  • After several weeks of sheer work hell, I'm back. I saw in some plugin updates that MZ now has a v1.9, but can't find any details for it. Can someone direct me?
    Thanks.

@FrigidGaze Thanks very much. I'd only been looking here as I prefer to use the standalone version. I never thought to look on Steam.
Tiles clearly marked with a star. Placed on level 4. And the player can still walk on them.
    Colour me confused.

Sure you are on the correct tileset?

I only have this particular tree on one sheet in one tileset which is only used in one town.
I have remapped it so that the top half of the tree is against a wall. That's sorted it. But bizarre doesn't begin to cover it.

I have a (very) little time in hand, so if anyone wants a demo review, who hasn't already got one, ask now. I'll only be able to do a couple. Exclusions:
    Visual Novels: not my thing
QTE battle systems: I'm rubbish at them
RL has stood back long enough for me to finally get my demo out. You can see the game thread here.
    EDIT
Don't ask me why, but the link is not working.
EDIT 2 Now it is, sort of.
It's probable, but not certain, that my current project will be a free game. I'm done with all the hassle of commercial games. I've got 5, I don't need more.
Is anyone else having the problem that not all their 'watched' threads are giving notifications when there's a new post?

@gstv87 That's the way it's always been - but this is on threads that I always check e.g. map & game screenshots.

It will also not notify you of further new answers when you look at the alerts, but not answer. It's been this way at least since the update to the new forum version.

@Poryg I've been taking that into account as well. I've only been picking things up by going through the 'New Posts' section, which is somewhat time consuming.
I've taken displacement activity to Olympic gold medal standards.
Done hours of work on assorted things instead of working on the one thing needed to progress my game.
The bug to end all bugs.
Enemy uses skill to absorb some of an actor's MP. Unintended extra effect = random actor unable to use Attack, magic skills, physical skills or guard. Can use Item or Swap.
Over to you VS. Good luck with that one.
(I've spent days finding the reason & trying to fix it.)
I don't like it when even mini-bosses are immune to all the status effects you've given your player to use. But this screenie of the tool tips for status afflictions it's already got looks like I might have gone too far.

Poor mini-boss, it's definitely finding it a struggle to keep up with that lot, and there's more that could come its way.

@bgillisp You got it. And as it's a CTB battle system, that AGI drop could cause problems too.
Maybe its resistances will need just the tiniest bit of tweaking.

If its a helpful idea, with a slight rewrite you could have a state reserved to act as a boss' negative regen rate to curb that. That way, the poison still works, but just to lesser effect on bosses.

Cant do much about the parameter drops from the states without doing something a bit more drastic though

@Robro33 What I've now done is a troop event that removes Pestilence the following turn and heals the enemy for a little more than the amount it's lost. The player better learn not to inflict it again. More interesting, imo, than just lowering the damage level, as the player has to notice and decide.
I have just found a quicker way of getting the US spelling of something. Type in the word and see if the forum underlines it in red. It works for neutralise/neutralize anyway.

@Norintha Do you mean phonemes, which don't change except over a significantly long time, or do you mean neologisms i.e. new words/terms/phrases? These get added at great rapidity.
    Norintha

Phonemes as in the basic sounds of a spoken language, and English loves to help itself to them from other languages. It was part of the first couple days of my Japanese language class where we talked about how Japanese added a new phoneme last about 600 years ago while English has thousands and adds more Everytime someone thinks something sounds cool. :)

@Norintha Ah yes, you're right. I'd forgotten all the words we take from elsewhere with their own sounds.
Now that RL is no longer crashing down on me like Niagara Falls, I can open up the editor for the 1st time in 2 months, and visit the forum.
I have no memory of what I was doing. Time to channel my inner Sherlock.
Let me ask you a very personal question.
If you lost all your progress, what would your reaction be?
If it's not peace, joy and contentment - make a backup. Now.
I usually have the volume on my laptop set to 16-18. I can't stand the cheeps & chirps almost every program gives you.
Today I opened up an old RM 2003 game to check an idea and had to set it to 6. Ouch. Simply, ouch.

The highest I'll typically go is 20 as well, just because I find that to make for comfortable listening. Although, depending on the volume of the video I'm watching or song I'm listening to I sometimes have to adjust up or down ten points or so.

I usually keep my laptop at 50% volume and look into turning off certain sounds otherwise I have to lower the volume if I know I'm going to be using certain programs with annoying sounds.

Yeah, I usually keep mine at about 18-22, unless my surroundings are real loud, then I either turn it upwards of 30, or go somewhere quieter.

I've been a busy little bee downloading today's Advent Calender stuff while the site is working. For much of yesterday I couldn't get it to load at all.

    I now officially hate moustaches.
I have a couple of NPCs who are important enough to need faces. I have learned that I can't really do moustaches, & now wish I'd never started this.

Pepper hopped up on my bed to snuggle earlier... and now there's grains of kitty litter all over the foot of my bed. Now she's in her own bed fast asleep. Sometimes, I like to wonder what Pepper dreams about... does she dream of chasing her toys? Pouncing on the lizards she sees on her patio? Purring in a sunny window? Receiving pets and scritchies?
Oh no... she's back in my bed.
Really interesting seeing the public be so okay with the placeholder art in Slay the Spire 2. I guess they trust in the potential of the final product, but it would be cool if the general consumer had a better understanding of dev pipelines.
Haven't updated my status in awhile. I'm taking a short break from working on my game because I have a sliiiight burnout,,
