please…do this out of the sheer goodness of your heart.

We have—
Incentives.

Badges by @hiddenone !!

You will be awarded a badge when you give feedback to—

1 game.
5 games.
10 games.

Yes. You can get all three!!

Not enough?

Well, well, well.
Special badges for special folks!

hiddenone and I will determine who is —

A Friend to Newbies — awarded to the member who gives special care to new members and first games.

The Diamond Miner — awarded to the member who gives special care to hidden gems and diamonds in the rough.

In the Weeds — awarded to the member who gives special care to the nitty gritty details.

Our last badge isshh, it’s a secret.
Well. That’s odd! Wonder what it is?

That’s it!
Go out and play!

Will watch out for any swinging sticks.

On that note, just to make sure we have 100% clarity on this since we have a few streamers/video makers here; The reviews do need to be written and posted in the game's thread, right? Video is not substitution for written feedback.

Also, not to backseat judge this festival, but might it be a better idea, if we are linking our feedback here that we just designate a post of ours as "This is my feedback post" and just edit it as we go with updated links? That way it's easy for y'all to count all the posts in a single thread.
Whenever an edit is made, the person can still bump the thread (assuming bumping follows typical forum bump rules) just to inform everyone they made a change to their feedback post.

Okay... So no matter where you give the feedback, it will count? Or will there be a special topic to put the feedback in?

It might be quite a task to keep track of all the feedback, if it is spread out over all kinds of topics.

I can dig that idea!

Added: If you’d like to join post “this is my feedback post” and this will become the post where you edit in links to your reviews. Bump the thread to let everyone know to check out your reviews!

I’d say we can do the variant of bumping used in resource and game sections. Which is, every 24 hours instead of 72. That way no one should ever end up getting stuck for long…if ever.

——

Video is not substitution for written feedback.

So…we’re sorta going to read all the reviews to determine who our special badges should be awarded to. If y’all were to post a 2 hour stream. I…woof.

I could really only see that working with shorter more structured videos, but I don’t suppose @hiddenone has any ideas how that could work for those with a preference for video.

Otherwise, I’d say written summaries should accompany any livestreams.

And, yeah. We want them posted in the game thread to help generate discussion directly in their threads! :wub

It might be quite a task to keep track of all the feedback, if it is spread out over all kinds of topics.

Reviews need to be linked in this thread to be counted.

Are bug reports feedback? I'm Microsoft certified for QA (lol)

I’d say absolutely!! That’s valuable information for anyone and any game!!

Man, wish I had a new demo for this occasion. The only game I've posted with a thread on this site is really showing its age and just how green I was...

I might try to get Chapter 2 wrapped up and make it into a temporary demo, and make my full 3-chapter demo into a thing later...
How many chapters are you gonna make? 1 chapter for a demo seems plenty. Leave something for the full release. :p

But it doesn't have to be a new game, right? We can review older posts as well?

@Ms Littlefish The rules say "150 words"... That suggests written reviews. I assume video reviews are good, too? I just much rather comment while I play the game, then write some kind of report after. :p I know I enjoy watching people play my game much more than reading about it, to see their reactions on my jokes or when they notice some random details. I can imagine more people would enjoy that feedback more than a written one.

Long question short. Do video reviews count?

Oh, nice! I love the idea for this event.
I have been super busy, but since it's a long event, I should be able to fit in some feedback for games.
Maybe it'll be a good way to try to stop being a lurker and inch back into RPG Making as well. Can't wait to get inspired! :kaopride:

the first 3 chapters are shorter, because they introduce 3 different stories that are going on in the game that all connect later. Ultimately, I think there's going to be 12-14 chapters in the finished game, but the first 3 are going to be much shorter than the rest.

You'd see this had already been asked if you took the time to read

Okay, I didn't see that. To be honest, if that was an announced rule, I thought it would have been added to the rules in the main post. I didn't read all the replies before me. I skipped right to where I was tagged. I confes :p

But that's a bummer. I'd enjoy recording a full hour gameplay video, but spending 5 minutes writing my final conclusion feels like homework. :p Haha.

Nah, just kidding. No-one here would believe I have a problem making it passed 150 words in the intro alone. :p It is a good thing they didn't put a max number of words in there. :p

Hey! That's a good idea for an event. I don't think I've ever done a well-structured review of a game on this forum before, so I might as well try to start now! This post will be my feedback post!

Pepper hopped up on my bed to snuggle earlier... and now there's grains of kitty litter all over the foot of my bed. Now she's in her own bed fast asleep. Sometimes, I like to wonder what Pepper dreams about... does she dream of chasing her toys? Pouncing on the lizards she sees on her patio? Purring in a sunny window? Receiving pets and scritchies?
Oh no... she's back in my bed.
Really interesting seeing the public be so okay with the placeholder art in Slay the Spire 2. I guess they trust in the potential of the final product, but it would be cool if the general consumer had a better understanding of dev pipelines.
Haven't updated my status in awhile. I'm taking a short break from working on my game because I have a sliiiight burnout,,
