Another Pixel Art for Kids recreation. It is hard being patient and keeping to basics to learn.
Newest attempt in Aseprite. I have established that I can follow an example. Hopefully, with practice, I will be able to start visualizing things myself without needing something to copy from.
Continuing with something easy in Aseprite. This is a brick something. Maybe it will be a fireplace. Maybe a wall of some sort. I was just experimenting to see how to make brick. I probably did it the most difficult way possible. I'm just playing around until I buckle down and do some actual tutorials. And even 256 x 256 is very small.
Pretty horrible first attempt at recreating an image with Aseprite. But I guess if anyone can tell what it is supposed to be, then that is something. If not, maybe next time. Just realized 64 x 64 is really small too. Oh, well.
Last week someone left a comment on one of my older videos that showed a simple, Hangman-like concept puzzle demo. They asked if I could share the code so I just made and posted a quick explanation video.

Just tried using Aseprite for the first time today. Ugh. My lack of ability to visualize things is painfully apparent. I watched a couple of tutorials and I look at the zoomed in image and think...that doesn't look like what they say it is. Then I see the preview and I'm like...ok...maybe. My first abomination was a chair and then a mana potion. I really need to learn how to shade.
Official last day of my post retirement job was Friday. Ended up standing outside for most of that time in the cold as the school hosted an Oyster Roast, but hey, I'm now retired retired.
I hear the RPG Maker God whispering sweet, sweet nothings in my ear about working on my games. A seductive siren call.

3 more days until my 2nd and full retirement. And to embrace our "old age" as retirees, my wife signed us up for a Tai Chi class at a Senior Center a few weeks ago. It is surprisingly popular, but my wife and I are the youngest people there out of 20+.
As the world gets crazier and crazier, I have been joking with my wife that life is just a simulation or being controlled by aliens and they have finally decided to just mess with us until we realize what's really going on. And just when I think we have seen it all...nope...something crazier happens. Stupid aliens messing with us.
But we always have our projects to work on!

Well, made the decision with the wife that I will quit my new job on January 31st and then I will be just plain old fully retired. My wife is now fully retired and is waiting for me to join her. 19 more work shifts to go. But who's counting.
Well, of the 40 games (not counting DLC) that I bought during the Steam sale using various gift cards from Christmas, (over 1,100 on my Wishlist that I'm watching), I also decided to buy Aseprite so I can start trying to learn to make pixel art. My biggest problem is I have a very hard time visualizing anything. I usually need an example to work from. But, we will see.
I apologize to everyone on the forum. I haven’t felt like myself for a while. Not since my wife and I retired from our career jobs. I’m struggling with anger and I’m pretty sure depression. That isn’t an excuse. I need to be more careful with how I interact with people when I feel like this.

I will be forever grateful to this forum for helping me get started on my RPG Maker journey almost 4 years ago.
But does anyone else sense the change in the forums? There seems to be such an undercurrent of negativity, intolerance, and unfriendliness.
Maybe it's just me. It just feels like a shadow of its former self, propped up by a few very nice, dedicated users.
Well, this is horrible. Everyone in the house is sick with Influenza Type A, Bronchitis, and whatever else. Fever, headache, body ache, cough, sore throat, productive cough, etc. I almost never call out sick and I'm taking at least two days of sick leave. Ugh. But I don't want to get kids and parents at the school sick or my pregnant boss sick either.
I apologize upfront if any of my posts are more negative or unkind. I’m feeling very agitated, unfriendly, and generally pissed off. I’m trying very hard to get to a better place and not let it affect my social interactions. But moods like this can mess with your judgment. I might need to spend some time in my crypt. -

Pepper hopped up on my bed to snuggle earlier... and now there's grains of kitty litter all over the foot of my bed. Now she's in her own bed fast asleep. Sometimes, I like to wonder what Pepper dreams about... does she dream of chasing her toys? Pouncing on the lizards she sees on her patio? Purring in a sunny window? Receiving pets and scritchies?
