Hello~

I'll get straight to the point.

Does the DS+ Resources contain the resources in the regular DS Resources? The DS+ and DS resources are on sale on steam I want to know the differences between them.

Thanks!

The DS+ style is actually a bit different than the regular DS for the tile sets, so they don't mesh very well together. The shading is different. The chracter sprites use the same base, but again I think there's some difference in how the hair is shaded (less noticable on the sprites than the tilesets though)

You can get away with mixing the sprites and some of the BCD tiles together, but I'd warn again mixing the A tiles from both sets together.

I van't remember how the other reources fair up against each other.

DS+ goes well with the DS+ expansion, but the DS is different enough to not go all that well together. Both resource packs are extensive and cute, and the store page describes the content pretty well.

If you are limited in what you can buy, I'd skip the DS and do the DS+ stuff.

One thing not mentioned so far is the DS and DS+ each come with 20 tracks of music as well. You could probably do an entire game with those 40 combined tracks right there, as they mix together pretty well.

I just bought those plus the Samurai DLC last night because they were on sale.  All the comments here have nailed the DS and DS+. I'm not disappointed.

I would do the oppposite actually, I much prefer the original ds pack, but it comes down to a matter of preference, I guess. In any case, they're both great buys, you won't regret them.

EDIT: Wait a second...this is my 1000th post! :D *throws fireworks*

I like both but I'd say get DS if you're budget-tight. There's a lot of stuff in it, mostly fantasy. A whole heck of a lot more sprites, although DS+ comes with a generator.

A list I made of what comes in DS -

  • 36 full-size front view battlers and high-res versions
  • 160 human sprites (34 with four color schemes for each type of sprite)
  • 12 animal sprites (dogs, cats, and horses, four color schemes for each type)
  • 48 monster sprites (12 different types with four color schemes)
  • 24 vehicles (3 types, four colors each)
  • 2 skipping child sprites (there is a whole sheet of kids in the 160 human sprites but they do not skip)
  • 1 naked base for adult sprites
  • 1 naked base for skipping child sprites
  • 33 event objects
  • 160 faces/portraits (they match the human sprites, but the four variations are a little different than just recolors)
  • 5 Dungeon Sets (Ice, Sewer, Crystal, Space, Mines)
  • 4 Town Sets (Arabian, Forest, Castle, Town)
  • 80 Icons, 85 Big Icons, 1 Windowskin
  • 20 BGM Tracks
  • some handy scripts
  • 20 sample maps

and then what comes in DS+ -

  • Over 30 tilesets (A1-TileD) and over 15 character sheets to create 4 distinct areas (feudal Japan, modern, futuristic and pirate ship)
  • 20 BGM tracks
  • 43 full-size front view battlers (with high res versions)
  • 124 chibi pixel battlers (tiny, and adorable)
  • 10 floor battlebacks (with high res versions)
  • 13 wall battlebacks (with high res versions)
  • 36 bust characters (with four emotions each, for the most part (two characters have an extra emotion)) and the same in faces
  • 2 system balloons
  • Character generator (with a bunch of separate parts), importing guide and 2 video tutorials by Archeia
  • Sample project with 120 maps, complete with passabilities and custom material
  • some scripts

Pepper hopped up on my bed to snuggle earlier... and now there's grains of kitty litter all over the foot of my bed. Now she's in her own bed fast asleep. Sometimes, I like to wonder what Pepper dreams about... does she dream of chasing her toys? Pouncing on the lizards she sees on her patio? Purring in a sunny window? Receiving pets and scritchies?
Oh no... she's back in my bed.
Really interesting seeing the public be so okay with the placeholder art in Slay the Spire 2. I guess they trust in the potential of the final product, but it would be cool if the general consumer had a better understanding of dev pipelines.
Haven't updated my status in awhile. I'm taking a short break from working on my game because I have a sliiiight burnout,,
