One thing I've resolved myself is to avoid fussy quest requirements. I know they are part of RPG history, but I don't think anything of value is gained if you "realistically" address KOd party members, or if you require a specific interaction with something that's easy to miss. I like how in the Final Fantasy Pixel remake, if you just walk into an area with the thing, the thing just happens.
