  • Added regions to the world map tonight, aaaand threw together the map for the first town. It's nonstandard, and I might tweak it later, but it feels good to me so far.

My hand is hurting from writing my next novel, so I'm trying to take it easy.
The default worldmap tileset for RMMZ is... really pretty questionable in some places. A lot of places. It has issues which I do not enjoy, at any rate. Maybe I need to do more exploring with layers to fix that...

...but I have a world map done enough to move on to the remaining 104 maps I have in my original spec!

    ...there'll probably be more...

@Avery412 Huh. Not a bad way to look at it--I'll have to consider that methodology! I've done more mapping in RPGmaker than anything else, so eventually I had to learn how to do *most* of that. Got passingly decent at color modding bits! Any world map additions you recommend?

That is a huge depends on setting and makers owned ;)

@Avery I own every US available RPGmaker currently besides the console specific ones :) 2k, 2k3, XP, VX, VXace, MV, and MZ! :)

Honestly, any you'd rec for any setting would be appreciated :)
I have my much smaller project mapped out besides equipment! Not every detail of everything, I'm sure, but getting to work implementing will help me see what I underestimated/missed.

After a day of spending much of it hobbling on a cane, I'm eager to get some gamedev done!
Went from actively working on a project with 39 dungeons, 9 cities, assorted other kinds of maps, eight characters, and a very complicated plot...

...a project with 6 cities, 8 full dungeons, 6 transitional dungeons, 7 characters, and an excuse plot. Going to use it as a project to really let loose and just get something DONE so I can say that I achieved that big "finished game released somewhere for free"
The scope of my current project is... really big, and the planning is going really well! I'm making progress with the start of things that I want to implement--and that feels really cool!

...but I'm really tempted to make a much smaller-scoped game that I can complete just to have something COMPLETED.

Feels like it might be a good idea.
It's amazing how bizarre and fun it is to learn a new language! Wish I was as quick at picking up Japanese as computer languages. しかったがない :kaocry:

I've learned some C++, Java before, but people aren't lying when they say that Javascript != Java!

It feels REALLY weird to not define a variable's type, but hey, if it works, it works! I can adapt!

@RavenBlueIndigo I've never been... GREAT at it... but it feels important to finally learn! If you can learn music I'm confident you can figure it out! :)

@Trihan I realize alphabetically is a weird way to put it, but I'm used to it back when I needed to name album tracks 1-9, then 90, 91, 92, etc.

Javascript is one of those programming languages that are basically a meme that took itself so seriously that became a real thing but still retains the meme part. It's a thing that wasn't suppoused to become a programming language but did anyway.

@Winshifter I feel like the more I look at it the more that I'm seeing that. My brain is lightly fizzing at the moment.
Deciding that I am going to finish a project for once! I've been playing with RPGmakers since 2k and 2k3, and if I don't do it now, when will I?

Looking forward to encouraging others as I try to make my game dev journey after years and years of false starts.

Pepper hopped up on my bed to snuggle earlier... and now there's grains of kitty litter all over the foot of my bed. Now she's in her own bed fast asleep. Sometimes, I like to wonder what Pepper dreams about... does she dream of chasing her toys? Pouncing on the lizards she sees on her patio? Purring in a sunny window? Receiving pets and scritchies?
Oh no... she's back in my bed.
Really interesting seeing the public be so okay with the placeholder art in Slay the Spire 2. I guess they trust in the potential of the final product, but it would be cool if the general consumer had a better understanding of dev pipelines.
Haven't updated my status in awhile. I'm taking a short break from working on my game because I have a sliiiight burnout,,
