I put together the first part of my tutorial, "Luna Engine Basics". Comes with lots of screenshots and visuals to help you understand the basic of basics in luna engine. This specific tutorial has no real detailed hands on tutorials, it is just an explanation of your X, Y, Z coordinates, your Height and Width, Offset, and how to set up your game project with luna engine. I hope this helps the many that feel a little intimidated by the simple awsome engine.

This is a downloadable PDF file

UPDATE. Part I: Hands on, Your first menu, re-arranged and beautified
Another quick update: Fixed some mistakes, indented some paragraphs and added  the playtime sprite and an Overview Summary to see what code was changed during the entire lesson

The final menu, after completing Part I: Hands On ( May look a little cheesy but hey at least you learned something new :) )

You will need the following image to follow along, although I suggested in the lesson to create your own, it will be easier for you to follow along if you use the not so good looking one I made.

UPDATE: New MenuBG, looks much better than previous one. Free to use, no need for credit, Enjoy :)

Please leave feedback, and questions for what you would like to see in the next lesson.
The next lesson so far, will contain information pertaining to, vertical window commands, more details about the BATTLE_STATUS window, and adding bust images instead of face graphics, as well as commands that are images instead of the regular text commands.  :)

Editing the color/font of the text (and the text in the command window) would be useful tutorials. Changing the colors of the command_window has always given me trouble even when using CP Menu Command Config, still no luck!

Thanks for the tutorials though, they are really great :3

Yes, but because these lessons are going to be the basic of basics for the luna engine I will not get involved with the lunatic scripting( also because I dont know how) but there are font settings that I will include, and changing the Commands will be one of the lessons. I will also include the changing color of windows, which is actually really simple. Just change back_type to :back_type => 1  and then change the setting inside of the type1 settings. Thanks for your input, its greatly appreciated :) .

Thank you very much for fixing it.

Here goes some feedback.

Feedback:

It seems you nailed it.

You take a completely newcomer and introduce her/him into the Luna Engine world without a problem.

X,Y was really essential and it seems you show how to customize the menu.

It was great that you showed how to use it from scratch (on an existing project and on a brand new one)

Suggestions for further tutorials:

  1. Show how to create a menu with fully custom graphics and interface menu step by step.
  2. Show how to make  a new menu feature, that opens a new window.  For example a quest log or message log. There might be a simple script needed for this, but what you need to show is how to implement it in Luna menu. ( I would personally like to know how to make a quest log since I haven't had time to do the proper research for that.)
  3. Finally it would be nice (and easier) to show how to remove features like formation, equipment etc etc (for adventure games mostly) because people ask this all the time. It can work without Luna Engine and LE is not essential for this of course, but still it is nice to include it.

You got the talent in making good tutorials I really liked it and I hope to see more from you.

Again thanks for fixing the link.

Pepper hopped up on my bed to snuggle earlier... and now there's grains of kitty litter all over the foot of my bed. Now she's in her own bed fast asleep. Sometimes, I like to wonder what Pepper dreams about... does she dream of chasing her toys? Pouncing on the lizards she sees on her patio? Purring in a sunny window? Receiving pets and scritchies?
Oh no... she's back in my bed.
Really interesting seeing the public be so okay with the placeholder art in Slay the Spire 2. I guess they trust in the potential of the final product, but it would be cool if the general consumer had a better understanding of dev pipelines.
Haven't updated my status in awhile. I'm taking a short break from working on my game because I have a sliiiight burnout,,
